Opis:
The effect of the passage of agricultural machinery on the soil is influenced by, for example, the inflation pressure in tyres. This article describes the effect of different tyre inflation pressures (200 and 100 kPa) on selected physical soil properties in the field experiment. The undisturbed samples were collected both in and between the tracks at depths of 0 to 0.5 m and subsequently processed according to a valid methodology in the laboratory. The results indicate that fewer negative changes were found in the variant with a lower inflation pressure for all of the observed soil properties (front wheels load 2 990 kg and rear wheels 11 760 kg). However, the differences between the pressures were not statistically significant. The impact of different tyre pressures at greater depths has also not been proven to date. This may be attributed to the creation of a plough pan due to the long-term use of the minimization technique because the values of individual properties were balanced at a depth of 0.2 to 0.3 m. These depths do not react to further tractor compaction due to the accumulation of compaction. Changes to the values of soil physical properties caused by the passage of the tractor were statistically significant for both tyre pressure variants only at depths ranging from 0 to 0.1 m.

Opis:
In order to optimize the design and working parameters of agricultural machinery related to harvesting, knowledge about the physical properties and mechanical behaviour of harvest-ready maize is required. Previous studies have been conducted on different maize varieties from different parts of the world in different growing seasons. However, these experiments were usually conducted on dried or deep-frozen samples and therefore the condition of these samples was not related to the harvested material. In order to produce more relevant experimental results, a complex measurement method that involves in-situ observations and laboratorial experiments was established after taking into consideration the process of maize harvesting with a combine harvester and a maize header. The measurement method was successfully conducted over a period of days of harvesting in Hungary. With regard to the physical properties of the stalk, the distribution of the internodal diameter and the length, mass and moisture content of the stalk were determined. The mechanical behaviour of the stalk was analysed through transversal compression, three-point bending and dynamic cutting experiments. The results clearly demonstrate that the physical properties (diameter, length and wet-mass ratio, moisture content) and mechanical properties (force response characteristic and required mechanical work) of different parts of the maize stalk vary significantly. Therefore, different parts of the maize stalk require different considerations during machine development.

Opis:
The main aim of the study was to determine selected characteristics of extruded snacks supplemented with Dracocephalum moldavica L. seeds added to the recipe in amounts ranging from 5 to 20% of the basic raw material composition. The effect of the screw speed on the selected corn-based snacks characteristics has also been been studied. A single-screw extruder was employed to obtain the snacks in the form of readyto- eat extrudates. Several properties were evaluated, among them: the expansion ratio, the water absorption and solubility indices as well as pasting properties, depending on the level of the additive and the screw speeds applied. Extruded snacks supplemented with Dracocephalum moldavica L. seeds exhibited an enhanced nutritional value compared with corn snacks due to the high content of fibre, protein and ash. The addition of the seeds decreased the expansion ratio significantly. The water absorption index of the snacks decreased as the level of seed addition in the processed blends was raised, while the water solubility index was significantly affected by the variable screw speed during the processing of the supplemented snacks. The recommended level of Dracocephalum moldavica seeds in corn-based snacks should not exceed 15% due to the high nutritional value as well as the high expansion and efficient treatment intensity of the components resulting in the ready-to-eat characteristic of the supplemented snacks.

Opis:
The effect of irrigation and nutrient treatments on physical properties of safflower seeds was investigated. Physical properties of safflower seeds were determined at a moisture content of 7% w.b. The parameters determined at different treatments were: size, geometric mean diameter, sphericity, surface area, mass, volume, bulk and true densities, porosity, and static and dynamic coefficient of friction. The results showed a better effect of the use of organic fertilizers in comparison with chemical ones. The results showed that nutrient and irrigation treatments had a significant effect on most of the physical properties of safflower seeds at p<0.01.

Opis:
The prospect of depletion of natural energy resources on the Earth forces researchers to seek and explore new and alternative energy sources. Biomass is a composite resource that can be used in many ways leading to diversity of products. Therefore, microalgal biomass offers great potential. The main aim of this study is to find the best physical method of microalgal bio- mass pretreatment that guarantees efficient lipid extraction. These studies identifies biochemical composition of microalgal biomass as source for biodisel production. The influence of drying at dif- ferent temperatures and lyophilization was investigated. In addi- tion, wet and untreated biomass was examined. Cell disruption (sonication and microwave) techniques were used to improve lipid extraction from wet biomass. Additionally, two different extrac- tion methods were carried out to select the best method of crude oil extraction. The results of this study show that wet biomass after sonication is the most suitable for extraction. The fatty acid com- position of microalgal biomass includes linoleic acid (C18:2), palmitic acid (C16:0), oleic acid (C18:1), linolenic acid (C18:3), and stearic acid (C18:0), which play a key role in biodiesel production.
