    Opis:
    The derivation through exchange of prefixes (DEP) has been acknowledged as an autonomic derivation technique in Polish only in 2003, and first described in 2010. In French linguistics, it is unknown. However, an analysis of semantic and word formation structure confirms its existence. The contrastive research on this derivation technique, extended to the recent (2006-2015) derivatives, will eventually result in its more precise description and a classification of its products. Recognizing the DEP will lead to a rearrangement of the whole word formation system, among other things, because many derivatives thus formed were treated as simply prefixed ones. The comparison of how the DEP functions in non- related languages will bring us closer to an answer to the question: Can the semantic regularities of the DEP and its rules be universal for the indo-European languages?

    Propagating scattered context grammars are used to generate sentences of languages defined by scatterd context grammars followed by the strings corresponding to the derivation trees. It is proved that for every language defined by a scattered context grammar, there exists a propagating scattered context grammar whose language consists of original language sentences followed by strings representing their derivation trees.

    The article is an empirical, corpus-based study of conversion sampled in the language of Shakespeare’s plays. It surveys quantitative tendencies of conversion patterns occurring in the corpus, discusses the productivity of referential types, and looks into the qualitative aspects of N→V data. The latter issue is then placed against the context of general discussion on conversion that has been being held in the present scholarship.

    The author, following the concept of E. Benveniste, considers complex words as a product not only of word-formation derivation, but also of syntactic trans-formation (condensation) of phrases. The object of the transformation is phrases as composite syntactic and semantic constructions, but the derivation itself, i.e. the formation of complex words is carried out in the language according to the same rules as the derivation of simple (not complex) words, and with the same formal techniques as word formation in general, i.e. by affixation and transformation of components of complex words (truncation, interfixation, accent shifts, etc.). At the same time, the syntactic and semantic relations between components that are characteristic of generating phrases retain their meaning in the structure of derived complex words, no matter what models of derivation (semantic and word-forming) they may relate to. Complex words of the same type in their word-formation structure can have completely different semantics, depending on the syntactic and semantic relations that link the components of the original phrases. The article offers a typology of complex words in the Russian language in terms of their "internal" syntactic and semantic structure. In composites derived from predicative phrases, there are subject, object, locative, temporal, and other semantic models of relations between a predicate and a dependent word. Composites with a supporting noun can be derived both from phrases with a com-positional connection, and from phrases with a subordinate connection (with relations of functional, comparative, and attributive dependence in a broad sense). Similarly, composites with a reference adjective, numeral, and counting words are analyzed. The article contains a criticism of some provisions of the academic "Russian grammar" (1980).

Working on her theme she discovers an interesting old Slavic isogloss: while in West-Slavic languages the names for concepts ‘life/live’ and ‘animal’ have different etymology, in South- and East-Slavic, with the exception of the Ukrainian language – they have common origin.

    This paper discusses recently introduced kind of linguistically motivated restriction placed on tree-controlled grammars-context-free grammars with some root-to-leaf paths in their derivation trees restricted by a control language. We deal with restrictions placed on n greater-than or equal to 1 paths controlled by a deterministic context-free language, and we recall several basic properties of such a rewriting system. Then, we study the possibilities of corresponding parsing methods working in polynomial time and demonstrate that some non-context-free languages can be generated by this regulated rewriting model. Furthermore, we illustrate the syntax analysis of LL grammars with controlled paths. Finally, we briefly discuss how to base parsing methods on bottom-up syntax-analysis.

    How is formed the adjective fettleibig (obese)? It may seem an evident derivate from fett (fat) and Leib (body); however, the NP fetter Leib is as seldom as the adjective is frequent: this sounds paradoxical. In this contribution, a new way of explaining the formation of this adjective is explored: fettleibig appears as a subsistance of a in past times rich -leibig-paradigm. Therefore, in a synchronic view, this adjective is not explained as a derivate, although it remains mainly transparent.
    Jak powstaje przymiotnik fettleibig (otyły)? Może się on wydawać oczywistym derywatem od fett (gruby) i Leib (ciało), jednak NP fetter Leib jest równie rzadki jak częsty jest przymiotnik: brzmi to paradoksalnie. W tym artykule badany jest nowy sposób wyjaśniania powstawania tego przymiotnika: fettleibig jawi się jako istnienie częstego w dawnych czasach paradygmatu -leibig-. Dlatego też, w ujęciu synchronicznym, przymiotnik ten nie jest tłumaczony jako derywat, choć pozostaje głównie transparentny.
