Opis:
High-tech manufacturing such as machining at high speeds, laser, electrical discharge machining are highly energy intensive. Automation of assistant processes such as transport, storage, quality control also causes increasing of energy consumption. In this context, important is estimating and minimize the volume used energy. The main contribution of paper is the evaluation method of energy production processes in automated production systems, based on the equation energy formulation. Simple calculation energy consumption example was also presented for elementary transport operations in a high storage depot. Implantation this method enables rating power consumption of manufacturing process on design stage where used are technical subsystems such as: machines, conveyors, manipulators etc. Designing processes with power rating consumption enable saving energy in manufacturing processes that is important for their economic efficiency.

Opis:
The article deals with the issues involved in evaluating the process state on the basis of many measures, including: process parameters, diagnostic signals and events occurring during the process. These measures as well as those measurements traditionally used in the evaluation of process capability, offer a relevant source of information about the manufacturing process and the authors attempted to ascertain the most suitable method, or group of methods, for achieving this. They present the main criteria for the categorization division of the methods of the manufacturing process state evaluation and, from those identified, distinguish the traditional from Data Mining methods. The authors then specify some basic requirements regarding the desired method or group of methods and focus on the classification problem. A division and classification of the methods is made and briefly described. Finally, the authors specify the criteria for their selection of the Data Mining method type as being the most appropriate for the evaluation of the manufacturing process state and, from within this type, offer the most suitable groups of methods. Some directions for further research are discussed at the end of the article.

Opis:
The issues of copper production strategy for the Polish copper industry are presented in the article. The problem is considered within the scope of the ore extraction, ore concentration and metallurgical processing of the copper concentrate and the main aim is to produce the specific amount of copper, which generates maximum technological and economic benefits. In order to determine the strategy of production for a company an optimisation approach may be applied with the target function defined as either the maximization of metal recovery or the maximization of profit. The real operating conditions are implemented into the model, together with existing limitation resulting from the concentration technology and metallurgical treatment. The problem verification was possible with using of non-linear programming theory. Two variants were considered: the first for lower production costs, and the second for low stock market prices. The presented optimal strategies determine the copper grades of concentrates as well as the system of concentrates distribution between three smelters. Generally smelters should receive concentrates with higher copper grades for low stock market metal prices and for low processing costs the mass of concentrates delivered to smelters should be higher together with decreased the copper grades.

Opis:
The experimental material consisted of semi-finished products of high-grade, medium-carbon constructional steel with: manganese, chromium, nickel, molybdenum and boron. The experimental material consisted of steel products obtained in three metallurgical processes: electric and desulfurized (E), electric and desulfurized with argon-refined (EA) and oxygen converter with vacuum degassed of steel (KP). The production process involved two melting technologies; in a 140-ton basic arc furnace with desulphurisation and argon refining variants, and in a 100-ton oxygen converter. Billet samples were collected to analyze: relative volume of impurities, microstructure and fatigue tests. The samples were quenched and austenitized at a temperature of 880 C for 30 minutes. They were then cooled in water and tempered by holding the sections at a temperature of 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 C for 120 minutes and air-cooled. Fatigue tests were performed with the use of a rotary bending machine at a frequency of 6000 cpm. The results were statistical processed and presented in graphic form. This paper discusses the results of microstructural analyses, the distribution of the relative volume of impurities in different size ranges, the fatigue strength characteristics of different production processes, the average number of sampledamaging cycles and the average values of the fatigue strength coefficient for various heat processing options.

Opis:
In the era of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the rapid development of modelling in production processes results in the implementation of new techniques, such as additive manufacturing (AM) technologies. However, large investments in the devices in the field of AM technologies require prior analysis to identify the possibilities of improving the production process flow. This paper proposes a new approach to determine and optimize the production process flow with improvements made by the AM technologies through the application of the Petri net theory. The existing production process is specified by a Petri net model and optimized by AM technology. The modified version of the system is verified and validated by the set of analytic methods safeguarding against the formal errors, deadlocks, or unreachable states. The proposed idea is illustrated by an example of a real-life production process.

Opis:
This paper presents an overview of a research on six practical cases that were solved in a precise casting company where parts are cast by the mean of the low-wax casting method (investment casting) in order to decrease poor quality production. The steel cast parts production technology by the lost-wax method requires the detailed work procedures observation. On the base of statistical processing data of given types of casting products, it was possible to assess the significance of each particular checking events by using the statistical hypothesis testing. The attention was focused on wax and ceramic departments. The data in technological flow were compared before and after the implementation of the change and statistical confirmative influences were assessed. The target consisted in setting such control manners in order to get the right conditions for decreasing poor quality parts. It was evidenced that the cast part defect cause correct identification and interpretation is important.
