Opis:
This article aims to investigate the two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow of nanofluid. Convective mass condition is introduced. Analysis has been discussed in the presence of an applied magnetic field. The Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects are incorporated. The arising nonlinear problems are first converted to ordinary differential equations and then series solutions are constructed. Convergence of series solutions is examined through plots and numerical values. Results are plotted and discussed for the temperature and concentration. Numerical computations for skin-friction coefficient, local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are performed and analyzed. Comparison with the previous limiting case is noted in an excellent agreement.

Opis:
The objective of this study was to investigate the performance of streamflow in a lowland mesoscale catchment in Poland under current and future climate conditions. Simulations of hypothetical streamflow in the future climate were facilitated by meteorological data sets from ensemble simulations from all over Europe with the Regional Climate Model CLM. Projections of precipitation and air temperature for the 21st century under the SRES A1B scenario were used as an input to the hydrological model simulating streamflow at the daily time scale. The combination of relatively moderate increase of annual precipitation sum and mean air temperature might cause lower annual discharges. The possible decrease in stream water resources might be a signal of reduced subsurface recharge and land over drying processes.

Opis:
The first step towards condition based maintenance of the milling plant is the implementation of on- line condition monitoring of the mill. The following paper pr esents and analyses methods of monitoring the key performance factors of a vertical spindle mill that is suited for implementation on older power stations, i.e. the quantity (mass flow rate) and quality (particle fineness) of the pulverised fuel produced by the mill. It is shown herein that the mill throughput can be monitored on-line using a simple mill energy balance that successfully predicts the coal the roughput within 2.33% as compared to a calibrated coal feeder. A sensitivity analysis reveals that the coal moisture is a critical measurement for this method to be adopted as an on-line mass flow monitoring tool. A laser based particle size analyser tool was tested for use in the power plant environment as an on-line monitoring solution to measure pulverised fuel fineness. It was revealed that several factors around the set-up and operation of the instrument have an influence on the perceived results. Although the instrument showed good precision and repeatability of results, these factors must be taken into account in order to improve the accuracy of the reported results before the instrument can be commissioned as an on-line monitoring solution.

Opis:
The perspective of the current analysis is to represent the incompressible viscous flow past a low permeable spheroid contained in a fictitious spheroidal cell. Stokes approximation and Darcy’s equation are adopted to govern the flow in the fluid and permeable zone, respectively. Happel’s and Kuwabara’s cell models are employed as the boundary conditions at the cell surface. At the fluid porous interface, we suppose the conditions of conservation of mass, balancing of pressure component at the permeable area with the normal stresses in the liquid area, and the slip condition, known as Beavers-Joseph-Saffman-Jones condition to be well suitable. A closed-form analytical expression for hydrodynamic drag on the bounded spheroidal particle is determined and therefore, mobility of the particle is also calculated, for both the case of a prolate as well as an oblate spheroid. Several graphs and tables are plotted to observe the dependence of normalized mobility on pertinent parameters including permeability, deformation, the volume fraction of the particle, slip parameter, and the aspect ratio. Significant results that influence the impact of the above parameters in the problem have been pointed out. Our work is validated by referring to previous results available in literature as reduction cases.
