Opis:
Fatigue behavior of the branch connection made of low-alloyed steel with yield stress of 355 MPa during low-cycle bending test is investigated in the article. Numerical prediction of the stress and strain distribution are described and experimentally verified by fatigue test of the branch connection sample. Experimental verification is based on low-cycle bending testing of the steel pipes welded by manual metal arc process and loaded by external force in the appropriate distance. Stresses and displacement of the samples induced by bending moment were measured by unidirectional strain gauges and displacement transducers. Samples were loaded in different testing levels according to required stress for 2.106 cycles. Increase of the stress value was applied until the crack formation and growth was observed. Results showed a high agreement of numerical and experimental results of stress and displacement.

Opis:
The rapid global economic development of the world economy depends on the availability of substantial energy and resources, which is why in recent years a large share of non-renewable energy resources has attracted interest in energy control. In addition, inappropriate use of energy resources raises the serious problem of inadequate emissions of greenhouse effect gases, with major impact on the environment and climate. On the other hand, it is important to ensure efficient energy consumption in order to stimulate economic development and preserve the environment. As scheduling conflicts in the different workshops are closely associated with energy consumption. However, we find in the literature only a brief work strictly focused on two directions of research: the scheduling with PM and the scheduling with energy. Moreover, our objective is to combine both aspects and directions of in-depth research in a single machine. In this context, this article addresses the problem of integrated scheduling of production, preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) jobs in a single machine. The objective of this article is to minimize total energy consumption under the constraints of system robustness and stability. A common model for the integration of preventive maintenance (PM) in production scheduling is proposed, where the sequence of production tasks, as well as the preventive maintenance (PM) periods and the expected times for completion of the tasks are established simultaneously; this makes the theory put into practice more efficient. On the basis of the exact Branch and Bound method integrated on the CPLEX solver and the genetic algorithm (GA) solved in the Python software, the performance of the proposed integer binary mixed programming model is tested and evaluated. Indeed, after numerically experimenting with various parameters of the problem, the B&B algorithm works relatively satisfactorily and provides accurate results compared to the GA algorithm. A comparative study of the results proved that the model developed was sufficiently efficient.

Opis:
An approach to power system state estimation using a particle filter has been proposed in the paper. Two problems have been taken into account during research, namely bad measurements data and a network structure modification with rapid changes of the state variables. For each case the modification of the algorithm has been proposed. It has also been observed that anti-zero bias modification has a very positive influence on the obtained results (few orders of magnitude, in comparison to the standard particle filter), and additional calculations are quite symbolic. In the second problem, used modification also improved estimation quality of the state variables. The obtained results have been compared to the extended Kalman filter method.

Opis:
The use of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) to control insect pests has already been established in various agronomic and forest crops. It is a bacterium that does not pollute the environment, is safe for mammals and vertebrates, lacks toxicity to plants and specifically targets insects. To date in-depth studies have not been conducted about the use of Bt to control the main pest of mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King) and other Meliaceae species, the Hypsipyla grandella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). Therefore, this study aimed to test the pathogenicity of Bt strains on H. grandella caterpillars, as well to determine the lethal concentration required to kill 50% of the population (LC50) of the most promising strains. Ten strains of Bt toxic to lepidopteran proven in previous trials were used and these were incorporated into a natural diet with mahogany seeds to check their mortality. The LC50 of the top five strains was determined. The results indicate that H. grandella is highly susceptible to Bt toxins and the S1905 strain is highly toxic. Therefore, the use of Bt strains may be a tool to be incorporated into the integrated management of this important pest.
