Opis:: The article presents Kenneth Burke's concept of literary form. According to Burke, literary form arouses and fulfills reader's desires. Burke presents several types or aspects of form, such as syllogistic progression, qualitative progression, repetitive form, conventional form and minor form. On the one hand, this repertoire of apparently heterogenic literary forms is compatible with traditional literary terms, but on the other hand, the notion of literary form can be applied, in Kantian manner, to human experience and sensual perception in general. Therefore, the question about the specificity of literature and the relation of form and content emerges. One of the suggested answers is that the function of literature is to propose symbols, which are patterns of human experience and play a compensatory role.

Opis:: Combining surface measurement data from individual measurements of surface fragments is an issue that has been recognized for flat surfaces. The connection takes place on the principle of making ‘overlap’ measurements according to a specific measurement strategy, and then the algorithm synthesizes the measurement data for the common part (data fusion). This paper presents a method of combining partial data into one larger set using image processing methods. The purpose of the analysis is to combine surface data of a more complex shape in terms of surface roughness and waviness. A successful attempt was made to combine surface measurement data located on a cylindrical surface - convex surface. A rotated table was designed and used for surface data acquisition. The datasets were acquired with the use of CCI 6000 (366μm - 366μm) with the assumed overlapping of at least 20%. The measurement datasets were first pre-processed: filling in non-measured points, levelling and form removing were applied. For such processed datasets, the common part was identified (data registration) and then the data fusion was performed. An example of stitching the surface datasets shows usefulness of the presented methodology.

Opis:: The paper analyzes various possible linguistic norms that could govern the feminine forms, which slowly appear in the Polish language, and which correspond to the masculine names of professions. Adopting a basically feminist standpoint leads one to reject those proposals, which would legislate that the masculine forms ought to be applied to men while the feminine forms ought to be applied to women. The article considers in particular the inferential roles of concepts to argue for a gender-neutral rendition of the historically masculine forms.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań procesu nagrzewania elementów form piaskowych wykonanych z masy z żywicą furanową wywoływane promieniowanie cieplnym ciekłego żeliwa. Próbki masy umieszczano w bliskiej odległości (10-15 mm) od powierzchni górnej żeliwa znajdującego się w tyglu. Zastosowano autorską metodę badań. Wyznaczono przebiegi nagrzewania powierzchniowej warstwy próbek w funkcji czasu nagrzewania. Badaniami objęto powierzchnie próbek bez powłok i z powłokami ochronnymi. Wyznaczono wpływ czasu oddziaływania promieniowania na wytrzymałość na zginanie próbek po ich wystudzeniu do temperatury otoczenia. Stwierdzono, iż przy temperaturze żeliwa 1400 ^oC i przybliżeniu powierzchni próbki na odległość 10÷15 mm już po około 15 sekundach wytrzymałość masy zmniejsza się o blisko 70%. Nanoszenie powłok ochronnych zwiększa wytrzymałość powierzchniowej warstwy niekiedy kilkakrotnie. Nie pozwala jednak zachować wytrzymałości masy po poddaniu jej działaniu promieniowania cieplnego ciekłego żeliwa.
The work presents the results of tests of the heating process of sand-mould elements made of sands wit furan resin caused by heat radiation of liquid cast iron. Samples of the moulding sands were placed in near proximity (10-15 mm) of the top surface of cast iron located in a crucible. An original research method of the author was used. Trajectories of heating of the surface layer of samples in the time function were determined. The testing covered surfaces of layers both with and without coatings. The impact of the time of influence of the radiation on the samples' bending strength after cooldown to environment temperature was determined. It was found that for cast iron of the temperature 1400 ^oC and with samples moved closer to 10÷15 mm bending strength of the mass decreases by almost 70% after as little as 15 seconds. Laying down protective coatings increases resistance of the surface layer, sometimes even multiplying it. However it does not enable saving the mass' resistance after it is subjected to heat radiation of liquid cast iron.

Opis:: The method of determining the accuracy of polymer molds in plaster forms has been discussed. Distortion of the surface of molds and plaster molds has been assessed. It has been found that the presence of monolithic and porous structure in the samples does not change the accuracy of the surfaces when forms are prepared for removing the material of the model. It has been found that in case of full-mold casting it is more expedient to form the mold cavity with cellular adjustable structures of molding prototypes.

Opis:: Obtaining discrete data is inseparably connected with losing information on surface properties. In contact measurements, the ball tip functions as a mechanical-geometrical filter. In coordinate measurements the coordinates of the measurement points of a discrete distribution on the measured surface are obtained. Surface geometric deviations are represented by a set of local deviations, i.e. deviations of measurement points from the nominal surface (the CAD model), determined in a direction normal to this surface. The results of measurements depend both on the ball tip diameter and the grid size of measurement points. This article presents findings on the influence of the ball tip diameter and the grid size on coordinate measurement results along with the experimental results of measurement of a free-form milled surface, in order to determine its local geometric deviations. One section of the surface under research was measured using different measurement parameters. The whole surface was also scanned with different parameters, observing the rule of selecting the tip diameter d and the sampling interval T in the ratio of 2:1.

