Opis:
We introduce seven new versions of the Kirchhoff-Law-Johnson-(like)-Noise (KLJN) classical physical secure key exchange scheme and a new transient protocol for practically-perfect security. While these practical improvements offer progressively enhanced security and/or speed for non-ideal conditions, the fundamental physical laws providing the security remain the same. In the “intelligent” KLJN (iKLJN) scheme, Alice and Bob utilize the fact that they exactly know not only their own resistor value but also the stochastic time function of their own noise, which they generate before feeding it into the loop. By using this extra information, they can reduce the duration of exchanging a single bit and in this way they achieve not only higher speed but also an enhanced security because Eve's information will significantly be reduced due to smaller statistics. In the “multiple” KLJN (MKLJN) system, Alice and Bob have publicly known identical sets of different resistors with a proper, publicly known truth table about the bit-interpretation of their combination. In this new situation, for Eve to succeed, it is not enough to find out which end has the higher resistor. Eve must exactly identify the actual resistor values at both sides. In the “keyed” KLJN (KKLJN) system, by using secure communication with a formerly shared key, Alice and Bob share a proper time-dependent truth table for the bit-interpretation of the resistor situation for each secure bit exchange step during generating the next key. In this new situation, for Eve to succeed, it is not enough to find out the resistor values at the two ends. Eve must also know the former key. The remaining four KLJN schemes are the combinations of the above protocols to synergically enhance the security properties. These are: the “intelligent-multiple” (iMKLJN), the “intelligent-keyed” (iKKLJN), the “keyed-multiple” (KMKLJN) and the “intelligent-keyed-multiple” (iKMKLJN) KLJN key exchange systems. Finally, we introduce a new transient-protocol offering practically-perfect security without privacy amplification, which is not needed in practical applications but it is shown for the sake of ongoing discussions.

Opis:
The comprehensive evaluation of the smart grid is of great significance to the development of the power grid. This study mainly analyzed the coordinated planning of major networks and power distribution networks of the grid. Firstly, the coordinated planningof major networks and power distribution networks was introduced, then a comprehen-sive evaluation index system was established based on six domains, i.e., economy, safety, reliability, coordination, environmental protection, and automation. The evaluation of the indexes was realized through the expert scoring method. Finally, taking the power grid planning of Boao Town, Qionghai City, Hainan Province, China, as an example, the current scheme and planning scheme were evaluated. The results showed that the planning schemehad better performance in aspects such as economy and reliability, and its score was 15.39% higher than the current scheme, which verifies the effectiveness of the planning scheme andits feasible application in practical projects.

Opis:
Abstract:With growing demand for energy, power generated in renewable sources at various locations are distributed throughout the power grid. The power grid known as the smart grid needs to monitor power generation and its smart distribution. Smart meters provide solutions for monitoring power over smart grids. Smart meters need to continuously log data and at every source there is a large amount of data generated that needs to be compressed for both storage and transmission over the smart grid. In this paper, a novel algorithm for PQ data compression is proposed that uses the Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DTCWT) for sub-band computation and a modified quantizer is designed to reduce subband coefficient limits to less than 4 bits. The Run Length Encoding (RLC) and Huffman Coding algorithm encode the data further to achieve compression. The performance metrics such as a peak-signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and compression ratio (CR) are used for evaluation and it is found that the modified DTCWT (MDTCWT) improves PSNR by a factor of 3% and the mean squared error (MSE) by a factor of 16% as compared with the DTCWT based PQ compression algorithm.

The work is intended to extend the application of a smart transformer on a radialdistribution system. In this paper, an updated algorithm on the backward/forward powerflow is introduced. The so-called direct approach of power flow is employed and analyzed. In addition, the paper focused on integrating a smart transformer to the network and solvingthe updating network also using the direct approach load flow. The solution of the smarttransformer using the direct approach power flow method is quite straightforward. Thismodel is applied to radial distribution systems which are the IEEE 33- and IEEE 69-bussystems as a case study. Also, the paper optimizes the best allocation of the smart transformerto reduce the power losses of the grid.

Opis:
The smart grid concept is predicated upon the pervasive use of advanced digital communication, information techniques, and artificial intelligence for the current power system, to be more characteristics of the real-time monitoring and controlling of the supply/demand. Microgrids are modern types of power systems used for distributed energy resource (DER) integration. However, the microgrid energy management, the control, and protection of microgrid components (energy sources, loads, and local storage units) is an important challenge. In this paper, the distributed energy management algorithm and control strategy of a smart microgrid is proposed using an intelligent multi-agent system (MAS) approach to achieve multiple objectives in real-time. The MAS proposed is developed with co-simulation tools, which the microgrid model, simulated using MATLAB/Simulink, and the MAS algorithm implemented in JADE through a middleware MACSimJX. The main study is to develop a new approach, able to communicate a multi-task environment such as MAS inside the S-function block of Simulink, to achieve the optimal energy management objectives.

Opis:
This paper introduces a fuzzy logic (FL) based decision support system (DSS) for a three-phase bidirectional AC-DC grid converter, working in a modern grid-like smart grid or smart industry. It is assumed that the appliances connected to that grid interact as in the Internet of Things (IoT) or like in the Internet of Everything (IoE) i.e. with a human being located in the chain of data flow. A power electronics AC-DC converter, operating as a shunt active power filter (SAPF) is selected for the case study. A harmonics reduction algorithm is presented as an implementation sample of the DSS. The operation of the SAPF is described and analysed. Experimental results showing the tuning process and operation of the laboratory model are also presented and discussed. Finally, it is shown that the DSS is an elegant and intuitive interface, which can simplify a human’s or machine’s decision-making process. Thanks to the DSS, the meaning of transferred data is translated into linguistic variables that can be understood by non-experts. Hence, it is expected that the amount of transferred data in the smart grid and in the IoE would be reduced. But in the same time, the high quality of the controlled process is retained, as shown by the example of a conventional SAPF.

In the paper a bi-directional power electronic interface based on an inductive coupled contactless energy transfer system for plug-in vehicles with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability is presented. To minimize the total losses of the system, a series resonant compensation circuit is applied assuring Near to Zero-Current Switching (N2ZCS) condition for insulated-gate bipolar transistors. The analytical expression of the dc voltage and current gains as well as energy transfer efficiency is given and discussed. The system uses modified FPGA based integral control method adjusting resonant frequency and guarantees very fast and stable operation. Simulation and experimental results illustrating properties of the developed 40-60kHz switching frequency operated 15kW laboratory prototype are presented.

Opis:
In this paper, a review of Phase Locked Loop (PLL) algorithms and symmetrical component extraction methods intended for grid-connected power electronic converters are presented. Proposed classification is based on voltage representation in three coordinates: natural (abc), stationary (alfa beta) and rotating coordinates (dq). The three selected algorithms are described in details: Dual Second Order Generalized Integrator (DSOGI-PLL), Dual Virtual Flux – both in stationary coordinates. The third one, in rotating dq coordinates, is Dual Synchronous Reference Frame PLL (DSRF-PLL). A comparison of PLL algorithms is presented. Also, selected experimental results are given to verify practical application of discussed algorithms.
