Opis:
This paper deals with the analysis of the influence of integrated transport systems on the region and on ITS transport services in the Czech Republic and Poland. Available transport statistics contain only the information about particular transport modes; the data of integrated transport systems is not registered. Therefore the basis for the analysis of integrated transport systems and ITS influence on the region is missing. With regard to this, the situation of transport services in regions with an integrated transport system and in regions without it is has been analysed. The result is based on the comparison of situation in these regions and in the whole country.

Opis:
Integrated transport systems are considered a modern way for management of public transport services in regions. Many new integrated transport systems have been created or are planned in Central European countries. A common method for their comparison and evaluation is necessary considering differences of these systems in many attributes. The results of the evaluation method proposed in this article could lead to improvement in the quality of evaluated transport systems.

Transport is among the key sectors that play crucial roles in the effort to achieve sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction thereby bringing about sustainable development in Africa. By 2010, traffic accidents in Africa will kill almost the same number of people annually as now die from HIV/AIDS in East and Southern Africa combined. And, for every 20 Africans who die in 2010, one will be killed in a traffic accident. Intelligent Transport Systems play an important role in shaping the future ways of mobility and the transport sector. It is expected that through the use of ITS applications (Telematics), transport will become more efficient, safer and greener. The huge potentials and benefits, however, can only be reaped if ITS solutions are put in place and be well managed. By investing now in reducing the number of traffic accidents, Africa can save millions of lives over the coming decades and reap significant economic and social benefits.

Opis:
The article describes public transport co-modality for sustainable development of a public transport system. New strategies are needed to make the city public transport more efficient, more accessible and more sustainable. There are some concepts described in the article. The concepts are illustrated with practical examples - how it is possible to increase the capacity of infrastructure and what has been done in the city of Riga for public transport sustainable development. Key benefits of each concept are also described. A more efficient use of city space, allocated to transport improves the overall performance of all the passenger transport system. The paper presents the concept of aid - a base graph approach to calculate the territory assigned to the particular stop of public transport for the cost optimization. Efficient planning and better use of infrastructure, as well as passenger-friendly interchanges and good traffic management, allocated to public transport, bring the public transport system towards sustainability.

Opis:
Transport telematics (ITS - Inteligent Transport Systems) deals with application of information and communication technologies with the aim of enhancing traffic performance, economies, efficiency, safety, ecology and comfort of transport. ITS basic functions applicable to all modes of transport include a.o. traffic control and management, intelligent vehicles, electronic fee collection, management of rescue systems, management of public mass transportation, route planning, provisioning of traffic information, fleet management and logistics of freight transport. Developing the tradition of science, research and the existing industrial basis, the Czech transport telematics sector is one of those most advanced in Europe. Nevertheless, the present scope of ITS implementation in the Czech Republic is relatively low, and the social climate and regulatory environment related to ITS aren´t at a sufficient high level either. Therefore, the Association for Transport Telematics (SDT, ITS&S) is coming up with an initiative called ITS 2020 Vision, trying to formulate crucial directions of development and implementation of transport telematics in the Czech Republic until 2020, identify the main obstacles to the development and propose the methods of how to remove them.

By the methods of field research, it is determined the primary factors of traffic flows on the sections of urban twolane streets, where routes of tram and urban bus movement which have motion in general structure of traffic flow are laid. Using methods of documentary research and traffic simulation, there are received results of change of average operational speed of tram and urban bus movement during different periods of operation on the route; traffic flow delays connected with technological features of tram and urban bus routes functioning in zone of operation of tram and urban bus stops and controlled intersections. Using methods of traffic simulation, it is determined possible time losses and queue length in traffic flows in conditions of increase of traffic volume and change of its composition (increase of urban public transport rate).

In the era of dynamic development of ICT and its increasingly common use in every aspect of life, automated fare collection systems in the public transport became a standard in large cities throughout the world. The systems implemented worldwide, including Poland, differ in assumptions and technologies used. A part of the solutions already implemented is based on the so-called Check-In and Check-Out model, which raises a lot of social fears. The aim of the paper is to present premises that are decisive for the implementation of e-ticket systems in urban public transport, which are based on the registration of the entry to and exit from a vehicle.

Opis:
Modal split between individual automobile transport and public passenger transport represents a ratio to 70:30 for individual transport. Long-term trend in Slovak republic is decrease in the number of passenger using public passenger transport. One of the possible determinants of passenger demand is service quality. Information is one of the important quality criteria. Information systems in passenger transport companies and information systems for passengers can improve service quality and stimulate passenger demand. In the one way operator should identify the requirements of passengers and in the other way these requirements should be filled with the maximum possible levels. Quality criteria information and punctuality are closely related. Punctuality is important for management of the transport operations and for passenger within the meaning of information about accuracy timetable. Implementation of information systems for passengers and respect for the latest trends can increase the quality of public passenger transport services in the Slovak republic. Raise of customer satisfaction should be the goal of each company, to ensure the sustainability of demand for public transport services.
