POLISH COMMUNITY IN LONDON - Opis:
- This article describes issues related to the internal complexity of the Polish community in Britain, and the mutual relations between its members. The case of London, a city with the highest concentration of Poles in the UK is considered. The starting point for the analysis is a presentation of the circumstances of Polish emigration to Britain after World War II, in the period of political transformation, and in the first phase of the post-accession flow. Later, the paper compares the postwar and the post-accession migrants - their spatial distributions, employment structures, and housing situations. Lastly, the article presents the factors which determine the contacts between the members of the Polish community. Undoubtedly, what is very important are the differences in the type of migration, which was either political or economic.
