Opis:: The effect of the power amplifier on speech intelligibility in public address systems is often marginalised – i.e. it is assumed that it does not introduce significant signal distortion. This approach is justified when the linear range of the amplifier is used. The large crest factor of the speech signal and economic considerations mean that the amplifier also works in the non-linear range. In this paper, the effect of power amplifier distortion on the speech transmission index for public address systems (STIPA) is presented. In the first step, this influence was evaluated by measurements for Class AB and D amplifiers. Then, a computer model of the public address system based on the direct STIPA method, taking into account the non-linear properties of the amplifier, was proposed. Using the computer model, the optimum amplifier driving values were determined taking into account the reverberation time and interfering noise.speech transmission index; power amplifier; public address system.

Opis:: Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza przemian współczesnej formy sprawowania władzy. Autorzy na bazie literatury przedmiotu rekonstruują pokrótce przyczyny upowszechnienia się w socjologii „miękkiego” ujęcia władzy, a więc takiego, które bada przede wszystkim bezpodmiotowe formy jej sprawowania, zwłaszcza poza instytucjami państwa. Następnie interpretują społeczne uwarunkowania rosnącej tęsknoty za tradycyjnie pojętą władzą, a także charakteryzują ważne wymiary, które świadczyć mogą o jej dzisiejszym przywracaniu w obrębie instytucji kształtujących porządek społeczny. W podsumowaniu podejmują próbę określenia możliwych skutków analizowanego zjawiska dekapilaryzacji władzy, zwłaszcza dla modelu władzy, który może się zeń wyłonić.
This article focuses on analyzing changes in modern forms of governance. On the basis of the literature, the authors briefly reconstruct the reasons why sociology is adopting a “soft” approach to power, that is, one that primarily explores its exercise in subjectless forms, especially outside of state institutions. The authors next consider the social conditions producing a growing desire for a more traditional kind of power, and identify the key factors that could indicate its restoration in the institutions shaping the social order of today. In conclusion, the authors attempt to determine the possible effects of a “decapillarization” of power, and especially the model of power/ governance that could emerge from it.

Opis:: Analyses of contemporary forms of public life reveal that they increasingly often include the presence of various artistic activities. The traditional image of artists, in which they are largely identified as passive observers of the public sphere, must more andmore frequently be confronted with the growing aspirations of contemporary artists in the sphere of civic communication. The article’s main aim is to show how theoreticians outside the art world support this trend through the fashionable discourses of contemporary humanism that try to define the role of art in public life. In their endeavours, artists acquire advocates among recognized representatives of the academic world: for instance, Pierre Bourdieu, Rosalyn Deutsche, or Chantal Mouffe, to name a few. The intellectual support granted to artists today plays an unusually important role in creating their public missions, to which the intellectuals are happy to add their names. Taking inspiration from the work of Michel Foucault and Nikolas Rose, the author proposes that tne intellectualisation of art should be considered a new version of ‘power-knowledge’.
