Opis:
The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between Big-Five personality traits, perceived self-efficacy (GSES) and dimensions of occupational burnout in accordance with Christina Maslach’s three-factor burnout model (emotional burnout, depersonalization, perceived lack of own accomplishments). Data collected among 271 teachers (82% female) aged 20–68 confirmed findings from previous research that four personality traits (Neuroticism, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness) are correlated with burnout and that they are significant predictors for all dimensions of burnout. In addition, it was shown that GSES plays a moderating role as a buffer that protects people with high levels of neuroticism from a sense of lack of own accomplishments. It was also found that GSES plays a mediating role for the relationship between Extraversion, Conscientiousness and Neuroticism and perceived lack of own accomplishments and that it is a suppressor for the relationship of neuroticism with emotional exhaustion. The results are discussed in the context of personality theories and their possible applications.

This research analyzes factors affecting the scientific success of central bankers. We combine data from the RePEc and EDIRC databases, which contain information about economic publications of authors from 182 central banks. We construct a dataset containing information about 3312 authors and almost 80,000 scientific papers published between 1965 and 2020. The results from Poisson regressions of citation impact measure (called the h-index) on a number of research features suggest that economists from the U.S. Federal Reserve Banks, international financial institutions, and some eurozone central banks are cited more frequently than economists with similar characteristics from central banks located in emerging markets. Researchers from some big emerging economies like Russia or Indonesia are cited particularly infrequently by the scientific community. Beyond these outcomes, we identify a significant positive relationship between research networking and publication success. Moreover, economists cooperating with highly cited scientists also obtain a high number of citations even after controlling for the size of their research networks

The author claims that due to the effectiveness and multiplicity of potential uses for databases (for instance, for “big data,” artificial intelligence) the business world is taking an almost incredible interest in their implementation. One proof is the momentum of the eighth edition of the Big Data & AI Congress. This text reports on that Warsaw conference. The author first presents the emotions that were obvious during the course of the event-the enthusiasm and expectations of business in regard to this kind of technology-and then points out and characterizes, with the eye of a sociologist, the areas of the subject left unaddressed. These are the manifold social consequences of the use and development of big data or so-called artificial intelligence, that is, the growth of income inequality at the same time as the outwardly positive growth in general incomes, the preservation of mechanisms of exclusion and discrimination, and the treatment of large groups of users as objects through applications based on data analysis.

With the rapid development of remote sensing technology, our ability to obtain remote sensing data has been improved to an unprecedented level. We have entered an era of big data. Remote sensing data clear showing the characteristics of Big Data such as hyper spectral, high spatial resolution, and high time resolution, thus, resulting in a significant increase in the volume, variety, velocity and veracity of data. This paper proposes a feature supporting, salable, and efficient data cube for time-series analysis application, and used the spatial feature data and remote sensing data for comparative study of the water cover and vegetation change. In this system, the feature data cube building and distributed executor engine are critical in supporting large spatiotemporal RS data analysis with spatial features. The feature translation ensures that the geographic object can be combined with satellite data to build a feature data cube for analysis. Constructing a distributed executed engine based on dask ensures the efficient analysis of large-scale RS data. This work could provide a convenient and efficient multidimensional data services for many remote sensing applications.

Power big data contains a lot of information related to equipment fault. The analysis and processing of power big data can realize fault diagnosis. This study mainly analyzed the application of association rules in power big data processing. Firstly, the association rules and the Apriori algorithm were introduced. Then, aiming at the shortage of the Apriori algorithm, an IM-Apriori algorithm was designed, and a simulation experiment was carried out. The results showed that the IM-Apriori algorithm had a significant advantage over the Apriori algorithm in the running time. When the number of transactions was 100 000, the running of the IM-Apriori algorithm was 38.42% faster than that of the Apriori algorithm. The IM-Apriori algorithm was little affected by the value of supportmin. Compared with the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), the IM-Apriori algorithm had better accuracy. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the IM-Apriori algorithm in fault diagnosis, and it can be further promoted and applied in power grid equipment.

Subjective Well-Being is related to the Big-Five and to Individualistic and Collectivistic beliefs of Polish adolescents. In the present study, we examined whether Individualism and Collectivism beliefs mediate between the Big-Five and Subjective Well-being among adolescents, young and middle-aged adults. Adolescents (N = 174, 36% men, aged 14–18), young (N = 254, 45% men, aged 19–24) and middle-aged adults (N = 252, 54% men, aged 40–55) completed the NEO-FFI, the Ind-Col20, and measures of Subjective Well-being. The three groups differed on all dimensions. Adolescents reported the highest Neuroticism, the lowest Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, the highest Individualism and Collectivism beliefs and lowest SWB. Among adolescents, SEM analyses indicated that Subjective Well-being was negatively related to Neuroticism and Agreeableness, positively to Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Horizontal Individualism, Horizontal and Vertical Collectivism. Among young and middle-aged adults Subjective Well-being was negatively related to Neuroticism and Horizontal Collectivism, positively to Openness, Conscientiousness, Horizontal and Vertical Individualism. Beliefs partially mediated the effects of traits. Relationships were different for cognitive and affective Subjective Well-being indices.

