Opis:: Theoretical considerations and research on “territoriality” of development processes cause that territory takes on a new meaning. Writing about the territory Nowakowska [2011] states that we should no longer take into account only ‘area’ extracted according to geographical and administrative criteria – but also the space that has been shaped historically, in which a specifi c institutional and organizational arrangement has been created. The essence of the concept of “territory” boils down to the combination of dimension associated with the space in the physical dimension with its cognitive and social dimensions. Considerations on the nature of “territory” bring to “conclusion” that the term is no longer associated only with “physical space” treated in the traditional theories of business location as cost of land, capital, labor and transportation costs. Territory begins to be seen as “a form of organization that reduces uncertainty and risk, which is a source of information, accumulation as well as a transfer of knowledge and skills and as a source of innovation. In this paper formulated thesis states that in the coming term (years 2014–2020) a well-organized space will be a source for innovation. There was presented a forecast of regions’ innovation potential for 2016 with the use of a non-model method. Based on the article it can be concluded that the diversity and creativity drive each other and thus allow to stimulate innovation and economic growth for which well-organized space is essential.

Opis:: This paper presents a model of the development of economic space inspired by evolutionary genetics and by the George Price’s equation in particular. This equation is a complete description for the evolutionary dynamics of the character for any system of selection, mutation, matching and inheritance. The author of this paper made a redefinition of the equation in terms of the theory of spatial economics. The aim of this operation is to derive framework for: 1) reconstruction of economic processes in spatial dimensions, and 2) distinction of small changes resulting from learning and selection, on one side, and the innovations (major changes) in spatial development process the order. The redefined model was then tested using statistical data for regional system of the Polish economy. The author acknowledges that the results obtained, although promising, are not fully satisfactory as yet, and encourages researches to engage in this subject. One can expect that this approach may be helpful in solving difficult problem of integration of the spatial, socio-economic and environmental modelling and policy.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest wskazanie omawianych w literaturze przedmiotu współzależności między rozwojem gospodarczym a rozwojem infrastruktury i innowacyjnością. Dalej – wykazanie, że na rozwój gospodarczy wpływa oprócz innowacyjności także wyposażenie w infrastrukturę transportu. Weryfikacji poddane zostaną hipotezy: 1) w gospodarkach rozwiniętych innowacyjność i wyposażenie w infrastrukturę transportu są ze sobą silnie skorelowane; 2) zarówno innowacyjność, jak i infrastruktura drogowa pozytywnie wpływają na rozwój gospodarczy. Hipotezy sformułowano na drodze poszukiwania odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy aby dyskontować profity płynące z innowacji należy najpierw zaspokoić potrzeby infrastruktury transportu.
The aim of the article is to point discussed in the literature, the relationship between economic development and infrastructure development and innovation. Next – to demonstrate that economic development affects innovation in addition to the provision of infrastructure in transport. Will be subject to verification the hypotheses: 1) innovation in developed economies and equipment in transport infrastructure are highly correlated; 2) both innovation and road infrastructure have a positive impact on economic development. The hypotheses formulated in the search for answers to the question of whether to discount the profits flowing from innovation must first meet the needs of transport infrastructure.

Opis:: A structural equation model was used to verify both the direct and indirect influences on research and development and innovation capabilities that affect Thai automotive parts enterprises competitive advantage. Thailand’s automotive sector is a major driver of the economy with a multi-thousand network of both domestic and international companies contributing a significant amount to both domestic and Asian economic growth. After peaking in 2013 and reaching the Top 10 automotive nations, there has been a slide backwards. Competition is fierce and the pace of change ever quickening. Therefore, the researchers sought to determine how the automotive parts sector needed to improve in capability, skills and infrastructure to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. From the structural equation model analysis of 220 regional automotive parts sector managers and use of AMOS software, it was determined that research and development combined with innovation plays key roles in the industry’s profitability and survivability. Additionally, there must be support across a wide sector of the economy, including universities, government agencies and institutions. Once championed as the ‘Detroit of Asia’, Thailand’s recognized success as a global automotive hub is a classic case of a well-executed industrial plan but that lead can potentially slip away without embracing new technologies and innovative thinking.
