Opis:
The Malacca River basin experienced river water pollution which caused a major deterioration to the ecosystems and environmental health. This study is carried out to assess the water quality data and identify the pattern of water pollution sources in the study area, and also to develop a predictive performance of water quality in the Malacca River basin. A chemometric approach using a combination of HCA, DA, PCA, and MLR, was applied into twenty water quality variables from nine sampling stations that were collected from January until December of 2015 in the river basin. HCA pointed out three clusters, namely Cluster 1 (C1) with low pollution source, Cluster 2 (C2) with moderate pollution source, and Cluster 3 (C3) with high pollution source. In the DA analysis, the results showed 21 variables, 12 variables, and 9 variables for standard mode, forward stepwise mode, and backward stepwise mode, respectively. Meanwhile, the PCA indicated that the main source of pollutants is detected from residential, industrial, commercial, agricultural, animal livestock, as well as forest land. Among the three models developed from MLR analysis, C3 with a high pollution source is detected to be the most suitable model to be used for the prediction of Water Quality Index in the Malacca River basin. This study proposed for an effective river water quality management by having new water quality monitoring network to be designed for more practical use in order to reduce time and effort, as well as cost saving purposes.

Opis:
A large portion of the credits and financial resources of countries is spent on the preparation and construction of building projects because their implementation would create housing, job opportunities, financial turnover, and economic prosperity. At present, many construction projects are under construction in developing countries, and most of these projects are facing rising costs. The local scope of this research is construction projects in Yazd city. This research is operational in terms of purpose and was carried out in a descriptive and survey manner with an analytical-mathematical method. Data collection was done by documentary and survey methods. The Statistical Society consisted of 150 managers and officials, contractors, and actors involved in construction projects. Data analysis by hierarchical analysis technique showed that the criterion of management factors with a weight of 0.582 has the highest priority in increasing building costs. The criterion of environmental factors with a weight of 0.309 is at the second priority. The criterion of legal and administrative factors with a weight of 0.109 is in the third priority. Therefore, a key element in increasing the cost of construction projects in the under-studied city is the management factor that can be reduced by establishing new management systems and improving the quality of construction projects.

Opis:
This article presents the use of a multi-criterion Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to assess geological and mining condition nuisance in longwall mining operations in selected coal mines in Poland. For this purpose, a methodology has been developed which was used to calculate the operational nuisance indicator (WUe) in relation to the cost of mining coal in individual longwalls. Components of the aggregate operational nuisance indicator include four sub-indicators: the natural hazards indicator (UZN), an indicator describing the seam parameters (UPZ), an indicator describing the technical parameters (UT) and an environmental impact indicator (UŚ). In total, the impact of 28 different criteria, which formed particular components of the nuisance indicators were analysed. In total 471 longwalls in 11 coal mines were analysed, including 277 longwalls that were mined in the period of 2011 to 2016 and 194 longwalls scheduled for exploitation in the years 2017 to 2021. Correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between nuisance and the operating costs of longwalls. The analysis revealed a strong correlation between the level of nuisance and the operating costs of the longwalls under study. The design of the longwall schedule should therefore also take into account the nuisance arising from the geological and mining conditions of the operations. Selective operations management allows for the optimization of costs for mining in underground mines using the longwall system. This knowledge can also be used to reduce the total operating costs of mines as a result of abandoning the mining operations in entire longwalls or portions of longwalls that may be permanently unprofitable. Currently, underground mines do not employ this optimization method, which even more emphasizes the need for popularizing this approach.
Artykuł przedstawia zastosowanie wielokryterialnej metody AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) do oceny poziomu uciążliwości warunków geologicznych i górniczych procesu prowadzenia eksploatacji w ścianach wydobywczych wybranych kopalń węgla kamiennego w Polsce.

Opis:
The paper aims at recognizing the possibilities and perspectives of application of qualitativequantitative research methodology in the field of economics, with a special focus on production engineering management processes. The main goal of the research is to define the methods that would extend the research apparatus of economists and managers by tools that allow the inclusion of qualitative determinants into quantitative analysis. Such approach is justified by qualitative character of many determinants of economic occurrences. At the same time quantitative approach seems to be predominant in production engineering management, although methods of transposition of qualitative decision criteria can be found in literature. Nevertheless, international economics and management could profit from a mixed methodology, incorporating both types of determinants into joint decision-making models. The research methodology consists of literature review and own analysis of applicability of mixed qualitative-quantitative methods for managerial decision-making. The expected outcome of the research is to find which methods should be applied to include qualitativequantitative analysis into multicriteria decision-making models in the fields of economics, with a special regard to production engineering management.

Opis:
In economics we often face a system which intrinsically imposes a structure of hierarchy of its components, i.e., in modeling trade accounts related to foreign exchange or in optimization of regional air protection policy. A problem of reconciliation of forecasts obtained on different levels of hierarchy has been addressed in the statistical and econometric literature many times and concerns bringing together forecasts obtained independently at different levels of hierarchy. This paper deals with this issue with regard to a hierarchical functional time series. We present and critically discuss a state of art and indicate opportunities of an application of these methods to a certain environment protection problem. We critically compare the best predictor known from the literature with our own original proposal. Within the paper we study a macromodel describing the day and night air pollution in Silesia region divided into five subregions.

Opis:
Nowadays, Twitter is one of the most popular microblogging sites that is generating a massive amount of textual data. Such textual data is intended to incorporate human feelings and opinions with related events like tweets, posts, and status updates. It then becomes difficult to identify and classify the emotions from the tweets due to their restricted word length and data diversity. In contrast, emotion analysis identifies and classifies different emotions based on the text data generated from social media platforms. The underlying work anticipates an efficient category and prediction technique for analyzing different emotions from textual data collected from Twitter. The proposed research work deliberates an enhanced deep neural network (EDNN) based hierarchical Bi-LSTM model for emotion analysis from textual data; that classifies the six emotions mainly sadness, love, joy, surprise, fear, and anger. Furthermore, the emotion analysis result obtained by the proposed hierarchical Bi-LSTM model is being compared and validated with the traditional hybrid CNN-LSTM approach regarding the accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-Score. It can be observed from the results that the proposed hierarchical Bi-LSTM achieves an average accuracy of 89% for emotion analysis, whereas the existing CNN-LSTM model achieved an overall accuracy of 75%. This result shows that the proposed hierarchical Bi-LSTM approach achieves desired performance compared to the CNN-LSTM model.
