Opis:
This paper presents the concept of topologies and investigation results of switched-capacitor voltage multipliers designed for application in high power systems. The analyzed family of multilevel converters includes established topologies as well as novel concepts. The application of thyristors as well as the invention of novel concepts of multiplier topologies and appropriate control make it possible to achieve high efficiency, high voltage gain, reliable and simple DC-DC converters for high power systems. Based on analytical models of the SCVMs, the paper presents a discussion of the selection of components and the efficiency of the converters as a function of converted power as well as the voltage range on the input and the output side. The results are supported by computer simulations and demonstrative experimental tests.

Opis:
Recent environmental issues have accelerated the use of more efficient and energy saving technologies in renewable energy systems. High power high efficiency boost DC/DC converters for the use in photovoltaic, fuel cell systems are discussed in this paper from the viewpoint of power losses and efficiency. State of the art converters with switching frequency within the range of 25 kHz with IGBTs to 100 kHz with power MOSFETs and the highest efficiency close to 98%, depending on the load conditions, is considered. A comparison and discussion of the highest efficiency high power DC/DC boost converters is also presented in this paper.

Opis:
The purpose of the article is a comparison between DC/DC topologies with a wide input voltage range. The research also explains how the implementation of GaN E-HEMT transistors influences the overall efficiency of the converter. The article presents a process of selection of the most efficient topology for stabilization of the battery storage voltage (9 V – 36 V) at the level of 24 V, which enables the usage of ultracapacitor energy storage in a wide range of applications, e.g., in automated electric vehicles. In order to choose the most suitable topology, simulation and laboratory research were conducted. The two most promising topologies were selected for verification in the experimental model. Each of the converters was constructed in two versions: with Si and with GaN E-HEMT transistors. The paper presents experimental research results that consist of precise power loss measurements and thermal analysis. The performance with an increased switching frequency of converters was also examined.
