Selected alloys from the Fe-Al system are included into a group of materials on a matrix of intermetallic phases, and characteristic properties result from it and they constitute a resultant between properties of superalloys and ceramic materials. These materials are characterized, inter alia, by capacity for operating at elevated temperatures, as well as good strength related properties and resistance to oxidation and corrosion at an increased temperature. In addition, a low cost of alloy components and low density caused by aluminium content are their advantages. The basic reasons limiting application of alloys from Fe-Al system as construction materials are current: their low plasticity at room temperature, propensity for brittle cracking, low resistance at elevated temperature, and insufficient creep resistance. This unfavorable characteristics may be improved by adding to alloys such elements as molybdenum, zirconium, carbon, and boron, reducing the size of grains, increasing their purity, stabilizing the solid solution, and causing changes in phase transition temperatures. These alloys may be successfully manufactured by classic melting accompanied with refinement remelting, and ingot casting. In spite of additions and microadditions, grain refining of the initial structure of ingots manufactured in that way is rarely achieved, mainly because of low castability and high casting contraction. In this work we presented the results of structure analysis and investigations of the dilatometric study alloys on the base Fe-Al system. The alloys were obtained by classic casting technique. The studies were carried out on samples after casting and annealing. The phase transformation and thermal expansion investigations of the alloys from Fe-Al system with concentration of Fe-58Al were presented. The linear thermal expansion α was calculated by standard method. The α coefficient was noticed as a temperature function.

Opis:
A novel severe plastic deformation method entitled rolling with cyclic movement of rolls was proposed to fabricate ultrafine grained CuCr0.6 copper alloy. The alloy in the solution treated conditions was processed by rolling with cyclic movement of rolls method by using process parameters as amplitude of rolls movement (A = 0.9 mm), frequency of rolls movement (f = 1 Hz), rolling reduction (ε_{h} = 50%) and rolling rate (v = 1, v = 2, v = 3 rpm). Light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and a electron backscattering diffraction detector, and scanning transmission electron microscopy were used for microstructural characterization, and hardness tests for a preliminary assessment of mechanical properties. Quantitative studies of the average diameter of the subgrains d (μm) and the average diameter of the grains D (μm) were performed using the scanning electron microscopy/electron backscattering diffraction method. Misorientation angles were analyzed by the Kikuchi-line technique using TSL-OIM software. The results show that the samples underwent very high strain at the lateral areas and smaller at the central areas. As a result, the microstructure became heterogeneous and remained unchanged with change in compression rate. The transverse movement of rolls causes in the material significant effect of refining structure in peripheral areas of sample.

Opis:
The results of the microstructure investigations of the pure Al and AlMg5 alloy and pure Cu and CuFe2 alloy after the application of severe plastic deformation implemented by rolling with the cyclic movement of the rolls are presented in this paper. The rolling with the cyclic movement of the rolls was carried out at values: the rolling rate v=1 rpm, the frequency of rolls movement f=1 Hz, the amplitude of rolls movement A=1.6 mm. Maximal values of rolling reduction at 6 passes was ε_{h}=80%. The structure of the these materials was analyzed using scanning transmission electron microscope. The quantitative studies of the substructure was performed with MET-ILO software, on the basis of images acquired on scanning transmission electron microscope. Performed substructure investigations showed that using the rolling with the cyclic movement of the rolls method can refine the microstructure of these materials to the ultrafine scale.

Opis:
The results of microstructure and hardness investigations of the CuFe2 and CuCr0.6 alloys after solution and ageing treatment are presented in this paper. The variants of heat treatment as: solution at 1000°C per 3 h and ageing treatment at 500°C for 2 h and at 700°C for 24 h were chosen for severe plastic deformation process realized by rolling with the cyclic movement of rolls method. The structure of CuFe2 and CuCr0.6 alloys was analysed using scanning transmission electron microscopy, and the quantitative studies of the substructure was performed with MET-ILO software, on the basis of images acquired on scanning transmission electron microscope.

Opis:
The article presents the dynamic mechanical properties of two types of high manganese austenitic TWIP steels. The investigations were carried out for the wide range of strain rates from 10¯² s¯¹ up to 4×10³ s¯¹ using servo-hydraulic testing machine and split Hopkinson bar for the quasi-static and dynamic loading regime, respectively. The mechanical properties at different strain rates like yield strength and true stress were calculated out on the base of the results of impact tests. In the next step, the microstructure of the analyzed steels after different deformation rates were observed by scanning transmission electron microscopy technique in order to disclose a dislocation structures and mainly the TWIP effect. In the studies observed that with the strain rate increasing yield strength as well as true stress for 0.3 true strain increasing in both steels. The microstructure observations reveal the influence of strain rate on the structure evolution for analyzed steels.

In this work, the anodic formation of self-organized nanotubular oxide layers on Ti13Zr13Nb implant alloy was presented. Anodic oxidation was carried out at room temperature in [1 M] $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ solution with 1 wt% content of $NH_4F$. The voltage and time of anodization was 20 V for 120 min, respectively. Under proposed conditions, the best arrangement of nanopores was observed. The physical and chemical properties of the anodized surface of the Ti13Zr13Nb alloy were characterized using grazing incidence X-ray diffraction, scanning transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. It was found that diameter of nanopores varied from 10 to 32 nm. Mechanism of the fabrication of the unique 3D tube-shaped nanostructure of $TiO_2$ on the surface of the Ti13Zr13Nb alloy by electrochemical anodization, has been discussed.
