Opis:
Glass fibre reinforced plastics are especially used in aviation industry, marine applications, automobile industry and wind power plants. The shape of the products to be manufactured from glass fibre reinforced plastics materials can be easily produced by using different primary methods [J.-M. Bertholet, Composite Materials, Springer, New York 2012, p. 54]. Assembly is necessary to create the final products which have been fabricated from glass fibre reinforced plastics. Components manufactured from glass fibre reinforced plastics are drilled with CNC, during assembling process. Several kinds of defects occur around the hole after drilling the materials. Presence of defects influences the quality of holes and of the products. The aim of this study is to make comparison between modified and unmodified composite materials, both of which are formed of 30% of glass fibres and 70% of epoxy resin, in terms of delamination factor. Influence of surface modification is evaluated to identify optimum drilling parameters by using Taguchi orthogonal L18 matrix. Surface condition, drill diameter, spindle speed and feed rate are changed as process parameters in the experiments. According to the study, feed rate and spindle speed are the most influential parameters and the drill tool surface condition does not show any general change.

Opis:
This study describes the synthesis of silane terminated urethane, aimed at adding into epoxy acrylate, for the coating purposes. For this aim, firstly, silane terminated urethane was synthesized by the reaction between poly(hexamethylene carbonate) diol and 3-isocyanatopropyltrimethoxysilane. Pre-hydrolyzed TEOS and MEMO mixture was added to the silane terminated urethane. This solution was then mixed with organic part (epoxy acrylate and HDDA) to obtain hybrid solutions. Different organic-inorganic hybrid formulations were applied on polystyrene sheet surfaces by using applicators. The performance of the coatings on polystyrene sheets was investigated by applying physical and chemical tests. The results have shown that physical and chemical properties of polystyrene sheet surfaces were significantly improved.

Opis:
In the present study, first Ti6Al4V alloy was deposited on steel (AISI 1060) surfaces by using ESD method. The optimum electrical parameters for the coating process were investigated to obtain high quality coatings. Then, in order to gain bio-compatibility and obtain second layer, which was coated with hydroxyapatite (HAp), MAO technique was applied on the present coating. Resulting duplex layers were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis together with surface roughness, coating thickness, scratch tests and hardness tests.

Opis:
In this study, micro alloy steel (St 35) surfaces, which were coated with different hard alloy electrode materials via Electro Spark Deposition (ESD) method, have been characterized. The electrode materials were chosen among hard alloys such as; TiCN(Ni), CrC-NiCr, WC(Co) and TiWC(Co). During the ESD experiments, the following pulse parameters in a group were used: pulse current amplitude, pulse duration, electrical charge of 100-200 A, 100 μs, 1000 mC respectively. The surface roughness, thickness of coatings, cross sectional microstructure analysis, phase analysis, micro hardness and adhesion properties of the coated samples were characterized by profilometer, SEM (EDX), XRD, micro hardness tester and scratch adhesion tester respectively.
