Opis:
In the paper, the analytical forms of fractional order derivatives of sinusoidal function according to definitions of Riemann - Liouville and Caputo are presented. To determine the analytical form of the integrals appearing in definitions of derivatives of fractional order the Lommel functions from hypergeometrical functions family were applied. With the use of properties of the derivatives of fractional order - differential-integral there were presented the conception of generalized element of a single equation, which depending on the value of the derivative order, can be inductor, resistor, capacitor, or a hypothetical element of a fractional order differential equation.

Opis:
The paper presents a simple, systematic and novel graphical method which uses computer graphics for prediction of limit cycles in two dimensional multivariable nonlinear system having rectangular hysteresis and backlash type nonlinearities. It also explores the avoidance of such self-sustained oscillations by determining the stability boundary of the system. The stability boundary is obtained using simple Routh Hurwitz criterion and the incremental input describing function, developed from harmonic balance concept. This may be useful in interconnected power system which utilizes governor control. If the avoidance of limit cycle or a safer operating zone is not possible, the quenching of such oscillations may be done by using the signal stabilization technique which is also described. The synchronization boundary is laid down in the forcing signal amplitudes plane using digital simulation. Results of digital simulations illustrate accuracy of the method for 2×2 systems.

Opis:
In this article, an engineering/physical dynamic system including losses is analyzed inrelation to the stability from an engineer’s/physicist’s point of view. Firstly, conditions for a Hamiltonian to be an energy function, time independent or not, is explained herein. To analyze stability of engineering system, Lyapunov-like energy function, called residual energy function is used. The residual function may contain, apart from external energies, negative losses as well. This function includes the sum of potential and kinetic energies, which are special forms and ready-made (weak) Lyapunov functions, and loss of energies (positive and/or negative) of a system described in different forms using tensorial variables. As the Lypunov function, residual energy function is defined as Hamiltonian energy function plus loss of energies and then associated weak and strong stability are proved through the first time-derivative of residual energy function. It is demonstrated how the stability analysis can be performed using the residual energy functions in different formulations and in generalized motion space when available. This novel approach is applied to RLC circuit, AC equivalent circuit of Gunn diode oscillator for autonomous, and a coupled (electromechanical) example for nonautonomous case. In the nonautonomous case, the stability criteria can not be proven for one type of formulation, however, it can be proven in the other type formulation.

Opis:
This paper presents control method for multiple two-wheeled mobile robots moving in formation. Trajectory tracking algorithm from [7] is extended by collision avoidance, and is applied to the different type of formation task: each robot in the formation mimics motion of the virtual leader with a certain displacement. Each robot avoids collisions with other robots and circular shaped, static obstacles existing in the environment. Artificial potential functions are used to generate repulsive component of the control. Stability analysis of the closed-loop system is based on Lyapunov-like function. Effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by simulation results.

Opis:
The main goal of this paper is to analyze the matching function in the Polish labour market in 1994-2008. Matching function is the relationship between outflows from unemployment to employment and the number of unemployed persons and vacancies as well as other variables which affect the efficiency of the matching process directly or indirectly. Such matching function in its augmented form is estimated here for Poland with the use of data from register of unemployed persons. The results indicate that there is a statistically stronger impact of the unemployed than vacancies on new hires. Furthermore, the institutional conditions of the labour market, the structure of the unemployed and the participants of active labour market programs (ALMP) play a role in the matching process.

Opis:
In this article, the author reconstructs the particular sense attributed in the Spencer’s functionalism to notions such as function, need, subject of a function and objective consequences. He shows a fundamental difference between this concept and twentieth-century functional theories in sociology. Although they all use the same terms, they give them a remarkably different meaning. Change made by Durkheim in the meaning of the term „function” is of fundamental importance: for Spencer the word “function” meant a specific activity (action, work), but it came to mean the result of an influence. The author challenges the way in which the founding role in the twentieth-century’s functional paradigm is attributed to Spencer. At the same time, he points to theoretical import of the original concept of Spencer in relation to the functional approach as modified by Durkheim.

The current research work presents an investigation into use of the fitting coefficients resulting from the cubic curve fitting of the torque transducer calibration results in one direction to calculate the actual torque in the other torque direction with two methods: one is direct substitution with the nominal torque which gives a propagated linear relative interpolation error and the other is changing the sign of the second coefficient in the cubic function when using in the other torque direction. This proposed modification improves the absolute relative interpolation error by 5 to 16 times in the clockwise and counterclockwise directions based on the torque transducer’s classification.

In this paper, a class of linear Boolean functions is analyzed. The Boolean function can be represented as disjoint cubes or in the form of a truth vector. The primary purpose of this analysis is to decide whether an incompletely defined function can be extended to a complete linear form. A simple algorithm for generating all states of this function has been proposed if the Boolean function can have a full representation. The algorithm is beneficial for large functions. The proposed approach can be applied to completely and incompletely defined Boolean functions.

As it is found in the related published literatures, the transfer function (TF) evaluation method is the most feasible method for detection of winding mechanical faults in transformers. Therefore, investigation of an accurate method for evaluation of the TFs is very important. This paper presents three new indices to compare the transformer TFs and consequently to detect the winding mechanical faults. These indices are based on estimated rational functions. To develop the method, the necessary measurements are carried out on a 1.3 MVA transformer winding, under intact condition, as well as different fault conditions (axial displacement of winding). The obtained results demonstrate the high potential of proposed method in comparison with two other well-known indices. Additionally, two important methods for describing TFs by rational functions are studied and compared in this paper.

The simple digital filters are not sufficient for digital modeling of systems with distributed parameters. It is necessary to apply more complex digital filters. In this work, a set of filters, called the digital function filters, is proposed. It consists of digital filters, which are obtained from causal and stable filters through some function transformation. In this paper, for several basic functions: exponential, logarithm, square root and the real power of input filter, the recursive algorithms of the digital function filters have been determined The digital function filters of exponential type can be obtained from direct recursive formulas. Whereas, the other function filters, such as the logarithm, the square root and the real power, require using the implicit recursive formulas. Some applications of the digital function filters for the analysis and synthesis of systems with lumped and distributed parameters (a long line, phase shifters, infinite ladder circuits) are given as well.

In this article we focus on the balanced truncation linear quadratic regulator (LQR) with constrained states and inputs. For closed-loop, we want to use the LQR to find an optimal control that minimizes the objective function which called "the quadratic cost function” with respect to the constraints on the states and the control input. In order to do that we have used formal asymptotes for the Pontryagin maximum principle (PMP) and we introduce an approach using the so called The Hamiltonian Function and the underlying algebraic Riccati equation. The theoretical results are validated numerically to show that the model order reduction based on open-loop balancing can also give good closed-loop performance.
