Opis:
The present paper discusses an effective adaptive methods suited for use in parallel environment. An in-house, parallel flow solver based on the residual distribution method is used for the solution of flow problems. Simulation is parallelized based on the domain decomposition approach. Adaptive changes to the mesh are achieved by two distinctive techniques. Mesh refinement is performed by dividing element edges and a subsequent application of pre defined splitting templates. Mesh regularization and derefinement is achieved through topology conserving node movement (r-adaptivity). Parallel implementations of an adaptive use the dynamic load balancing technique.

Opis:
This is a report of lesions associated with the nematodes (Anisakidae) from the stomach of ringed seals (Pusa hispida). On thirty one examined ringed seals from Arviat, thirteen were infected by 1 to 24 anisakids. Identification of nematodes from their stomachs showed two species; Contracaecum osculatum (sensu lato) (79 specimens) and Pseudoterranova decipiens (sensu lato) (11 specimens). In the gastric sections with parasites, larvae and adults of nematodes were present mainly in the fundic portion of the stomach. The anterior parts of the nematodes were embedded in mucosa and submucosa. Anisakids were associated with ulcerous gastric lesions and raised inflammatory areas in the stomachs. The histological examination of a sample taken from the tissue surrounding anisakids revealed the presence of more or less confluent focal necrotic areas. Most small petechial hemorrhages were located in the mucosal layer of the gastric wall and were surrounded by inflammatory mononuclear cells such as lymphocytes, histiocytes, eosinophils and fibroblasts. The Anisakidae larvae in the stomach caused atrophy of glands, hemorrhaging and eosinophilic infiltrations that consequently healed, creating fibrotic scars.

Opis:
This paper provides an analysis of experimental research and results of investment casting process. Temperature field in a ceramic mold is one of the problems during numerical simulation. Reducing the costs of production in precision casting involves the reduction of scraps, which is one of the fundamental problems of the foundry industry. Reducing these costs is associated with optimization of precision casting technology of aircraft engines critical parts, including control of the solidification front in thin-walled castings of nickel super alloys cast in a vacuum. It is achieved by changing the geometrical characteristics of the ceramic mold. The results of the tests were used to optimize the industrial production of aircraft components in Precision Foundry of WSK Rzeszów. Temperature distribution gained in the conducted tests allowed verification and optimization of computer simulations.

Opis:
Variations of a flow stress vs. true strain illustrate behavior of material during plastic deformation. Stress-strain relationship is generally evaluated by a torsion, compression and tensile tests. Results of these tests provide crucial information pertaining to the stress values which are necessary to run deformation process at specified deformation parameters. Uniaxial compression tests at the temperature through which precipitation hardening phases process occurred (900-1200°C), were conducted on superalloy - CMSX-4, to study the effect of temperature and strain rate (ε =10 to the -4 and 4x10 to the -4 s to the -1) on its flow stress. On the basis of received flow stress values activation energy of a high-temperature deformation process was estimated. Mathematical dependences (σpl - τ i σpl - ε) and compression data were used to determine material's constants. These constants allow to derive a formula that describes the relationship between strain rate (ε), deformation temperature (τ) and flow stress σpl - ε = A1σ to the n ∙ exp(-Q / RT).
Zachowanie się materiału podczas odkształcania plastycznego na gorąco charakteryzują krzywe zmiany naprężenia uplastyczniającego w funkcji odkształcenia. Do ich oceny stosowane są próby skręcania, ściskania lub rozciągania. Pozwalają określić dane niezbędne do prowadzenia procesu przeróbki plastycznej materiału z zastosowaniem odpowiednich parametrów odkształcania - temperatury i prędkości chłodzenia. W pracy przedstawiono analizę wyników badań wpływu temperatury i prędkości odkształcania (ε = 10 do - 4 i 4 x 10 do -4 s do -1) na wartość naprężenia uplastyczniającego nadstopu niklu - CMSX-4 w zakresie wartości temperatury wydzielania cząstek faz umacniających (900-1200°C) uzyskane w jednoosiowej próbie ściskania. Ustalone wartości naprężenia uplastyczniającego były podstawą do wyznaczenia energii aktywacji Q procesu odkształcania wysokotemperaturowego. Na podstawie uzyskanych danych oraz odpowiednich zależności (σpl - τ i σpl - ε) określono wartości stałych materiałowych oraz ustalono zależność prędkości (ε), temperatury odkształcenia (τ) i naprężeniem ustalonego płynięcia plastycznego σpl - ε = A1σ do n ∙ exp(-Q / RT).

Opis:
The paper raises the issue of optimizing the control of the rural low voltage microgrids. Microgrids can operate in a synchronous mode with grids of distribution system operators and in an island mode. We can distinguish two control strategies in microgrids: one approach based on centralized control logic, which is usually used, and another on decentralized control logic. In this paper we decided to present the approach based on the distributed control, combining the efforts of the distributed cooperative control and modified Monte Carlo optimization method. Special attention has been paid to the impact of the order of processing particular devices’ groups on results of optimization calculations. Moreover, different scenarios of behavior of the microgrid control system with respect to the communication loss have been also presented. The influence of the issue of continuity of communication between particular devices’ groups on the possibility of carrying out the optimization process has been investigated. Additionally, characteristics of power loads and generation of electricity from small renewable energy appearing in rural areas have been described and the sensitivity of the optimization algorithm to the changes of demanded power values and changes of values of power generated by renewable energy sources has been studied. We analyzed different objective functions which can be can be used as an optimization goal both in synchronous and island operation modes of microgrid. We decided to intensively test our approach on a sample rural LV microgrid, which is typical in the countryside. The observed results of the tests have been presented and analyzed in detail. Generally, results achieved with the use of proposed distributed control are the same as with the use of centralized control. We think that the approach based on distributed control is promising for practical applications, because of its advantages.
