    Opis:
    The possibility of using the transverse acoustoelectric phenomena in experimental investigations of near surface region in semiconductor crystals was discussed. The results of experimental investigations of GaP:Te(111) surfaces by means of the transverse acoustoelectric voltage were presented. Applying the transverse acoustoelectric voltage method, the lifetime τ of minority carrier in the near-surface region and the surface potential $V_{s}$ in GaP:Te(111) surfaces after their different technological treatments were determined.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the acoustic method for determining some parameters of fast surface states in semiconductors. This method uses the interactions of the phonon-electron type for determining both the effective carrier lifetime τ influenced by the fast surface energetic states and the velocity g of the carrier trapped by the surface states. Some experimental results of the parameters τ and g in near-surface region of real Si(111) samples for their various surface treatments, obtained by the offered method, are presented.

    Opis:
    The paper presents investigations concerning the analysis of photonic structures with grating couplers. In the paper basic theoretically information on photonic structures with grating couplers is presented. The results of numerical investigations on photonic structures with grating couplers are discussed, too. Investigations show an essential influence of the geometrical parameters of grating couplers on the effectiveness of the input and output of optic power into and out of this photonic structure. In the paper the selected results of experimental realizations of photonic structures with grating couplers based on zinc oxide ZnO are presented.

Nowadays this method is perceived as an alternative for invasive monitoring of the patients.     One of the most fundamental examination in intensive care medicine is cardiac output measurement, realized by pulmonary artery catherization. The thermodilution cardiac output estimation method is not resistant to various kinds of disturbances, which significantly decreases its sensitivity and specificity. The paper depicts investigations related to analysis of presumable new source of unreliability - asymmetric blood flow through pulmonary vessels. The investigations consisted of two phases: clinical examination (to obtain anatomical data) and computer modeling (to simulate the flow symmetry).

    Cardiac output is one of the most valuable hemodynamic parameter. It is measured commonly with intravascular pressures by pulmonary artery catheterization technique. The cardiac output itself is measured by dilution of thermal marker method (thermodilution), which is not resistant for various disturbances. In this paper the influence of blood temperature on metrological properties of thermal dilution method was described.

    Opis:
    We analyze coupling and propagation of light through a suspended-core microstructured optical fiber. It is experimentally demonstrated that light-coupling efficiency and mode distribution strongly depend on relative position of the fiber's core and a light beam and light polarization. The experimental results are supported with numerical simulations. The developed numerical model confirmed all the observed dependences.

    We report on growth of GaN nanocolumns by plasma assisted MBE on (111) silicon substrates and on their characterization. The nanocolumns nucleate on the substrate spontaneously without use of any catalyst, probably by the Volmer-Weber mechanism. Transmission electron microscopy analysis shows high crystalline quality of GaN nanocolumns and their good alignment with the c-axis being perpendicular to the substrate. Preliminary results on use of GaN nanocolumns in gas sensor devices are presented.
