Opis:
The main when buying car tires we would like them to serve us as long as possible while the experts recommend their replacement after six years at the latest – is it really necessary? In this work the analysis of the impact of car tires operation on microstructure of the steel belt wires has been presented. The results of the presented research have proven that as a result of the complex stresses in the belt wire material the transverse cracks of individual cementite lamellae appear. The observed structural changes are a major cause of fatigue cracks development and finally result in breaking continuity of steel belt wires, breakthrough of the rubber layer and eventually damage to the tires, preventing their further work.

Opis:
The partial substitution of fossil fuels by alternative fuels is associated with economic benefits for the cement producers. This fact has been confirmed by their growing interest in such substitutions. In this paper, based on the energy balance, it was demonstrated for a selected cement plant that by cocombustion of fine coal with the PAS-r fuel the cement plant is able to save 3.03 Mg·h–1 of fine coal thanks to the use of 5.04 Mg·h–1 of the PAS-r fuel. An advantage worth emphasizing is the fact that waste co-incineration is a part of a sustainable development strategy. Energy recovery from waste also is an example of the use of renewable energy sources. The results of the present work allow concluding that the substitution of fossil fuels by alternative fuels is justified by both the environmental and economic objectives.

Opis:
Many pregnant women suffer from pelvic girdle pain (PGP) during pregnancy. Etiologies are multifactorial and affect the joint stability of the sacroiliac joint. Pelvic belts could restore stability and reduce pain during gait. The center of pressure (COP) is a reliable parameter to assess gait and balance. The objectives of this study were to analyze the COP during gait in pregnant women with PGP, to evaluate the effect of pelvic belts and to compare two types of belts on COP parameters. Materials and Methods: 46 pregnant women with PGP, 58 healthy pregnant women and 23 non-pregnant women participated in the study. The motor task consisted of three gait trials at different velocities on an electronic walkway. Two pelvic belts for pregnant women were used. An analysis of variance was performed to determine the effects of the progression of the pregnancy, gait speed, presence of pregnancy and occurrence of pain on the COP parameters. Results: Compared to the control group, pregnant women with PGP had a higher stance time, but COP displacement and velocity were lower. The COP parameters varied between pregnant women with and without pelvic girdle pain, the use of a belt during pregnancy decreased the walking velocity. No difference was found according to the type of belt. Conclusions: Differences in COP parameters during gait between pregnant women with or without PGP were minimal. Pelvic girdle pain did not affect the center of pressure. Wearing a belt during pregnancy modified the center of pressure velocity during gait in pregnant women with PGP.

Opis:
Sediment samples were collected from the coastal area of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone of Musa Bay. The samples were analyzed to determine the degree of hydrocarbon contamination and identify the sources of PAHs which were evaluated by employing the ratios of specific PAHs compounds and principal component analysis (PCA). The levels of TPH concentration in the studied area were relatively moderate compared to the world-wide chronically oil-contaminated locations. The concentration of total PAHs was lower than those in other parts of the Musa Bay but approached the NOAA sediment quality guideline value.
