Opis:
Birch tree sap was concentrated by mens of the reversed osmosis technique. The energy consumption in a small-scale pilot apparatus was estimated. The threshold value for the water removal above which the specific energy consumption significantly increased was identified. Below the threshold value the reversed osmosis had low energy demand and could be an attractive method for the production of birch tree sap-based beverages.

Opis:
The work presents a simple electronic device that helps to monitor the basic parameters of the reverse osmosis (RO) system during the concentration of birchtree sap. The construction costs are low (around 150 Euro) but the functionality of the device is high. It has an in-build two channel conductometer and can measure the volumetric flow rate of twostreams of liquids. The collected data are transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth to a PC computer. The new data acquisition system can help to monitor the work of RO apparatus in standard conditions or in the research and development works. It provides essential data for the process modeling and economic aspects analysis of birch sap concentrate production.

This paper presents birch sap concentrate obtained by the reverse osmosis method. It is characterized by sweet taste, high content of minerals andno risk to consumers in terms of content of heavy metals standardized in the European Union food legislation. This beverage has all the features of a modern food product, i.e. it has an attractive taste, is obtained using new technology, meets the clean label requirements and can be classified as a superfoods product.

Three experiments were carried out to assess the effectiveness of the so-called new technologies in extending birch tree sap shelf life. In the first one, microfiltration of birch sap was carried out using 0.22 μm, 0.45 μm and 0.8 μm filters. In the second experiment, ultraviolet radiation was applied for 5, 15 and 45 minutes. In the third experiment ultrasound was applied with one-, two-, three- and four-fold use. Regardless of the pore diameter, all the microfiltered samples were non-perishable for at least a month at room temperature. The efficacy of ultrasound was also demonstrated. The four-fold use of ultrasound proved to be the most effective and prolonged the shelf life of birch sap from one to two days at room temperature and from four to twelve days in refrigeration conditions. In turn, the use of ultraviolet radiation did not extend the shelf life of birch sap, although in refrigeration conditions the clouding was significantly inhibited. However, there is no doubt that among the so-called new technologies, microfiltration is the most advantageous in extending shelf life of birch sap and has perspectives for use in food industry.

The article gives results of the development of the system of monitoring for photovoltaic power installations with different configuration to study the factors, increasing their productivity. Differentiation of impact, made by the components of different structure of photovoltaic power installations is made by application of three independent controlled channels of energy extraction from photovoltaic panels: fixed focused, with application of solar tracker and with application of solar tracker, having flat mirror concentrators. To secure originality of the record of the electric energy, produced by photovoltaic panels, we have developed unit of control for discharging current of battery banks in each channel. It supports equal level of their charge. Amount of the produced electric energy in each channel is estimated by the value of discharge. Control and measuring system is made on the base of virtual devices with hardware unit of input/output of NI USB-6009 type, produced by National Instruments Company, with software LabVIEW. In the research, software code of the system of monitoring and front panel of operator have been developed. The work provides photos of the developed experimental stand.
