Opis:
While snowboarding, the human body is subjected to many forces and factors affecting balance. It is assumed that practising snowboarding may improve balance, but the evidence from the literature is scarce. Therefore, our study aimed to examine the effect of snowboard training on balance parameters in adults. Methods: The study included 34 subjects between 19 to 26 years old (21.4 ± 1.44) – students of the University School of Physical Education in Wrocław. They were divided into 2 equal groups. The first group, the practising group consisted of 17 snowboarders who participated in a 6-day snowboard training. The second group, the control group consisted of 17 individuals who had never practised snowboarding. For the conduct of the study, a FreeMED force plate was used. The following parameters were measured: the length of COP sways, the surface of the COP ellipse, and COP ellipse angle. Tests were performed with eyes closed and open. Results: Values of most of the parameters in the practising group decreased insignificantly after 6-day training. Values of parameters in the control group were in most cases insignificantly higher in comparison with the practising group. Conclusions: Our findings may suggest that snowboard training has no effect on balance. Further research on larger groups of participants is required. Research methodology should include electromyography, measurement of the moment of muscle force, and kinematic analysis for evaluation movement during real snowboard ride.

Opis:
The dynamics of performance in professional sport requires a systematic improvement of the training process. Such activities should also include optimizing the children and youth training in these disciplines, where an early specialization operates. The main aim of this paper was to search for the relationship between swimmer’s segmental kinematics (segmental velocities, stroke rate, stroke length, stroke index); the relationship between swimmer’s technical skill level (in four competitive swimming techniques) and training overloads taking into consideration gender and age effect. The study group consisted of 121 swimmers (69 female and 52 male), of the Polish 12–15 age group swim team, volunteered to serve as subjects. Video-based methods and video equipment are being applied to assist qualitative and simple quantitative analysis for immediate feedback and research in swimming. Both technical skill level preparation and segmental kinematics of 12–15 year old swimmers proved to be highly conditioned by implemented training intensity ( p < 0.001), as well as the volume of training (high and average trade at a level of significance p < 0.001). Implemented training overloads expressed by both volume and intensity of training showed high and very high correlation with the swimming efficiency, presented segmental kinematics and technical skill level, however, there appeared particularly pronounced relationship with the size of kinematic parameters taken into account in four competitive swimming techniques, components of the 100 m individual medley.

Opis:
The main aim of the study was to design a new system to measure punching and kicking forces as well as reaction times in combat sport athletes. In addition, the study examined whether there were any intergender differences in the force of punches thrown by boxers and kicking forces delivered by taekwondo athletes. Boxers (male, n = 13; female, n = 7) were examined for the force of single straight punches and taekwondo athletes (male, n = 14; female, n = 14) for force of single Apdolio and Dwit Chagi kicks. The punching bag was equipped with acceleration transducers and gyroscopes embedded in a cylinder covered with a layer to absorb shock as well as a set of colour signal diodes. Value of the punching bag’s acceleration was used for calculating: strike force; the punching location on the bag; and time of a strike. The relative error of force calculation was 3%; the relative error in acceleration measurement was less than 1%. The force of a straight rear-hand punch was greater than the force of a lead-hand punch among male and female boxers. The force of Apdolio kick delivered with a rear leg was greater compared to a lead leg among female and male taekwondo athletes. Significant gender differences were noticed in the force in both types of kicks. In boxers, intergender differences were reported only for the force of a punch thrown with the rear hand. Based on these findings, it was concluded that the modified punching bag is a good diagnostic tool for combat sports.

Opis:
The mass size distribution of five fractions of particulate matter inside most popular types of closed sports facilities before and after athlete training were compared. In all the facilities, the concentrations of particles were higher during the training than before it. Their values depended on the type of flooring and cubic capacity of the rooms. Particle mass size distribution importantly affects the particle deposition rate in the respiratory tract. The results of the work indicate the necessity of further investigating the relations between the physical properties of particles and the effects of inhaling them during training in various sports facilities.
