Opis:
Network on chip (NoC) is presented as a promising solution to face off the growing up of the data exchange in the multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC). However, the traditional NoC faces two main problems: the bandwidth and the energy consumption. To face off these problems, a new technology in MPSoC, namely, optical network-on-chip (ONoC) has been introduced which it uses the optical communication to guaranty a high performance in communication between cores. In addition, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is exploited in ONoC to reach a high rate of bandwidth. Nevertheless, the transparency nature of the ONoC components induce crosstalk noise to the optical signals, which it has a direct effect to the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) then decrease the performance of the ONoC. In this paper, we proposed a new system to control these impairments in the network in order to detect and monitor crosstalk noise in WDM-based ONoC. Furthermore, the crosstalk monitoring system is a distributed hardware system designed and test with the different optical components according the various network topology used in ONoC. The register-transfer level (RTL) hardware design and implementation of this system can result in high reliability, scalability and efficiency with running time less than 20 ms.

This paper presents the application of Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices based on heuristic algorithms in power systems. The work proposes the Autonomous Groups Particle Swarm Optimization (AGPSO) approach fort he optimal placement and sizing of the Static Var Compensator (SVC) to minimize thetotal active power losses in transmission lines. A comparative study is conducted with other heuristic optimization algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Time-varying Acceleration Coefficients PSO (TACPSO), Improved PSO (IPSO), Modified PSO(MPSO), and Moth-Flam Optimization (MFO) algorithms to confirm the efficacy of the proposed algorithm. Computer simulations have been carried out on MATLAB with the MATPOWER additional package to evaluate the performance of the AGPSO algorithm on the IEEE 14 and 30 bus systems. The simulation results show that the proposed algorith moffers the best performance among all algorithms with the lowest active power losses and the highest convergence rate.

Nodes' aware-mobility in the Internet of Things (IoTs) stills open defy for researchers, due to the dynamic changing of routing path and networks’ resource limitations. Therefore, in this study a new method is proposed called Mobility Aware - “Routing Protocol for Low power and Lossy Networks” (MARPL), that consists of two phases: in the first phase splitting the entire network into sub areas based on reference nodes with “Time Difference of Arrival” (TDoA) technique. While, the second phase, is about managing mobile nodes (MNs) in RPL according to the sub areas' ID. The Cooja simulator software has been used to implement and assess MA-RPL method performance, according to the data packet metrics (lost packet, packet delivery ratio PDR), latency and nodes' power usage in comparison with two methods: Corona (Co-RPL) and Mobility Enhanced (ME-RPL). The simulation results have been shown that the MA-RPL method consumes less nodes' energy usage, gives less latency with minimum data packet loss in comparison with Co-RPL and MERPL.

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a type of Ad hoc network. General properties of MANET open the network to various security threats. Network layer-based Active attacks are widespread and destructive. Available security solutions contain complex calculations. Therefore, the objective of this research is to propose a lightweight security mechanism to enhance the security of data communications between source and destination nodes in a MANET from network layer-based active attack. Blackhole is used as a network layer-based Active attack. The network performance is evaluated using Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Average End-to-End Delay (AEED), Throughput, and Simulation Processing Time at Intermediate Nodes (SPTIN). The controller network was used to compare the performance of each network. During the experiment due to the impact of the blackhole attack, compared to the controller network, the PDR was found to be 0.28%, AEED was infinity and Throughput was 0.33%. The performance of the proposed security mechanism was compared with that of the controller network, and the values of PDR, AEED, Throughput, and SPTIN were found to be 98.0825%, 100.9346%, 99.9988%, and 96.5660%, respectively. The data packet delivery ratio was 100.00% compared to that of the controller network. The network that was affected by a blackhole attack showed a higher amount of ADDR than the controller network and the lowest amount of PDR. The network that was affected by the blackhole showed underperformance compared to the controller network. The proposed security mechanism performs well in PDR, AEED, and Throughput compared to the controller network. The AEED and SPTIN values prove that the proposed solution is free from complex calculations. The scope of the solution can be expanded into a lightweight Intruder Detection System to handle different types of security attacks in MANETs.

Opis:
For high speed downlinking of payload data from small satellites, a new 4×4 aperture coupled microstrip patch array antenna has been presented. The antenna is designed for the Ku band and a peak gain of 18.0 dBi is achieved within the impedance bandwidth from 11.75 GHz to 12.75 GHz. Wide bandwidth is achieved as the patch elements are excited through E-shaped slots having asymmetric side lengths and widths. Each square patch element of the array with truncated corners and appropriately placed slots generates right hand circularly polarized (RHCP) radiation with very high cross-polarization discrimination. A corporate feed network consisting of T-junctions and quarter-wave impedance transformers is developed to feed the array elements from a single coaxial port of 50 Ω. To improve the radiation from the patches and wave-guiding in the feed network, two types of Rogers substrates with different dielectric constant and thickness are considered. Our proposed microstrip patch array antenna of size 7.8 cm × 6.4 cm × 0.3 cm can perform efficiently with a downlink data rate as high as 4.6 Gbps for small satellites.