Opis:: The article reviews the results of experimental tests assessing the impact of process parameters of additive manufacturing technologies on the geometric structure of free-form surfaces. The tests covered surfaces manufactured with the Selective Laser Melting additive technology, using titanium-powder-based material (Ti6Al4V) and Selective Laser Sintering from polyamide PA2200. The evaluation of the resulting surfaces was conducted employing modern multiscale analysis, i.e., wavelet transformation. Comparative studies using selected forms of the mother wavelet enabled determining the character of irregularities, size of morphological features and the indications of manufacturing process errors. The tests provide guidelines and allow to better understand the potential in manufacturing elements with complex, irregular shapes.

Opis:: Paper presents researches of fibre-matrix composite materials machining on the turbine blade example. The main aim of investigations was the free form milling process and its optimization considering the machined surface quality. TCF-5 and TJF composite types were chosen. Different strategy and cutting parameters were applied. The profile of the workpiece was obtained as a result of scanning process of the real surface, using a spatial actual scanner CYCLONE 2 manufactured by Renishaw company.
W artykule przedstawiono analizę wyników badań obróbki włóknistych materiałów kompozytowych TCF5 i TJF na przykładzie łopatki turbiny. Prowadzono proces frezowania powierzchni swobodnej. Wykonano jego optymalizację, przyjmując kryterium jakości powierzchni obrobionej TCF-5 i TJF. Zastosowano różne strategie i wartości parametrów skrawania. Profil elementu obrabianego uzyskano przez skanowanie rzeczywistej powierzchni przy użyciu skanera CYCLONE 2 firmy Renishaw.

Opis:: Geometric deviations of free-form surfaces are attributed to many phenomena that occur during machining, both systematic (deterministic) and random in character. Measurements of free-form surfaces are performed with the use of numerically controlled CMMs on the basis of a CAD model, which results in obtaining coordinates of discrete measurement points. The spatial coordinates assigned at each measurement point include both a deterministic component and a random component at different proportions. The deterministic component of deviations is in fact the systematic component of processing errors, which is repetitive in nature. A CAD representation of deterministic geometric deviations might constitute the basis for completing a number of tasks connected with measurement and processing of free-form surfaces. The paper presents the results of testing a methodology of determining CAD models by estimating deterministic geometric deviations. The research was performed on simulated deviations superimposed on the CAD model of a nominal surface. Regression analysis, an iterative procedure, spatial statistics methods, and NURBS modelling were used for establishing the model.

Opis:: Ceramic casting moulds strength is an important factor, which influences the quality and properties of castings being produced by the investment casting method. It is especially important during mould pouring with liquid metal. Studies allowing determining the casting mould strength at high temperatures, that means at the ones at which the moulds are poured, are not numerous. None generally accepted (normalized) method for the assessment of such strength exists in practice. The new method of the ceramic moulds tensile strength investigation at high temperatures is described in the paper. Tests were performed at temperatures from 100 to 1100ºC. The ceramic moulding sand was prepared of modern materials: colloidal silica – being a binder – and highly refractory ceramic materials.

Opis:: The urban form creates the city structure, whose spatial values not only shape the functionality of the city, but also its identity, whose the most important determinant is the urban tissue. The subject of the study is the analysis of selected historical areas of Cracow in the scope of composition and readability of their urban structure. The analysis focuses on the identification of the most important aspects of spatial renewal processes of these spaces. These processes aimed at strengthening their potential as local centres, that can become a factor stimulating the development of the individual urban units. The increase in the attractiveness and quality of public spaces will positively affect the degree of their perception by the inhabitants and the social relations taking place in them. This in turn, influences the degree of the social involvement in development processes and the creation of more or less spontaneous, bottom-up activities.

Opis:: The paper presents the problem of assessing the accuracy of reconstructing free-form surfaces in the CMM/CAD/CAM/CNC systems. The system structure comprises a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) PMM 12106 equipped with a contact scanning probe, a 3-axis Arrow 500 Vertical Machining Center, QUINDOS software and Catia software. For the purpose of surface digitalization, a radius correction algorithm was developed. The surface reconstructing errors for the presented system were assessed and analysed with respect to offset points. The accuracy assessment exhibit error values in the reconstruction of a free-form surface in a range of ± 0.02 mm, which, as it is shown by the analysis, result from a systematic error.
