Opis:
We analyzed a diffusion model based on the assumption that the sufficient condition for the mass flux at point x+L to be different from zero is a nonzero value of the impurity gradient and of impurity concentration at point x. In our model, the length of the jump of diffusing particles from one equilibrium position to another has a defined value L. By describing variation of impurity concentration with time when the frequency of the jumps depends on coordinates and L, the nonlinear diffusion equation was derived. We found that the diffusion coefficient in this nonlinear equation is directly proportional to the concentration of impurities, as it had been proposed in earliest papers. The derived nonlinear diffusion equation was solved numerically for the case of spherical symmetry.

A set of experiments investigating diffusion of alkali atoms in the noble gases is reported. A cesium gradient in the cell was induced by electrodeless pulse discharge. In the transient signal of absorption, corresponding to the $\text{}^{2}$S$\text{}_{1}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ -n$\text{}^{2}$P$\text{}_{J}$ transitions, five diffusion modes were observed. The diffusion coefficient D of cesium in helium and argon has been measured in a spherical cell filled with a buffer gas of 2.5 to 30 hPa and for temperatures in the range from 275 K to 400 K.

We considered and solved the nonlinear diffusion equation formerly. The more complicated but more useful task of many-staged diffusion is solved in this paper. The obtained solution satisfies the initial distribution of the impurities and can be generalized for many-staged diffusion. Using these solutions we can take into account all the stages of a planary transistor formation.

Opis:
In this work, we present a study of the effect of diffusion annealing at 700°C for 1 h on the nature and properties of boride layers obtained on XC38 steel through a molten salt consisting of borax (Na₂B₄O₇) and boron carbide (B₄C). We evaluated the changes brought by the diffusion annealing on the morphology of the boride layer, the thickness of this layer, the distribution of elements in the steel, and the hardness. Comparing the results obtained allowed concluding that the diffusion annealing will completely transform the two-phase layer formed of FeB and Fe₂B borides in a single-phase layer consisting of single boride Fe₂B. The transformation of the two-phase boride into a single-phase boride is done with an increase in thickness of about 30% compared to the initial thickness of the sample. The values of Si concentration obtained in the underlying zone after the diffusion annealing treatment are more important than those obtained in the same underlying zone of samples borided directly by immersion in molten salt consisting of borax and silicon carbide (SiC).

In this work, the boriding of binary Ti-Ni shape memory alloys was carried out in a solid medium at 1173 and 1273 K for 2, 4, and 8 h using the powder pack method with Ekabor-Ni powders. The boride layer was characterized by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The obtained results show that boride layer thickness increases with the increasing boriding temperature and time. Depending on temperature and boride layer thickness, the diffusion process is thermally activated, with the mean value of the activation energy being close to 67 kJ/mol.

The present study has been conducted in order to obtaining chromium boride layers on carbon steel using a conversion processing comprising the following steps: boriding treatment in order to increase the amount of boron atoms in the steel surface, deposition of a thin layer of pure chromium using electrolytic method, and finally an annealing treatment for boron diffusion and formation of boride layer until complete transformation of chromium layer. Depending on the method used (chromium deposition followed by boriding or boriding followed by chromium deposition) and the holding time, the partial or complete conversion is obtained as a result of the diffusion process. The role of the annealing temperature on transformation rates of chromium into chromium boride films was investigated. It is shown that for 1 h at 900°C, the chromium layer is totally transformed. The scanning electron microscopy analysis and X-ray diffraction showed the presence of CrB and CrB₂ chromium borides in addition of FeB and Fe₂B iron borides.

Opis:
We will discuss the properties of the nonlinear equation in the nonisothermical case. In our previous papers the diffusion coefficient directly proportional to the concentration of the impurities was proposed and it was exactly defined. Now the nonlinear diffusion equation is solved for the temperature and for the diffusion coefficient depending on time in a special way. The temperature function T(t) has the singularity at the free chosen time moment t$\text{}_{0}$. The obtained analytical solutions define the diffusion profiles for increasing temperatures and in the case of excited systems when the vacancies and the impurity's atoms are not in the thermal equilibrium with lattice. Considering the connection between temperature function and the population of excited states for atoms surrounding vacancies the possibility of the superdiffusion is shown.

Opis:
The model discussed in this paper is a modification of the model of macroeconomic evolution in stable regionally dependent fields, developed by Ausloos, Clippe and Pekalski in 2004. Like in the original model, firms exist on a square lattice and can move, merge, adapt and create spin-offs. However, in the new model the firms are described by a scalar parameter identified with their level of technology and by their market share. The probability of survival of a firm depends on the relation between the firm's technology level and the level of the technological frontier. The model incorporates two mechanisms of technology diffusion - inner (resulting from the cooperation between firms and the creation of spin-offs) and outer (interaction with the technological frontier). In this way, we obtain a model of technological progress with technology diffusion. We investigate the properties of this model and perform empirical analysis for a group of OECD countries.

Using a special analogy to a parametrically forced mathematical pendulum with energy flux, it is attempted here to model the vortex wake in a fluid due to the movement of a cylindrical solid body. We also show that the path taken by certain fluid particles represents a homoclinic soliton and corresponds to a spacial separatrix. This in turn may lead through deterministic fluctuation to diffusion-like chaotic motion.

Opis:
The diffusion is the result of Brownian movement and occurs with a finite velocity. We consider the nonlinear diffusion equation, with diffusion coefficient directly proportional to the impurities concentration. In this case of diffusion from the constant source, the maximum displacements of diffusing particles are proportional to the square root of diffusion time. This result coincides with Brownian movement theory. The obtained analytically solutions were successfully applied for describing the diffusion and superdiffusion experiments' in solids. After theoretical consideration of application of this equation for diffusion in gases, we are investigating here the binary nonlinear diffusion in gases. We obtained the nonlinear interdiffusion equation, for the spherical symmetric case, and presented the approximate analytical solutions.

Depth analysis of metal-doped crystalline silicon by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy technique is presented in this work. The results from this technique are used to complement those from previous techniques. The metals diffused into the silicon are gold, platinum, erbium, and niobium. In silicon, these metals induce defects that are responsible for relaxation behaviour of the material. Relaxation material is radiation-hard since the effects of radiation on devices fabricated on the material are suppressed. Considerable amounts of gold, platinum, and niobium are found in the silicon bulk. The results of this work are in good agreement with those reported earlier on the same samples using the Rutherford backscattering technique. The spectra of the natural contaminants, carbon and oxygen, are also analysed in this work.

The surface diffusion of a potassium dose corresponding to the average coverage Θ̅$\text{}_{K}$ = 1.5 on nickel was studied using the field emission technique in the temperature range of 78-133 K. In general, under such conditions diffusion proceeds with the sharp moving boundary and the activation energy Q from 0.16 eV to 0.36 eV dependently on the crystallographic directions. Free boundary migration with the energy Q < 0.16 eV is expected on the close-packed regions {111} and {001} already at liquid N$\text{}_{2}$ temperature. The results are discussed in relation to the atomic structure of the nickel substrate taking into account the interaction in the adsorption layer.

The angular correlations of annihilation radiation for the alloy appeared to be more similar to the one for NaI than it should be expected from the content of NaI in the alloy. The result can be easily explained by assuming that NaI/NaF interface acts directionally on positron diffusion movement.
