Opis:: The local-in-time existence of solutions of the free boundary problem for an incompressible viscous self-gravitating fluid motion is proved. We show the existence of solutions with lowest possible regularity for this problem such that $u\in W^{2,1}_r(\widetilde{{\mitΩ}}^T)$ with r>3. The existence is proved by the method of successive approximations where the solvability of the Cauchy-Neumann problem for the Stokes system is applied. We have to underline that in the $L_p$-approach the Lagrangian coordinates must be used. We are looking for solutions with lowest possible regularity because this simplifies the proof and decreases the number of compatibility conditions.

Opis:: We study the roles played by four special types of bases (weakly uniform bases, ω-in-ω bases, open-in-finite bases, and sharp bases) in the classes of linearly ordered and generalized ordered spaces. For example, we show that a generalized ordered space has a weakly uniform base if and only if it is quasi-developable and has a $G_δ$-diagonal, that a linearly ordered space has a point-countable base if and only if it is first-countable and has an ω-in-ω base, and that metrizability in a generalized ordered space is equivalent to the existence of an OIF base and to the existence of a sharp base. We give examples showing that these are the best possible results.

Opis:: In recent papers the authors studied global smoothness preservation by certain univariate and multivariate linear operators over compact domains. Here the domain is ℝ. A very general positive linear integral type operator is introduced through a convolution-like iteration of another general positive linear operator with a scaling type function. For it sufficient conditions are given for shift invariance, preservation of global smoothness, convergence to the unit with rates, shape preserving and preservation of continuous probabilistic functions. Finally, four examples of very general specialized operators are presented fulfilling all the above properties; in particular, the inequalities for global smoothness preservation are proven to be sharp.
