Opis:
Matrix factorization is at the heart of many machine learning algorithms, for example, dimensionality reduction (e.g. kernel PCA) or recommender systems relying on collaborative filtering. Understanding a singular value decomposition (SVD) of a matrix as a neural network optimization problem enables us to decompose large matrices efficiently while dealing naturally with missing values in the given matrix. But most importantly, it allows us to learn the connection between data points’ feature vectors and the matrix containing information about their pairwise relations. In this paper we introduce a novel neural network architecture termed similarity encoder (SimEc), which is designed to simultaneously factorize a given target matrix while also learning the mapping to project the data points’ feature vectors into a similarity preserving embedding space. This makes it possible to, for example, easily compute out-of-sample solutions for new data points. Additionally, we demonstrate that SimEc can preserve non-metric similarities and even predict multiple pairwise relations between data points at once.

Opis:
The objective of this paper is to present a work concerning a digital control loop system for satellite medium power DC-DC converters that is done in Space Research Centre. The whole control process of a described power converter is based on a high speed digital signal processing. The paper presents a development of a FPGA digital controller for voltage and current mode stabilization that was implemented using VHDL. The described controllers are based on a classical digital PID controller. The converter used for testing is a 200 kHz, 750W buck converter with 50V/15A output. A high resolution digital PWM approach is presented. Additionally a simple and effective solution of filtering of an analog-to-digital converter output is presented.

Opis:
This paper shows the results of studying the technology of manufacturing cortical electrode-instruments (EI) with the use of indirect methods of the Rapid Prototyping technology. Functional EI prototypes were made by layered synthesis of the photopolymer material with the use of the stereolithography technology (SLA - Stereo Lithography Apparatus). The article is focused on two methods of indirect EI manufacturing. One of the EI prototypes was used for making a molded wax model for hot investment casting, followed by applying copper coating. The second prototype was used for applying copper plating to a prepared current-conductive layer. As a result of EDMing a steel workpiece, both EIs reached the desired depth, which is 1 mm. The copper plating applied to the EI preserves its integrity. Through the use of the casting technology, there is a possibility to cut the economic costs by 35%. Using a prototype with preliminarily applie conductive coating makes it possible to make geometrically-complex EIs.

Opis:
The method of determining the accuracy of polymer molds in plaster forms has been discussed. Distortion of the surface of molds and plaster molds has been assessed. It has been found that the presence of monolithic and porous structure in the samples does not change the accuracy of the surfaces when forms are prepared for removing the material of the model. It has been found that in case of full-mold casting it is more expedient to form the mold cavity with cellular adjustable structures of molding prototypes.

Opis:
The instability characteristics of a dielectric fluid layer heated from below under the influence of a uniform vertical alternating current (AC) electric field is analyzed for different types of electric potential (constant electric potential/ electric current), velocity (rigid/free) and temperature boundary conditions (constant temperature/heat flux or a mixed condition at the upper boundary). The resulting eigenvalue problem is solved numerically using the shooting method for various boundary conditions and the solution is also found in a simple closed form when the perturbation heat flux is zero at the boundaries. The possibility of a more precise control of electrothermal convection (ETC) through various boundary conditions is emphasized. The effect of increasing AC electric Rayleigh number is to hasten while that of Biot number is to delay the onset of ETC. The system is more stable for rigid-rigid boundaries when compared to rigid-free and least stable for free-free boundaries. The change of electric potential boundary condition at the upper boundary from constant electric potential to constant electric current is found to instill more stability on the system.

Opis:
A comparative analysis of a compact planar Square patch Microstrip Multiband antenna on three different substrates is proposed. The proposed design has a C-shaped slot etched on the square radiating part and the antenna is energized using microstrip feed line. RT Duroid (ε r= 2.2), Taconic (ε r= 3.2) and FR4 (ε r= 4.4) substrates are used for simulation analysis. The flow of current is modified by the C-shaped slot making the antenna to resonate at 3/4 and 6 bands for RT Duroid/Taconic and FR4 substrates respectively suitable for 5G sub GHz applications. The antenna has a compact dimension of 32 × 32 × 1.6 mm 3 and exhibits a return loss, S11 of less than -10dB for all the resonating frequencies for all three substrates. The analysis has been done by considering the S11 (Return loss <-10 dB), Directivity, Antenna Gain, VSWR and surface current distribution. Table II provides the comparison of parameters for different substrate material.

Opis:
The role of cytochrome P450 monooxygenase in pyrethroid resistance was studied in different strains of the cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera, from India. Filed collected strains of Nagpur and Delhi were compared to the laboratory reared population. The results showed a high resistance to deltamethrin, α-cypermethrin, and β-cyfluthrin. The results also showed that this resistance could be reduced by using piperonyl butoxide (PBO). The Nagpur and Delhi strains were found to have a 2.40 and 1.79 fold higher monooxygenase activity compared to a susceptible strain. A strong, positive correlation between monooxygenase activity and pyrethroid resistance was observed (r = 0.86 - 0.98). The relative expression of the housekeeping gene, EF-1α, and three P450 genes, was studied in the 5th instar larval midgut of the three strains. Out of the three P450 genes examined, expression of CYP6B7 mRNA was not detected in the midgut of the susceptible strain though it was highly expressed in the resistant strains. The midgut of the Nagpur strain had a 2.60 fold overexpression of CYP6B7 mRNA compared to the moderately resistant, Delhi strain. The mRNA of CYP4G8 and CYP6B2 were not overexpressed in either the Nagpur or Delhi strain. The results indicated that the elevated cytochrome P450 monooxygenase activity is associated with pyrethroid resistance in Indian strains of H. armigera, and CYP6B7 could be the P450 form responsible for pyrethroid resistance.