Do analizy wybranych zostało pięć największych miast polskich (Warszawa, Kraków, Łódź, Wrocław i Poznań). Aby w sposób pełny pokazać zróżnicowanie zjawiska migracji wewnętrznych w badanych miastach, analizę uzupełniono o wskaźnik atrakcyjności migracyjnej. Jako miernik atrakcyjności migracyjnej przyjęto wskaźnik przedstawiający relację salda migracji do obrotu migracyjnego.
The goal of this paper is an attempt to present the diversity in the current and prognosed migration effects (migration balance) in the biggest Polish cities. Five biggest Polish cities (Warszawa, Kraków, Łódź, Wrocław i Poznań) are covered by the study. The analysis of the index of cities’ migration attractiveness presented in the study allows to get the more detailed picture of the mechanisms of internal migration.

Lean thinking and Industry 4.0 have been broadly investigated in recent years in intelligent manufacturing. Lean Production is still one of the most efficient industrial solutions in business and research, despite being implemented for a long time. On the other hand, Industry 4.0 has been introduced referring to the fourth industrial revolution. This study aims to analyze the combination of both Industry 4.0 and Lean production practices through a systematic literature review from a Lean Automation perspective. In this field, 189 articles are examined using VOSviewer for cluster analysis. Then, a more detailed analysis is provided to explore how Industry 4.0 and Lean techniques are integrated from a practical perspective. Results highlighted Big Data Analysis and Value Stream Mapping as the most common techniques, also emphasizing a growing trend toward new publications. Nevertheless, few practical applications are identified in the literature highlighting six gaps in the correlation of LA practices.

We address one of the weaknesses of the RSA ciphering systems \textit{i.e.} the existence of the private keys that are relatively easy to compromise by the attacker. The problem can be mitigated by the Internet services providers, but it requires some computational effort. We propose the proof of concept of the GPGPU-accelerated system that can help detect and eliminate users' weak keys. We have proposed the algorithms and developed the GPU-optimised program code that is now publicly available and substantially outperforms the tested CPU processor. The source code of the OpenSSL library was adapted for GPGPU, and the resulting code can perform both on the GPU and CPU processors. Additionally, we present the solution how to map a triangular grid into the GPU rectangular grid \textendash{} the basic dilemma in many problems that concern pair-wise analysis for the set of elements. Also, the comparison of two data caching methods on GPGPU leads to the interesting general conclusions. We present the results of the experiments of the performance analysis of the selected algorithms for the various RSA key length, configurations of GPU grid, and size of the tested key set.

Opis:
The problem was taken up by the epistemological promises emerging among the Big Data enthusiasts. There have been discussions about the use of Big Data as a method or a technique for social research. Also, the promises mentioned above and the common ‘the end of experts’ slogan were criticised. Conclusions concern cognitive opportunities and risks, especially in the social sciences. It was considered that Big Data could be known as a knowledge acquisition tool. However, a strong skeptical approach is necessary. For sociologists, exploring the phenomenon itself is valuable for understanding the information society. The possible direction of future Big Data research is also indicated.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between positive orientation (PO) defined as a basic predisposition to perceive and evaluate positive aspects of life, the future and oneself and the Five-Factor Model of personality (FFM). Hypotheses postulated positive correlations between PO and extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness and openness; a negative correlation was predicted between PO and neuroticism. Two hundred Polish students completed the following measures: SES (Self-Esteem Scale, Rosenberg), SWLS (The Satisfaction with Life Scale; Diener, Emmons, Larson & Griffin), LOT-R (The Life Orientation Test - Revised; Scheier, Carver & Bridges) and NEOFFI (NEO Five Factor Inventory, Costa & McCrae). The results confirmed correlations between PO and extraversion, conscientiousness, and neuroticism; correlations with openness and agreeableness were not supported. According to canonical correlations, PO shows a clear affinity to the FFM.

The application of churn prevention represents an important step for mobile communication companies aiming at increasing customer loyalty. In a machine learning perspective, Customer Value Management departments require automated methods and processes to create marketing campaigns able to identify the most appropriate churn prevention approach. Moving towards a big data-driven environment, a deeper understanding of data provided by churn processes and client operations is needed. In this context, a procedure aiming at reducing the number of churners by planning a customized marketing campaign is deployed through a data-driven approach. Decision Tree methodology is applied to drow up a list of clients with churn propensity: in this way, customer analysis is detailed, as well as the development of a marketing campaign, integrating the individual churn model with viral churn perspective. The first step of the proposed procedure requires the evaluation of churn probability for each customer, based on the influence of his social links. Then, the customer profiling is performed considering (a) individual variables, (b) variables describing customer-company interactions, (c) external variables. The main contribution of this work is the development of a versatile procedure for viral churn prevention, applying Decision Tree techniques in the telecommunication sector, and integrating a direct campaign from the Customer Value Management marketing department to each customer with significant churn risk. A case study of a mobile communication company is also presented to explain the proposed procedure, as well as to analyze its real performance and results.