The solar photovoltaic output power fluctuates according to solar irradiation, temperature, and load impedance variations. Due to the operating point fluctuations, extracting maximum power from the PV generator, already having a low power conversion ratio, becomes very complicated. To reach a maximum power operating point, a maximum power point tracking technique (MPPT) should be used. Under partial shading condition, the nonlinear PV output power curve contains multiple maximum power points with only one global maximum power point (GMPP). Consequently, identifying this global maximum power point is a difficult task and one of the biggest challenges of partially shaded PV systems. The conventional MPPT techniques can easily be trapped in a local maximum instead of detecting the global one. The artificial neural network techniques used to track the GMPP have a major drawback of using huge amount of data covering all operating points of PV system, including different uniform and non-uniform irradiance cases, different temperatures and load impedances. The biological intelligence techniques used to track GMPP, such as grey wolf algorithm and cuckoo search algorithm (CSA), have two main drawbacks; to be trapped in a local MPP if they have not been well tuned and the precision-transient tracking time complex paradox. To deal with these drawbacks, a Distributive Cuckoo Search Algorithm (DCSA) is developed, in this paper, as GMPP tracking technique. Simulation results of the system for different partial shading patterns demonstrated the high precision and rapidity, besides the good reliability of the proposed DCSA-GMPPT technique, compared to the conventional CSA-GMPPT.

In this paper, the two-temperature thermoelasticity model is proposed to a specific problem of a thermoelastic semi-infinite solid. The bounding plane surface of the semi-infinite solid is considered to be under a non-Gaussian laser pulse. Generalized thermoelasticity analysis with dual-phase-lags is taken into account to solve the present problem. Laplace transform and its inversion techniques are applied and an analytical solution as well as its numerical outputs of the field variables are obtained. The coupled theory and other generalized theory with one relaxation time may be derived as special cases. Comparison examples have been made to show the effect of dual-phase-lags, temperature discrepancy, laser-pulse and laser intensity parameters on all felids. An additional comparison is also made with the theory of thermoelasticity at a single temperature.

Opis:
This paper aims at designing, building, and simulating a secured routing protocol to defend against packet dropping attacks in mobile WSNs (MWSNs). This research addresses the gap in the literature by proposing Configurable Secured Adaptive Routing Protocol (CSARP). CSARP has four levels of protection to allow suitability for different types of network applications. The protocol allows the network admin to configure the required protection level and the ratio of cluster heads to all nodes. The protocol has an adaptive feature, which allows for better protection and preventing the spread of the threats in the network. The conducted CSARP simulations with different conditions showed the ability of CSARP to identify all malicious nodes and remove them from the network. CSARP provided more than 99.97% packets delivery rate with 0% data packet loss in the existence of 3 malicious nodes in comparison with 3.17% data packet loss without using CSARP. When compared with LEACH, CSARP showed an improvement in extending the lifetime of the network by up to 39.5%. The proposed protocol has proven to be better than the available security solutions in terms of configurability, adaptability, optimization for MWSNs, energy consumption optimization, and the suitability for different MWSNs applications and conditions.

The development in industrial systems leads to the augmentation in the consumption of the power. Therefore, this development makes use of multiphase machines. The use of multiphase machines caused several problems and defects. Electrical energy is mainly distributed in a three-phase system to provide the electrical power necessary for the electrical engineering equipment and materials. The sinusoidal aspect of the required original voltage primarily preserves its essential qualities for transmitting useful power to terminal equipment. When the voltage waveform is no longer sinusoidal, perturbations are encountered, which generate malfunctions and overheating of the receivers and the equipment connected to the same electrical supply network. The main disturbing phenomena are harmonics, voltage fluctuations, voltage unbalances, electromagnetic fields, and electrostatic discharges. This present work aims to study the effects of harmonic pollution and voltage unbalance on the five-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine using spectrum current analysis and wavelet transform.

Nowadays, the main challenge in maintenance is to establish a dynamic maintenance strategy to significantly track and improve the performance measures of multi-state systems in terms of production, quality, security and even the environment. This paper presents a quantitative approach based on Dynamic Bayesian Network (DBN) to model and evaluate the maintenance of multi-state system and their functional dependencies. According to transition relationships between the system states modeled by the Markov process, a DBN model is established. The objective is to evaluate the reliability and the availability of the system with taking into account the impact of maintenance strategies (perfect repair and imperfect repair). Using the proposed approach, the dynamic probabilities of system states can be determined and the subsystems contributing to system failure can also be identified. A practical application is demonstrated by a case study of a blower system. Through the result of the diagnostic inference, to improve the performances of the blower, the critical components C, F, W, and P should be given more attention. The results indicate also that the perfect repair strategy can improve significantly the performances of the blower, while the imperfect repair strategy cannot degrade the performances in comparison to the perfect repair strategy. These results show the effectiveness of this approach in the context of a predictive evaluation process and in providing the opportunity to evaluate the impact of the choices made on the future measurement of systems performances. Finally, through diagnostic analysis, intervention management and maintenance planning are managed efficiently and optimally.

With the advent of massive MIMO and mmWave, Antenna selection is the new frontier in hybrid beamforming employed in 5G base stations. Tele-operators are reworking on the components while upgrading to 5G where the antenna is a last-mile device. The burden on the physical layer not only demands smart and adaptive antennas but also an intelligent antenna selection mechanism to reduce power consumption and improve system capacity while degrading the hardware cost and complexity. This work focuses on reducing the power consumption and finding the optimal number of RF chains for a given millimeter wave massive MIMO system. At first, we investigate the power scaling method for both perfect Channel State Information (CSI) and imperfect CSI where the power is reduced by1/Nᵣ and 1/√Nᵣ respectively. We further propose to reduce the power consumption by emphasizing on the subdued resolution of Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) with quantization awareness. The proposed algorithm selects the optimal number of antenna elements based on the resolution of ADCs without compromising on the quality of reception. The performance of the proposed algorithm shows significant improvement when compared with conventional and random antenna selection methods.
