Opis:
In his 1534 Latin poem on the illness of the Polish King Sigismundus I that was a consequence of his hunting expedition, Marcin Kromer introduces the myth of Cephalus and Procris. Borrowing the subject from Ovid (Met. VII 690-862), Kromer presents only the last part of the history of this unhappy couple and does not dwell on the husband's and wife's emotions as much as his predecessor. This passage seems important as we see here the first use of this myth by a Polish author.

Baudelaire’s Catholicism seems difficult to interpret, therefore some authors declare the poet a Satanist. In my opinion, this is rather problematic to call Charles Baudelaire a Satanist. It is very debatable and doubtful, but there are several reasons for this. In the collection of poetry entitled “Les Fleurs du mal” (“The Flowers of Evil”), Baudelaire gave a voice to the Devil many times. He wrote a scandalous poem “Litanies de Satan” (“The Litany of Satan”). In fact, Satan tempts us and leads us, after all he is closer to man that God! Was Baudelaire a Satanist? It is question to be answered.

In the last two decades bulgarian literary scholars make a lot of new researches focused on Botev’s poetry works. The main aim of the new analysis is the re-reading and re-interpretation of Botev’s poetic legacy. Referring to the findings of the bulgarian literary studies this article undertake the task to describe the paradigm of bulgarian revival poetry, considering Botev’s lyrical achievements as representative of this literary period. Botev is inspired from the wealth of folk traditions, he is proving his own mastery in transposition of folk designs into the new bulgarian poetry. Thematically much of the lines illustrates the pessimistic vision of the oppressed nation, which remain for several centuries under the influence of the turkish domination. The poetic imagination of tormented mother-country Bulgaria is precisely related to this concept. In this context, the poet considers as a duty to promote the patriotic idea, he becomes a teacher of his own generation, and uses poetic texts to express his social philosophy. A lirycal subject repeatedly identifies himself with the figure of a haiduk – brave fighter, rebel and revolutionary - explaining his own existence in the messianic terms. Botev’s poetry gives many original impulses in shaping the modern bulgarian poetry.

Hardly any other poet of the 19th century was more admired and more read as Heinrich Heine. The majority of his poems was written in four lined stanzas. Most of them are short songs, their stanzas number varies from 2 to 6. Heine has not created his verse forms from scratch. The most commonly used Germanic-German verse forms in his poetry are so called a half “Hildebrandsstrophe” as well as the “Vagantenpaar”. It is much to Heine’s credit for the development of poetry, that he varied the old existing German verse forms in a way, that they appeared popular. The means of his poetry are not new, but the combination of certain rhythm and content structures is what makes his style.

Poetry for children in translation. Comments on the Polish issue of Gianni Rodari’s poems – As I. Even-Zohar has observed, “in spite of the broad recognition among historians of culture of the major role translation has played in the crystallization of national cultures, relatively little research has been carried out so far in this area” (1990: 45). The verdict of the Israeli scholar still seems to hold true today with regard to the translation of children’s literature, especially poetry, even if that situation is slowly changing. Invariably, however, poetry is less frequently translated than prose, as shows the example of the greatest 20th-century Italian children writer, G. Rodari. The aim of this paper – preceded by an introductory theoretical treatise – is to discuss a unique collection of Rodari poems translated into Polish by J. Minkiewicz and published in 1956.
