    The article’s aim is to demonstrate how migration regimes tacitly operate at the level of everyday practices. We propose to see migrants’ leisure, recreational use of parks in particular, as a venue for the internalization and embodiment of migration regimes. We seek to explore if migrants negotiate and resist these regimes through their everyday practices. Our study is based on 70 interviews with Ukrainian and Vietnamese migrants in Poland, Moroccan migrants in the Netherlands, Turkish migrants in Germany, and Latino and Chinese migrants in the U.S. We present migrants’ perceptions of urban parks’ rules and their interactions with other park users. Particular attention is paid to migrants’ ability to negotiate the existing regulations and to adjust these environments to their needs. We discuss the mechanisms that limit migrants’ ability to negotiate the frameworks of migration regimes through their leisurely use of urban parks.

    The aim of the herein paper is to present the processes of managing science and technology parks by means of indicating their essence, types and domains of activities. Moreover, the attributes of these parks were emphasized in the context of the innovative processes. Pilot research was conducted which concentrated on the institutionalization and functionality of the science and technology parks which facilitated the formulation of conclusions relating to the cooperation between enterprises, science and technology parks and the sphere of science in terms of innovativeness.

    The goal of the studies undertaken in Polish national parks was to determine noise threats, examine the resources, assess the quality of soundscapes and identify the possibilities of their protection. The questionnaire method used in the studies made it possible to identify the awareness of noise threats and the value of soundscapes according to the park service staff. In addition, the semantic differential and description methods were used to learn how students assessed the soundscape quality of Polish national parks. Finally, avenues of further research on soundscape in environmentally valuable areas were indicated. The research findings indicate that each national park in Poland is characterised by diverse and unique soundscapes and is subject to the pressure of road traffic and tourism resulting in noise hazards. The conservation of the acoustic values of parks is necessary and possible.

    The research aimed to make an inventory of the vascular flora of 11 parks and gardens of the Pomeranian Cistercian Trail, with particular emphasis on taxa attached to old deciduous forests. A total of 62 species were registered, recognised as indicators of old deciduous forests in Poland. The presence of species of this group was confirmed in all of the analysed objects, but their number varied from 7 to 50. The group of ancient woodland species includes forest species for which the light indicator values are lower than or equal to 4 (plants of shadowy places, with a relative light intensity). The group of indicator species also includes forest geophytes and forest myrmecochores, autochores and barochores, as well as woodland species that can tolerate stress, under the classification of ecological strategy types S, S/CSR, S/SC and S/SR.

    Administracje miast dopiero zaczynają rozpoznawać ogromny potencjał, jaki drzemie w opuszczonych terenach pokolejowych. Bardzo często tereny te, położone w samym sercu miasta, są sprzedawane prywatnym inwestorom, którzy dążąc do maksymalnego zysku zapełniają je budynkami biurowymi, osiedlami mieszkaniowymi lub centrami handlowymi. Po upadku Muru Berlińskiego Senat Berlina odniósł duży sukces poprzez przekształcenie wielu byłych terenów kolejowych w miejsca publiczne, służące rekreacji i kulturze. Dużą rolę w procesie tych przemian odegrała partycypacja społeczna. Najnowszym przykładem planowania z udziałem mieszkańców jest Park am Gleisdreieck, który został otwarty w 2011 roku. Mieszkańcy okolicznych osiedli mogli składać własne propozycje, które były omawiane na regularnych spotkaniach i warsztatach z projektantami. Przez takie zabiegi świadomość mieszkańców oraz ich tożsamość z tym terenem została zwiększona. Artykuł zawiera opis procesu projektowania Parku am Gleisdreieck w Berlinie ukazując, które elementy cieszące się powodzeniem można zastosować w podobnych realizacjach.
    City administrations have yet to recognize the vast potential of abandoned post-railway areas. Very often these sites, located in the very heart of the city, are sold to private investors who, seeking to make maximum profits, develop them into office buildings, housing estates or shopping malls. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Senate of Berlin has been very successful in transforming many former railway lands and building complexes into public areas for recreation and culture. The success of these transformations has been largely due to the planning process being open to public participation. A formidable example of this approach is Park am Gleisdreieck, which was opened in 2011. The residents of surrounding neighbourhoods could submit their own suggestions, which were discussed in depth during regular architectural workshops. With this approach, the inhabitants' awareness and their connection with the area has been strengthened. This article describes the process of designing Park am Gleisdreieck in Berlin and discusses the lesson to be learned from it.

    Opis:
    The article presents the problem of the settlements development in the Ojców National Park (ONP) and its buffer zone, both located in the suburban area of Cracow (Poland). The aim of the research was to recognize the social perception of this phenomenon, as well as the residents opinion about the limitations in spatial management related to the functioning of the Park. Interviews were made among 204 residents, and 40 representatives of local self-governments, cultural institutions, associations, administrators of tourist facilities and entrepreneurs. The local community perceives constraints in the new buildings construction and in enlargement or modernization of the existing ones as the main problem for people living in the ONP or its buffer zone. Driven by their particular interests, residents advocate the further development of the settlements and tourist infrastructure within the Park and the buffer zone, the liberalization of regulations, and even the liquidation of the Park’s buffer zone. They do not understand that the natural and landscape values (highly appreciated by them) can be degraded due to these activities.
