Opis:
A study concerning the image quality in Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Imaging (EPRI) in 2D spectral-spatial (2D SSI) experiments is presented. The aim of the measurements is to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the projections by applying a more consciously selected modulation amplitude parameter. Data is gathered by applying three constant and one adaptive modulation amplitude. The three fixed modulation amplitudes values are leading to undermodulated (0.01 G), partially overmodulated (0.15 G) and fully overmodulated (0.65 G) projections. The study demonstrates the advantages of the adaptive method, which involves selecting different and dependent on cosine function modulation amplitudes for each projection. The study is performed on a phantom containing four tubes of LiPc and TCNQ, characterized by a different peak to peak linewidth and spin concentration.

Opis:
Polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites belong to a new class of hybrid materials consisting of organic-synthetic polymer matrix and inorganic filler-layered structure clay minerals. The paper presents the results of FTIR, NMR, and SAXS studies of poly(ε-caprolactone)/sodium montmorillonite nanocomposites. We observed a correlation between the concentration of poly(ε-caprolactone) in nanocomposite samples and structural changes both of the clay mineral and the intercalated polymer. Stiffening of the clay structure appears as a result of poly(ε-caprolactone) intercalation into a clay structure. $\text{}^{27}$Al NMR studies indicated in nanocomposites two non-equivalent sites of aluminium ions, i.e. in octahedral and tetrahedral coordination, whereas in the montmorillonite clay structure the aluminium ions are located in the interlayer space too. We found also that the temperatures of structural changes and softening process of poly(ε-caprolactone) chains in the nanocomposites depend on the concentration of poly(ε-caprolactone).

Opis:
We present the results of preliminary experiments regarding research on the contact angle measurements of various liquids on solid surfaces with different morphology. The aim was to get insight into the dependence of wetting phenomena on the nanoscale surface roughness. Flat and nanostructurized surfaces of gold and sapphire were used in the experiments. Four liquids - bromobenzene, water, mercury, and gallium - covering a broad range of surface tension values were used to check how varying roughness influences wetting in the systems with different adhesion/cohesion ratio. Structurization was anisotropic, which resulted in the very interesting behaviour of the examined liquids on the selected surfaces. Significant change of the wetting properties was observed as well as a strong dependence on the surface morphology.

Opis:
Thin layers of $MgB_x$ were studied in order to define evolution of superconducting phase after Mg ions implantation into boron substrate. Three fluencies of energies 140, 80, and 40 keV were used to establish proper stoichiometry to synthesize homogeneous $MgB_2$ film. Additionally, the annealing processes were carried out at temperatures 400, 500, and 600°C in a furnace in an atmosphere of flowing $Ar-4%H_2$ gas mixture. The quality of the superconducting material was examined by magnetically modulated microwave absorption, and magnetic and resistivity measurements. The results showed that $T_c$ becomes higher with increasing annealing temperature. However, the fraction of superconducting phase decreases, due to partial evaporation of Mg ions and their deeper migration into boron substrate.
