The invariant properties of the stability, reachability, observability and transfer matrices of positive linear electrical circuits with integer and fractional orders are investigated. It is shown that the stability, reachability, observability and transfer matrix of positive linear systems are invariant under their integer and fractional orders.

Opis:
Responses of positive standard and fractional continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems with derivatives of their inputs are presented herein. It is shown that the formulae for state vectors and outputs are also valid for their derivatives if the inputs and outputs and their derivatives of suitable order are zero for t = 0. Similar results are also shown for positive standard and fractional discrete-time linear systems.

Opis:
The stability of positive linear continuous-time and discrete-time systems is analyzed by the use of the decomposition of the state matrices into symmetrical and antisymmetrical parts. It is shown that: 1) The state Metzler matrix of positive continuous-time linear system is Hurwitz if and only if its symmetrical part is Hurwitz; 2) The state matrix of positive linear discrete-time system is Schur if and only if its symmetrical part is Hurwitz. These results are extended to inverse matrices of the state matrices of the positive linear systems.

Opis:
The asymptotic stability of positive switched linear systems for any switchings is addressed. Simple sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of positive switched continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems are established. It is shown that the positive switched continuous-time (discrete-time) system is asymptotically stable for any switchings if the sum of entries of every column of the matrices of subsystems is negative (less than 1)

Opis:
Positive reachability of time-variant linear positive systems on arbitrary time scales is studied. It is shown that the system is positively reachable if and only if a modified Gram matrix corresponding to the system is monomial. The general criterion is then specified for particular cases of continuous-time systems and various classes of discrete-time systems. It is shown that in the case of continuous-time systems with analytic coefficients the conditions for positive reachability are very restrictive, similarly as for time-invariant systems.

The problem of computation of initial conditions and inputs for given outputs of fractional standard and positive discrete-time linear systems is formulated and solved. Necessary and sufficient conditions for existence of solution to the problem are established. It is shown that there exist the unique solutions to the problem only if the pair (A, C) of the system is observable.

Opis:
A method for checking the positivity and finding the solution to the positive fractional descriptor continuous-time linear systems with singular pencils is proposed. The method is based on elementary row and column operations of the fractional descriptor systems to equivalent standard systems with some algebraic constraints on state variables and inputs. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of the fractional descriptor systems are established.

It is shown that the convex linear combination of the Hurwitz polynomials of positive linear systems is also the Hurwitz polynomial. The Kharitonov theorem is extended to the positive interval linear systems. It is also shown that the interval positive linear system described by state equation x ̇ = Ax, A ϵ ℜn×n, A1 ≥ A ≤ A2 is asymptotically stable if and only if the matrices Ak = 1, 2 are Hurwitz Metzler matrices.

Opis:
Conditions for the existence of positive stable realizations with system Metzler matrices for proper transfer function are established. It is shown that there exists a proper stable realization of transfer function of second order if and only if the transfer function has real negative poles. Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive stable realizations of transfer function of third order are established. A method based on the decomposition of transfer functions into the first, second and third orders transfer functions for computation of positive stable realizations is proposed. A method for computation of positive stable realizations of transfer functions with real negative poles and zeros is given.

Opis:
Poles and zeros assignment problem by state feedbacks in positive continuous-time and discrete-time systems is analyzed. It is shown that in multi-input multi-output positive linear systems by state feedbacks the poles and zeros of the transfer matrices can be assigned in the desired positions. In the positive continuous-time linear systems the feedback gain matrix can be chosen as a monomial matrix so that the poles and zeros of the transfer matrices have the desired values if the input matrix B is monomial. In the positive discrete-time linear systems to solve the problem the matrix B can be chosen monomial if and only if in every row and every column of the n × n system matrix A the sum of n−1 its entries is less than one.
