Opis:
The antifeedant activities of different essential oils (EO) were tested against green peach aphids, and their potential role in inducing plant resistance pathways on potato cultivars was studied. Measuring the two common enzyme indicators, guaiacol Peroxidase (POX) and Polyphenol oxidase (PPO), expressed post-physical or chemical injury in plants. The impact of EO on aphid feeding behaviour was monitored using Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG) recording for 8 hrs post-treatment. The effect of the EO on aphid mortality was measured in vitro. The results showed that 60% of the essential oil extracts have insecticidal activity against M. persicae. The results also revealed that some EO has significantly increased the PPO level and had no significant impact of the different treatments on POX and insect behaviour than the control. Mustard, Sage, Jojoba, Eucalyptus, Bitter cucumber, Camphor, and Rosemary oil have natural induction in potato. Camphor, Sage, Pomegranate, and Bitter-cucumber caused a disturbance in the settling behavior of M. persicae and prolonged searching for a feeding site. Mustard, Eucalyptus, and Sage resulted in delaying drop potential associated with non-persistent and semi-persistent viruses. Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Mustard caused a delay in sieve element behavior related to persistent virus transmission.

Opis:
The increasing demand for water with the industrialisation of the world is becoming a major problem as there is a water shortage all over the earth. Therefore, the water problem is one of the important problems that need to be effectively solved. This paper presents the results of research on wastewater treatment of bitumen production in the Mangystau region, which after physical and chemical treatment methods is sent to natural evaporation fields. As a result of research work, a method of wastewater treatment of bitumen plant was developed, which includes two stages: distillation of water on the solar plant and ozonation in order to oxidize volatile organic matter. Distillation to obtain primary treated water of 70–75% volume was carried out at 33–37 °C ambient temperature and 15–30 kPa rarefaction, at the same time COD of water was reduced by 68%.

Opis:
Zwiększenie dawki ksenobiotyku spowodowało zmniejszenie masy części nadziemnych i podziemnych roślin użytych w doświadczeniu. Badane gatunki wykazały zróżnicowaną wrażliwość na zanieczyszczenie gleby przepracowanym olejem silnikowym.
Most of products of oil refining have a toxic effects to plants, animals and also to man. Especially dangerous for environment are overworked engine oils because of its pollutants. The aim of this work was to determine the effect of overworked engine oil on growth and advancement of chosen species of plants. The effect of increasing concentration of the overworked engine oil in the soil (0,5, 1, 10, 50, 100 g/kg) on: biomass of roots, the stalk elongation, biomass of stalk of Dactylis glomerata L., Vicia sativa L., Synapis alba L., were studied. On the basis of research results it was stated that limiting the height of plants was causing used oil. Increasing the dose of xenobiotic caused reducing biomass of roots and stalks all tested plants. The species studied showed different sensitivity to the concentration of overworked engine oil.

The level of phytotoxicity of the soil samples artificially contaminated with the aviation kerosene was determined in the work. The dependences of the growth characteristics of the plant test system (flax) on the excess of the approximate permissible concentrations (APC) of the oil product concentration in the soil were identified. The change in the mass of raw material depending on the level of aviation kerosene contamination of soil samples was determined. A decrease in the plant growth activity with an increase in the content of aviation fuel in the soil was established. It was found that there is a hormesis effect at certain concentrations of aviation kerosene in the soil. The comparison of the concentration dependences of the action of petroleum products on the growth rates of seedlings and their dependence on the distance to the source of pollution allowed in the latter case to conduct a kind of “dosimetry” on exposure concentrations when the petroleum product concentration was not determined.

Opis:
Bulb fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) has gained importance for its high-value bulb production. A field experiment was conducted in a farm in El-Santa, Gharbia, Egypt, to enhance productivity and quality attributes of F. vulgare bulbs using different fertilizers: biofertilizer, organic fertilizer (rabbit manure), and mineral fertilizer [nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K)]. The biofertilizers included nitrogen fixer bacteria (Azos), phosphate solubilizing bacteria (Bm), and potassium solubilizing bacteria (Bc) with/without vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi. Application of NPK at 150% of the RD and rabbit manure at 60 m3/fed resulted in the highest values of branch number, bulb weight, bulb yield, percentages of total carbohydrates, N, P, and K, as well as features of marketable bulbs including firmness, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, vitamin C, and bulb essential oil. Moreover, the GC/MS analyses of bulb essential oil of the organically and chemically fertilized plants showed the increase of trans-anethole, the predominant constituent responsible for bulb’s flavor. However, the highest proportion of estragole (9.65%), an undesirable compound, was recorded with 150% of recommended NPK. In comparison, the lowest estragole content (4.09% and 5.64%) was obtained by organic fertilizer (rabbit manure at 60 m3/fed) and biofertilizer (Azos+Bm+Bc+VAM), respectively. The increase in bulb yield (11.76–11.99 ton/fed) and essential oil content (0.076–0.080%) of bulbs obtained with organic manure (rabbit manure at 60 m3/fed) was accompanied by a marked decrease in estragole and an increase in the most important constituents, α-pinene, ß-pinene, limonene, trans-anethole, and anisaldehyde. Hence, the organic fennel bulb can be produced with an abundant and highquality crop which consolidates the concept of ecological and organic farming for this important crop.
