Opis:
The Ni-Cr-Mo alloys are used as the alternative for the cobalt alloys in the manufacture of metal prosthetic elements, i.e. crowns, bridges and frame prostheses. The article attempts at a materials science characterization of the nickel-based alloy of the commercial name Argeloy N.P Be-Free by Argen. Within the study, examinations were made on the commercial alloy as well as the alloy which was remelted and cast by the los mould (lost wax) method. Observations of the microstructure were performed with the use of optical and electron scanning microscopy. Also, X-ray structural tests were conducted as well as corrosion resistance tests in an artificial saliva solution (pH = 6,7). It was demonstrated that the examined Ni-22Cr-9Mo alloy characterized in a dendritic structure typical of the cast materials. The X-ray qualitative phase analysis revealed the phase γ'(Ni) in both examined materials, as well as the presence of Cr23C6 type carbides and Nb2C, Ta2C (commercial alloy) and NbC, Ta4C0,04 (cast alloy) phases. The effect of the alloy’s remelting and the morphology of the passive layer on the corrosion resistance of the Ni-Cr-Mo alloy was examined. The results of the electrochemical tests show that the process of re-casting only slightly affects the corrosion resistance and the microstructure of the considered alloy. The roles of recasting process and the passive film homogeneity on the corrosion resistance of Ni-Cr-Mo dental alloy were reviewed. The results the electrochemical study show that the dependence of corrosion resistance on the microstructure associated with the recasting process is marginal.

Opis:
A commercial cobalt alloy applied in dental prosthetics was investigated. The scope of the work included the microstructure analysis, performance examination (tensile strength, microhardness, corrosion resistance), and dilatometric examination. The investigated alloy after a single remelting was characterised by higher tensile strength and hardness. There were not found the definite results with regard to the corrosion resistance of the examined materials. No significant change occurred in the coefficient of thermal expansion.

Opis:
Due to the frequent occurrence of casting defects in the casting process of metal prosthetic elements, studies aiming at identifying the defects and determining their probable causes were performed. The work presents the results of the examinations of the Co-Cr-Mo alloy, brand name Argeloy N.P. Special, used for prosthetic restorations. Macroscopic and microscopic observations were conducted with the use of light and scanning microscopy (SEM). Also, the results of the observations by means of a 3D scanner by GOM ATOS 3 were presented. The performed research made it possible to determine and classify casting defects such as blisters, misruns and interscrystalline cracks. It was stated that a stabilized technological process affects the elimination of the casting defect formation.

Opis:
The work presents the results of the studies of Co-Cr-Mo casting alloys used in the production of frame casts of removable dentures, crowns and bridges in dental prosthetics. The studies were performed on four Co-Cr-Mo alloys of different contents of Mo, W and other additives. Electrochemical tests were performed, which aimed at examining the corrosion resistance of the alloys and observing the alloy structure after chronoamperometric tests with the potential in the area of the occurrence of the passive layer breakpoint. The alloy microstructure images after chronoamperometric tests show the presence of non-uniformly distributed general corrosion. Moreover, a project of cobalt alloy casting was elaborated using a ceramic mold casting. Additionally, analysis of the obtained microstructure was performed. The microstructure of the examined alloys was of the dendrite type. This microstructure was chemically inhomogeneous and consisted of an austenitic matrix formed by a solid cobalt solution and chromium in the core dendritic structure.

Opis:
The presented work provides the results of the abrasive wear resistance tests performed on Co-Cr-Mo and Co-Cr-Mo-W alloys with the use of the Miller’s apparatus. The analyzed alloys underwent microstructure observations as well as hardness measurements, and the abraded surfaces of the examined materials were observed by means of electron scanning microscopy. The performed examinations made it possible to state that the Co-Cr alloys characterized in a high hardness, whereas the changes in the mass decrement were minimal, which proved a high abrasive wear resistance.

Opis:
In the article we were studing the impact of the remelting on transformations in Co-Cr-Mo prosthetics alloy. The TDA curves were analyzed, the microstructure was examined, the analysis of the chemical composition and hardness using the Brinell method was made. It was found that the obtained microstructure of the alloys that we studied do not differ significantly. In all four samples, microscopic images were similar to each other. The volume, size and distribution of the phases remain similar. Analysis of the chemical composition showed that all the samples fall within the compositions provided for the test alloy. Further to this the hardness of the samples, regardless of the number of remeltings did not show any significant fluctuations and remained within the error limit. After analyzing all the results, it can be concluded that the remeltings of the alloys should not have a significant impact on their properties. Secondarily melted alloys can be used for prosthetics works.
