In the paper the extremal dynamic error x(τ) and the moment of time τ are considered. The extremal value of dynamic error gives information about accuracy of the system. The time τ gives information about velocity of transient. The analytical formulae enable design of the system with prescribed properties. These formulae are calculated due to the assumption that x(τ) is a function of the roots s1, ..., sn of the characteristic equation.

Opis:
Methodological problems of how awareness during learning should be measured have been extensively discussed and investigated in cognitive psychology. This review considers; 1)whether amnesics can perform implicit learning tasks at a similar level to normal controls, 2) whether differences in instructional orientations create dissociations in performance in tests of implicit and explicit knowledge, and 3) whether participants can retrospectively verbalise the learning outcomes. The paper concludes that; (1) amnesics’ implicit learning abilities differ from the normal controls, (2) instructions on implicit learning do not guarantee the occurrence of implicit learning, and (3) objective and subjective awareness measures used in the literature face inherent problems and so the awareness controversy remains unsettled.

We consider the so-called homing problem for discrete-time Markov chains. The aim is to optimally control the Markov chain until it hits a given boundary. Depending on a parameter in the cost function, the optimizer either wants to maximize or minimize the time spent by the controlled process in the continuation region. Particular problems are considered and solved explicitly. Both the optimal control and the value function are obtained.

If market repeatability is assumed, it is possible with some real probability to deduct short term market changes by making some calculations. The algorithm, based on logical and statistically reasonable scheme to make decisions about opening or closing position on a market, is called an automated strategy. Due to market volatility, all parameters are changing from time to time, so there is need to constantly optimize them. This article describes a team organization process when researching market strategies. Individual team members are merged into small groups, according to their responsibilities. The team members perform data processing tasks through a cascade organization, providing solutions to speed up work related to the use of remote computing resources. They also work out how to store results in a suitable way, according to the type of task, and facilitate the publication of a large amount of results.

This research deals with problems of low standardization of words in the Gamo textbooks, an Afro-asiatic Omotic language of Ethiopia. Problems of designating one concept in two or more words, using different linguistic forms for the same grammatical function and degeminating and shortening long consonant and vowel segments were observed. These problems reduce the quality of the textbooks and mother tongue education and put pedagogical and cognitive burden on students.
Niniejsze badanie dotyczy problemów związanych z niską standaryzacją słów w podręcznikach Gamo, afroazjatyckim języku omotycznym Etiopii. Zaobserwowano problemy z wyznaczeniem jednego pojęcia w dwóch lub więcej słowach, przy użyciu różnych form językowych dla tej samej funkcji gramatycznej i degeminacji oraz skrócenia długich spółgłoskowych i samogłoskowych segmentów. Problemy te obniżają jakość podręczników i nauki języka ojczystego oraz obciążają uczniów pedagogicznie i poznawczo.

In this paper a greedy algorithm for some variants of the sequencing by hybridization method is presented. In the standard version of the method information about repetitions is not available. In the paper it is assumed that a partial information of this type is a part of the problem instance. Here two simple but realistic models of this information are taken into consideration. The first one assumes it is known if a given element of a spectrum appears in the target sequence once or more than once. The second model uses the knowledge is a given element of a spectrum occurs in the analyzed sequence once, twice or at least three times. The proposed greedy algorithm solves the variant of the problem with positive and negative errors. Results of a computational experiment are reported which, among others, confirm that the additional information leads to the improvement of the obtained solutions. They also show that the more precise model of information increases the quality of reconstructed sequences.

The Fourier method is applied to the description of the room acoustics field with the combination of uniform impedance boundary conditions imposed on some walls. These acoustic boundary conditions are expressed by absorption coefficient values In this problem, the Fourier method is derived as the combination of three one-dimensional Sturm-Liouville (S-L) problems with Robin-Robin boundary conditions at the first and second dimension and Robin-Neumann ones at the third dimension. The Fourier method requires an evaluation of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Helmholtz equation, via the solution of the eigenvalue equation, in all directions. The graphic-analytical method is adopted to solve it It is assumed that the acoustic force constitutes a monopole source and finally the forced acoustic field is calculated. As a novelty, it is demonstrated that the Fourier method provides a useful and efficient approach for a room acoustics with different values of wall impedances. Theoretical considerations are illustrated for rectangular cross-section of the room with particular ratio. Results obtained in the paper will be a point of reference to the numerical calculations.

Opis:
Electromagnetic arrangements which create a magnetic field of required distribution and magnitude are widely used in electrical engineering. Development of new accurate designing methods is still a valid topic of technical investigations. From the theoretical point of view the problem belongs to magnetic fields synthesis theory. This paper discusses a problem of designing a shape of a solenoid which produces a uniform magnetic field on its axis. The method of finding an optimal shape is based on a genetic algorithm (GA) coupled with Bézier curves.

In the paper the problem of the cast iron substitute thermal capacity estimation is discussed. This parameter appears when the macroscopic mathematical model of alloys solidification bases on the one domain method (fixed domain approach). In the case of cast iron the form of function describing the course of temperature-dependent thermal capacity is quite complex. Using the experimental data, in particular the measured cooling, heating curves at the set of points selected in the casting – mould domain the identification problem has been solved using the gradient methods. The results presented concern the gray iron 3.21% C and 1.9% Si.
