    Opis:
    The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging technology that was conceived in 1999. The key components of the IoT are intelligent sensors, which represent objects of interest. The adjective ‘intelligent’ is used here in the information gathering sense, not the psychological sense. Some 30 billion sensors that ‘know’ the current status of objects they represent are already connected to the Internet. Various studies indicate that the number of installed sensors will reach 212 billion by 2020. Various scenarios of IoT projects show sensors being able to exchange data with the network as well as between themselves. In this contribution, we discuss the possibility of deploying the IoT in cartography for real-time mapping. A real-time map is prepared using data harvested through querying sensors representing geographical objects, and the concept of a virtual sensor for abstract objects, such as a land parcel, is presented. A virtual sensor may exist as a data record in the cloud. Sensors are identified by an Internet Protocol address (IP address), which implies that geographical objects through their sensors would also have an IP address. This contribution is an updated version of a conference paper presented by the author during the International Federation of Surveyors 2014 Congress in Kuala Lumpur. The author hopes that the use of the IoT for real-time mapping will be considered by the mapmaking community.

    The author takes into considerations the relationship between localization behaviors of the businesses and the societies of the globalized economy and the forms of physical structures and spaces of cities. He consideration these relations in the context of new business and new public spaces in contemporary city. Than the author, put the question if is it possible, and at what conditions to specify basic rules and laws governing these relationships? He analyzes them under the condition of interfering with the spatial and functional realm by the public authorities in order to stimulate the sustainable development of the city. In the fi nal part of the article are the general conclusions and conditions formulated essential for proper management of the development of contemporary cities.

    W artykule odniosę się do niektórych aspektów dotyczących etosu badacza. Interesuje mnie pytanie o to, jakie wyzwania współczesnej nauki i techniki (rozważane w kategorii etosu naukowego) budzą dziś i winny budzić szczególne zainteresowanie naukoznawców. Jest to olbrzymi problem, który zostanie naszkicowany z odniesieniem do wybranych tylko kontrowersji szeroko dyskutowanych w środowisku naukoznawczym. Wskażę także na pewne założenia teoretyczne będące u podstaw dyskutowanych kontrowersji mających konsekwencje praktyczne. Te podstawy teoretyczne dotyczyć będą założeń o charakterze aksjologicznym (przede wszystkim neutralności bądź zobowiązań aksjologicznych nauki). Zamierzam ukazać te problemy odwołując się m.in. do badań klasyków naukoznawstwa w Polsce Marii i Stanisława Ossowskich, Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego, jak i ich twórczych kontynuatorów, by w ten skromny sposób uczcić i docenić ich olbrzymi wkład w jubileuszową działalność Komitetu Naukoznawstwa.
    In this paper I appeal to some aspects of research ethos. In the fi eld of my interest is the question: what challenges of contemporary science and technology (considered in the category of scientifi c ethos) arouse and should arouse special attention in science studies. It is an important issue which will be merely briefl y outlined in reference to some controversies which are broadly discussed in science studies. I shall also point out some theoretical assumptions of these controversies which lead to serious practical consequences. These theoretical grounds concern mainly axiological issues (especially the question whether science is axiologically neutral or committed). I intend to consider these problems in reference to the research of classics of science studies in Poland (Maria and Stanisław Ossowski, Tadeusz Kotarbiński and their creative successors) in order to honour and appreciate their great contribution to the activity of the Science of Science Committee.

    The article raises the issue of coherence as the main challenge as well as a deficit of the contemporary social policy. One of the basic ideas connected with the so-called active social policy is coherence, included in the EU policy of coherence that is being implemented. The policy of coherence is above all aims, ideas, directions, the indication of desired states with regard to funds for their realization. Can the challenges for the practice of coherence policy be built around the notion of 'coherence'? Can convergence, inclusion, equality and the stimulation of social capital be built in a coherent way? The author attempts to answer these questions indicating some challenges for the practice of social policy coming from the analysis of such terms as cognitive, structural, social and socio-economic coherence. The analysis leads to specification of the basic elements (challenges) of the practice of coherence policy, among which are the elimination of contradictions, internal integration, efficiency, control and rationality as well as positive attitudes. The consideration of the aims of social policy and the challenges for its practice (that is achieving these aims) allows to speak about coherent social policy, or the coherent policy of activation.
    W artykule poruszony jest problem spójności jako kluczowe wyzwanie, a jednocześnie deficyt współczesnej polityki społecznej. Jedną z podstawowych idei związanych z tzw. aktywną polityką społeczną jest spójność, która wpisana jest w politykę UE. Polityka spójności to jednak przede wszystkim cele, idee, kierunki, wskazywanie pożądanych stanów z uwzględnieniem środków finansowych na ich realizację. Czy wokół pojęcia „spójność” można budować wyzwania dla praktyki polityki spójności? Czy konwergencja, inkluzja, równość i stymulowanie kapitału społecznego może być budowane w spójny sposób? Na te pytania staram się odpowiadać, wskazując na wyzwania dla polityki społecznej, płynące z analizy takich pojęć, jak spójność: poznawcza, strukturalna, społeczna i społeczno-ekonomiczna. Analiza ta prowadzi do wyznaczenia podstawowych elementów praktyki polityki spójności, czyli eliminacji sprzeczności, integracji wewnętrznej, sprawności, kontroli i racjonalności oraz pozytywnych postaw. Uwzględnianie celów polityki spójności oraz wyzwań dla jej praktyki (czyli osiągania tychże celów) pozwala mówić o spójnej polityce społecznej, bądź spójnej polityce aktywizacji.
