Opis:
The paper is devoted to the problem of robust stability of positive linear discrete-time systems with delays in the case of structured perturbations of state matrices. Simple new necessary and sufficient conditions for robust stability in the general case and in the case of system with linear uncertainty structure are established for two sub-cases: 1) unity rank uncertainty structure, 2) non-negative perturbation matrices. It is shown that robust stability of the positive discrete-time linear system with delays is equivalent to: 1) robust stability of the corresponding positive system without delays of the same order as time-delay system - in the general case, 2) asymptotic stability of finite family of the positive vertex systems without delays - in the case of a linear unity rank uncertainty structure, 3) asymptotic stability of only one positive vertex system without delays - in the case of a linear uncertainty structure with non-negative perturbation matrices.

The adaptive control problem for a jump linear system with quadratic cost functional on infinite time interval is solved in this paper. It is assumed that the coefficients of the state equation are unknown but a compact set that contains the parameters is known. A diminishing excitation accompanies the adaptive control signal, to ensure the strong consistency of the weighted least squares algorithm.

Opis:
It is shown that a descriptor system under the condition of impulse controllability, Cobb (1984), may be converted, by means of linear transformations, to a system described in a state space and composed of state and output equations. The transfomations determine one to one correspondence between the solutions of both the systems. It is noted that the control in a feedback form may not determine a unique solution of the descriptor system what is often overlooked in many previous papers. It is also shown that the LCD problem formulated in a descriptor space for the impulse observable system, Cobb (1984); may be converted by means of linear transformations to the usual LQ problem formulated in the state space. It is stressed that the second problem may be regular even then, when the weighting matrix of the control, in the cost functional of the first problem, is singular. The proposed approach simplifies the calculations related to the LQ problem solution significantly.

Opis:
Continuous-time positive systems, switching among p subsystems whose matrices differ by a rank one matrix, are introduced, and a complete characterization of the existence of a common linear copositive Lyapunov function for all the subsystems is provided. Also, for this class of systems it is proved that a well-known necessary condition for asymptotic stability, namely the fact that All convex combinations of the system matrices are Hurwitz, becomes equivalent to the generally weaker condition that the systems matrices are Hurwitz. In the special case of two-dimensional systems, this allows for drawing a complete characterization of asymptotic stability. Finally, the case when there are only two subsystems, possibly with commuting matrices, is investigated.

Tanaka (1991) suggested that the parameters of a linear regression model should be made fuzzy In order to better reflect the nature of the system, involving a definite degree of variability, and created a fuzzy linear regression model. This model can be formulated in the form of a linear programming problem that minimizes the span between the upper and lower limits under the constraints that include all data. In recent years, all the attention in this context has been focused on a fuzzy number that has an indifferent zone. A fuzzy number that we consider here is defined by using a type 2 membership function. This paper addresses the fact that a type 2 membership function has the upper and lower limits and shows that a type 2 membership function can be identified by expanding a fuzzy linear regression model into a fuzzy linear polynomial regression model. Finally, after a proposed fuzzy polynomial model is identified, a mathematical model is developed for a fuzzy decision-making method that accounts for an indifferent zone.

An important issue in immunization theory is the form of the interest rate process under which immunization is feasible. This paper generalizes Fisher and Weil immunization result to convex interest rate shifts, and examines the practical significance of this generalization. We examine the features of a linear factor model that are consistent with a convex shift. In particular, we show that a specific two factor linear model is sufficient and necessary for a convex shift. This two factor specification allows parallel and damped yield curve shifts, which in combination can twist the yield curie.

The control problem with random horizon at finie number of events is investigated in this paper, where the general aim of control is the stabilization (in mean square sense) of linear system at minimum cost. This problem is reduced to the task of optima control with established finite horizon. Moreover, the differences between stabilization with fixed and random horizons are also given. To illustrate those differences a numerical example is included.

Opis:
We consider the problem of uniform stabilization of nonlinear hyperbolic equations, epitomized by the following three canonical dynamics: (1) the wave equation in the natural state space L2(Ω) x H^-1(Ω), under nonlinear (and non-local) boundary dissipation in the Dirichlet B.C., as well as nonlinear internal damping; (2) a corresponding Kirchhoff equation in the natural state space [wzór), under nonlinear boundary dissipation in the 'moment' B.C. as well as nonlinear internal damping; (3) the system of dynamic elasticity corresponding to (1). All three dynamics possess a strong, hard-to-show 'boundary → boundary' regularity property, which was proved, also by invoking a micro-local argument, in Lasiecka and Triggiani (2004, 2008). This is by no means a general property of hyperbolic or hyperbolic-like dynamics (Lasiecka and Triggiani, 2003, 2008). The present paper, as a continuation of Lasiecka and Triggiani (2008), seeks to take advantage of this strong regularity property in the case of those PDE dynamics where it holds true. Thus, under the above boundary → boundary regularity, as well as exact controllability of the corresponding linear model, uniform stabilization of nonlinear models is obtained under minimal nonlinear assumptions, provided that a corresponding unique continuation property holds true. The treatment of the present paper is cast in the abstract setting (Lasiecka, 1989, 2001; Lasiecka and Triggiani, 2000, Ch. 7, 2003, 2008), which is proper for these hyperbolic dynamics and recovers the results of Lasiecka and Triggiani (2003, 2008) in the absence of the nonlinear interior damping, in particular in the linear case.

Artificial immune systems (AIS) have become popular among researchers and have been applied to a variety of tasks. Developing supervised learning algorithms based on metaphors from the immune system is still an area in which there is much to explore. In this paper a novel supervised immune algorithm based on clonal selection framework is proposed. It evolves a population of linear classifiers used to construct a set of classification rules. Aggregating strategies, such as bagging and boosting, are shown to work well with the proposed algorithm as the base classifier.
