Opis:
Magnetic susceptibility, electroconductivity and structure of polymer conducting layers of polyaniline and polyaminophenoles were studied in a wide temperature range. It was found that magnetic susceptibility depends on the doping level of polymer and the nature of doping agents. The obtained result suggested the existence of metallic states in highly doped conducting polymers.

We consider a spin-1/2 XX chain with three-spin interactions which is equivalent to a system of noninteracting spinless fermions.We examine some dynamic quantities of the spin model.In particular, we calculate analytically the dynamic transverse (zz) structure factor which is governed by a two-fermion excitation continuum. Moreover, we compute numerically the dynamic xx structure factor which is a many-fermion dynamic quantity.We illustrate how the three-spin interactions manifest themselves in the dynamic probes.

We examine dynamic quantities of a random spin-1/2 isotropic XY chain in a transverse field. The randomness is related to the sign of the nearest-neighbor exchange interaction and can be eliminated by a suitable transformation. As a result, the dynamic quantities for the random spin chain are related to the same dynamic quantities for the homogeneous spin chain. We use the available results for the latter model to discuss the effect of randomness on the dynamic structure factors of the quantum spin chain.

In this study, effect of glycidylisobutyl oligomeric silsesquioxane (G-POSS) and 1.1'-carbonyl-bis-caprolactam (CBC) (1 wt.%) on the friction and wear performance of polyamide 6 (PA6) and short glass fiber (SGF) (10 and 20 wt.%) reinforced PA6 composites were investigated. Adhesive wear tests were carried out by using a tribometer in block-on-ring configuration (ASTM G77), in sliding conditions, without lubricants and in air. Tests were carried out at sliding speed of 1.6 m/s (511 rpm) and applied load values of 25, 50 and 75 N. Wear rate was calculated using weight loss per unit sliding distance. The results showed that, the friction force increases with the increasing load. It was found that the wear resistance of PA6 improved considerably after doping with CBC.

The effect of low temperature plasma nitriding on wear resistance of Ti6Al4V alloy were investigated. There have been several studies to investigate the low temperature plasma nitriding on Ti6Al4V alloy. Plasma nitriding processes under gas mixture of $N_2$/$H_2$ = 3 were performed at temperature 535C for duration of 4, 8 and 12 h. Adhesive wear tests were carried out by using a tribometer in block-on-ring configuration (ASTM G77), in sliding conditions, without lubricants and in air. Surface hardness of the plasma nitrided samples were measured by a Vickers hardness tester machine. Scanning electron microscopy studies were conducted to understand the wear mechanisms involved during the adhesive wear. Wear rate was calculated using weight loss per unit sliding distance. It was found that the wear resistance and surface hardness of the alloy improved considerably after plasma nitriding process. The wear resistance of the plasma nitrided samples were higher than of the unnitrided samples. Extension of nitriding times from 4 h to 12 h in the Ti6Al4V alloy improved remerkably the wear resistance and surface hardness.

Opis:
We report on the first experimental observations of an anomalous increase in the resistance of a semiconductor-super conductor contact in the vicinity of the critical temperature T$\text{}_{c}$. The effect is found in lead-doped InSb thin films having inclusions of lead of 1-3 μm in diameter: The observed effect can be a model that explains similar resistance increase observed sometimes in the high T$\text{}_{c}$ superconductors.

In the present paper we consider the low-temperature thermodynamic properties of the quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the frustrated bilayer lattice in strong magnetic fields.Under certain conditions the isolated localized magnon states (singlets on vertical bonds;simultaneous occupation of neighboring vertical bonds is forbidden) are the ground states which dominate thermodynamics and induce a behavior inherent in the well known model of hard squares on a square lattice.We focus on magnetic properties discussing the magnetization and the susceptibility of the spin model.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of surface modification of volcanic ash particles on dynamic mechanical properties of volcanic ash filled polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) composites. For this purpose volcanic ash particles were modified with 1, 3, 5 vol.% of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (3-APTS) which has an organic functional group. All volcanic ash/PPS composite samples were prepared by using DSM Xplore 15 ml twin screw microcompounder and DSM Xplore 12 ml injection molding machines. The content of volcanic ash in composite samples was varied as 10 and 15 wt%. Volcanic ash filler dispersion and adhesion between volcanic ash particles and PPS matrix were examined by scanning electron microscopy. Dynamic mechanical properties such as storage modulus (E') and glass transition temperature (T_{g}) were investigated by TA Instruments Q800 dynamic mechanical analyzer. During the experiments, the relation between silane coupling and dynamic mechanical properties was evaluated.

