Opis:: This article offers an analysis of Polish and Serbian phraseological units which are related to emotional-affective states and contain components referring to parts of human body. The cognitive-semantic analysis presented in the study considers 145 such units. The corpus is divided into three thematic groups, taking into account all three types of emotions: positive, neutral and negative. The article presents the meaning of phraseological units in focus and considers the impact of symbolism of given parts of the body on shaping it. The conclusion highlights the key similarities and differences between the Polish and Serbian phraseological units under discussion.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja analizy związków frazeologicznych odnoszących się do stanów emocjonalno-uczuciowych z komponentem somatycznym w języku polskim oraz serbskim. Na podstawie korpusu, zawierającego 145 frazeologizmów, jednostki frazeologiczne zostały poddane semantyczno-kognitywnej analizie. Korpus został podzielony na trzy grupy tematyczne. Zaproponowana klasyfikacja uwzględniła wszystkie trzy typy emocji: pozytywne, negatywne oraz neutralne. Przedstawiono znaczenie badanych frazeologizmów oraz ukazano, w jakim stopniu symbolika danych części ciała wpłynęła na ukształtowanie znaczenia frazeologicznego. W końcowej części artykułu omówiono podobieństwa i różnice w zakresie polskich i serbskich związków frazeologicznych.

Opis:: LOVE in English and PolishThe paper presents a sample contrastive analysis of the linguistic picture of love in English and Polish. The material used in the survey is drawn from lexicographic data, including the British National Corpus and Narodowy Korpus Języka Polskiego [National Corpus of Polish]. The paper focuses on the similarities and differences in conceptualizing the abstract concept of love in the English and Polish languages. An analytical method, developed by Bartmiński and associates, serves as the theoretical basis for the reconstruction of the linguistic picture of the world. MIŁOŚĆ w języku angielskim i polskimNiniejszy artykuł to próba kontrastywnego porównania językowego obrazu świata MIŁOŚCI w języku angielskim i polskim. Materiał badawczy pochodzi głównie ze źródeł leksykograficznych: słowników oraz korpusów (Narodowego Korpusu Języka Polskiego oraz z korpusu języka angielskiego British National Corpus). Celem badania było poszukiwanie podobieństw i różnic w konceptualizacji MIŁOŚCI w tych dwóch językach. Metoda badawcza została zaczerpnięta z prac J. Bartmińskiego i dotyczy rekonstrukcji językowego obrazu świata różnych pojęć.

Opis:: Ontologic structures in a socio-political editorial – a socio-cognitive approachThe aim of the present study is to analyze the conceptualization of ontological structures in a special type of journalistic writing represented by a socio-political editorial. According to the socio-cognitive approach (Goffman, Langacker), the author discusses the problem of discursive mechanisms related to the persuasive function of language and classification. Therefore, in basis of the gathered linguistic corpus, which constitutes of forty French editorials, treating about university and public service pension reforms, culled from the web pages of different journals and magazines (2007–2008), the author intends to describe the distribution of two semantic roles such as agent and patient (by means of the synthetic scheme presented in this paper) in the context of the persuasiveness of media communication. The way of constructing the semantic roles of participants both influences and modifies the readers’ opinions and their perception of the world.
