Opis:
Temperature dependence of the shear viscosity measured for isotropic liquids belonging to the three homologous series: 4-(trans-4'-n-alkylcyclohexyl) isothiocyanatobenzenes (C$\text{}_{n}$ H$\text{}_{2n+1}$ CyHx Ph NCS; nCHBT, n=0÷12), n-alkylcyanobiphenyls (C$\text{}_{n}$H$\text{}_{2n+1}$ Ph Ph CN; nCB, n=2÷12) and 1,n-alkanediols (HO(CH$\text{}_{2}$)$\text{}_{n}$OH; 1,nAD, n=2÷10) were analysed with the use of Arrhenius equation and its two modifications: Vogel-Fulcher and proposed in this paper. The extrapolation of the isothermal viscosity of 1,n-alkanediols (n=2÷10) to n=1 leads to an interesting conclusion concerning the expected viscosity of methanediol, HOCH$\text{}_{2}$OH, the compound strongly unstable in a pure state.

Opis:
The type-I magnetic contrast in a scanning electron microscope is used to study the domain behaviour on the basal planes of cobalt monocrystals of different thicknesses during a heating cycle. Digital image processing is applied to the original scanning electron microscope images for their restoration, enhancement and analysis. The main reasons for the application of digital image processing are: low level of type-I magnetic contrast, particularly used at the higher temperatures, and the complex character of the magnetic domain structure. The changes in both domain structures and type-I magnetic contrast are due to the strong temperature dependence of magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy for the hcp phase of cobalt, which implies the rotation of magnetic easy axis from the c-axis to the basal plane. The temperature of the magnetic phase transition between an open-flux and a closed-flux domain configuration was found to be dependent on the specimen thickness. The changes in domain structure during the heating cycle were reversible under the condition that the specimen was not carried through the hcp-to-fcc phase transition. Otherwise, they were partially or completely irreversible and were caused by crystal imperfections originating from the transition. The paper shows the great advantage of using digital image processing system for data restoration, enhancement and analysis.

The Gilbert damping for $Co_2CrAl (Co_2Cr_{0.3}Fe_{0.7}Al)$ and $Ni_2MnSn$ Heusler alloy films was investigated as a function of temperature. The best films reveals the Gilbert damping nearly independent of temperature. Magnetic relaxation in $Co_2CrAl$ is strongly influenced by magnetic inhomogeneities due to phase separation. The best $Ni_2MnSn$ epitaxial films have comparable Gilbert damping α of 6× $10^{-3}$ as half-metallic $Co_2Cr_{0.3}Fe_{0.7}Al$ films with α = 3 × $10^{-3}$.

The magnetic domain structure, its transformation with temperature, and the magnetization reversal in 20 nm $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}MnO_{3}$ film grown on $LaAlO_{3}$ substrate by off-axis magnetron sputtering at 700°C and post-annealed at 600°C were studied in a wide temperature range. The magnetic domains with either in-plane- or out-of-plane-orientation of the vector of spontaneous magnetization were observed in the same film depending on the prehistory. The domains with the in-plane magnetization were found to be more stable. Magnetization reversal of the film was shown to occur via the nucleation and motion of 180-degree head-to-head domain walls, the number and the type of which were found to be dependent on temperature. Moreover, the transition between two magnetization reversal regimes was found at 30 K.

Opis:
In this paper, we report on the temperature dependent broadband dielectric response of a ferrofluid based on transformer oil and magnetite nanoparticles covered with oleic acid molecules. For that purpose the method of dielectric spectroscopy has been chosen in the frequency range from 20 Hz up to 100 kHz. The experiments were carried out on thin film ferrofluid samples confined in a glass plate capacitor containing indium tin oxide (ITO) plate electrodes. The obtained complex permittivity spectrum shows a pronounced dielectric dispersion in the low frequency range. Taking into account the ferrofluid composition we associate this relaxation with ion impurity polarization at the nanoparticle-oil interface. The strong temperature dependence of the relaxation process has been found when conducting the experiments in the temperature range from 298 K to 358 K. The relaxation time of the revealed process exhibits a typical Arrhenius behavior. Based on the conducted experiments and analysis, we propose some reasonable practical applications of the studied ferrofluid in the field of electrical engineering.

We report the temperature dependence of lateral infrared photoconductivity in multilayer InGaAs/GaAs heterostructures with selectively doped quantum dots fabricated by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. Two spectral lines of normal-inci dence intersubband photoconductivity (90 meV and 230 meV) and a line originating from interband transitions (930 meV) were observed. The photoconductivity line 230 meV is revealed up to the temperature 140 K. The long-wavelength photoconductivity line 90 meV is quenched rapidly at the temperature 30÷40 K owing to redistribution of photoexcited carriers between small and large dots. The obtained results confirm the hypothesis about bimodal distribution of quantum dot sizes.

We have studied temperature dependencies of the switching field in as-cast and nanocrystalline glass-coated $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_{4}B_{18}$ microwires. The switching field shows complex temperature dependence in the as-cast state reflecting the complex stress distribution induced during annealing. The temperature dependence of the switching field depends strongly on the stage of nanocrystallization being negative for low temperatures of annealing and positive for annealing at 700 K.

Quantum close-coupled calculations of the collisional self-broadening of the 540.06 nm neon line (3s[3/2]$\text{}_{1}$-3p'[1/2]$\text{}_{0}$) are presented for temperatures from 70 K to 900 K. These calculations are based on the quantum-mechanical impact theory of Baranger and represent the interatomic interaction by adiabatic molecular potentials calculated using model potentials for the electron- atom and atomic core-core interactions. The calculated widths and shifts vary smoothly with temperature and are accurately given across the temperature range by fourth order polynomial fits.

The influence of correlation between thermal displacements of atoms in string on the calculated Rutherford backscattering spectra under channelling conditions was studied. This correlation was incorporated into the existing Monte Carlo computer code by means of sampling the displacements from distribution transformed by the variance-covariance matrix. Various methods of implementing the correlation into calculation were used. As a result the deformation of energy spectrum was obtained. The explicit decrease in surface peak due to the correlation was observed. The significance of this effect decreases with increasing temperature. Calculation were performed in a wide region of temperatures, up to the melting point.

The temperature dependence of the zero-bias conductance of the graphene-based, ballistic junction composed of the three consecutive regions: normal, with potential barrier ("insulating") and superconducting (NIS), is analyzed within the extended Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk approach. Within this approach we have found that oscillatory behavior of the conductance as a function of barrier strength is suppressed by the temperature - the amplitude diminishes with heating up the junction. Moreover, the subtle, although nontrivial feature of the system is reported: the average over the period of the oscillations of the zero-bias conductance for relatively small Fermi level mismatch behaves non-monotonically with the increase of the temperature with the maximum roughly at T/$T_{c}$ ≈ 0.5.