Thermal properties of volcanic ash filled polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) composites have been investigated with respect to surface treatment that was conducted with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (3-APTS) which had an organic functional group. Volcanic ash/PPS composite samples were prepared by using DSM Xplore 15 ml twin screw microcompounder and DSM Xplore 12 ml injection molding machines. The content of volcanic ash in composite samples was varied as 10 and 15 wt%. Volcanic ash filler dispersion and adhesion between volcanic ash particles and PPS matrix were examined by scanning electron microscopy. Thermal properties such as crystallization and melting behavior were investigated by TA Instruments Q200 differential scanning calorimeter. According to the test results, the relation between the thermal properties and surface treatment was determined as a function of melting temperature and melting enthalpy. Additionally, crystallization behavior was investigated according to surface treatment.

The surface treatment of volcanic ash particles with various concentrations (1-3-5% (v/v)) silane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (3-APTS)) having organic functional group was conducted. After surface treatment, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) composite samples containing surface treated volcanic ash particles at two concentrations (10 and 15 wt%) were manufactured by twin screw extruder and injection molding machine. This study investigated the effect of surface modification on mechanical properties of two different concentrated volcanic ash/PPS composites. All tests were performed using a Shimadzu AG-X Universal Tester. Tensile and three point bending tests were carried out at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min and 2 mm/min according to ISO 527-2 and ASTM D790 standards, respectively. During the experiments, the relation between the mechanical properties and surface treatment concentrations of silane agent on volcanic ash/PPS composites was determined as a function of tensile strength and modulus, flexural strength and modulus. Moreover, fracture surface morphologies of volcanic ash/PPS composite samples were observed by using a scanning electron microscopy.

Opis:
A metal-insulator transition, Mott transition, in layered materials 1T-TaS$\text{}_{x}$Se$\text{}_{2-x}$ was investigated by cryogenic scanning tunneling microscopy/ spectroscopy. At 77 K, tunneling spectra in the insulating phase showed a conduction band with almost half filling, which becomes narrower as x decreases. Around the transition point x≈1.4 at 77 K, we observed a sign of gap opening without an overshooting peak at zero bias, supporting the Mott localization picture in which a carrier number vanishes at the transition point. From the site-specified scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements, furthermore, electrons were found to localize at the charge density wave crest positions. In 1T-TaS$\text{}_{2}$, we have also found that both metallic and insulating phases coexist in a nanometer scale just above the transition temperature, 180 K. >From the minimum size of the insulating region, the coherence length of Mott insulating state was evaluated to be≈5 nm.

Single-photon detection in a range of submillimeter waves (λ = 0.17-0.20 mm) is demonstrated by using lateral semiconductor quantum dots fabricated on a high-mobility GaAs/AlGaAs single heterostructure crystal. When a submillimeter photon is absorbed by the quantum dot while it is operated as a single-electron transistor, it switches on (or off) the conductance through the quantum dot. An incident flux of 0.1 photons/s on an effective detector area, (0.1 mm)$\text{}^{2}$, is detected with a 1 ms time resolution. The effective noise equivalent power is roughly estimated to reach on the order of 10$\text{}^{-22}$ W/Hz$\text{}^{1}\text{}^{/}\text{}^{2}$ , a value superior to the ever reported best values of conventional detectors by a factor more than 10$\text{}^{4}$.

Opis:
An anomaly of the in-plane conductivity is observed in the superlattices PbTe/SnTe on (001)KCl in the temperature region of 60-130 K. The anomaly is caused by a structural phase transition in SnTe layer and as a result, the transition induced formation of defects. These defects are additional scattering centres which decrease the superlattice conductivity.

The article presents the scalar calibration method that uses a neural network for the determination of parameters of the inverse model of the vector magnetometer. Utilization of the one layered, feed-forward neural network with the back propagation algorithm has suppressed the systematic errors of the vector magnetometers, namely the multiplicative, additive, orthogonality and linearity errors. Methodology shown in the article was designed and used for a pre-flight calibration of the magnetometer used in the first Slovak satellite skCUBE, where the magnetometer performs stabilization and navigation tasks. The experiment was performed in a 3D Helmholtz coil system, where the Earth magnetic field was suppressed and at the same time the stimulation field was created. Suppression of the Earth magnetic field was achieved by special positioning of the satellite. Honeywell HMC 5883L was used for the verification of the methodology.
