Opis:
Higher-order mutants are created by injecting two or more mutations into the original program, while first-order mutants are generated by seeding single faults in the original program. Mutant generation is a key stage of mutation testing which is computationally very expensive, especially in the case of higher-order mutants. Although many mutation testing techniques have been developed to construct the first-order mutants, a very small number of techniques have been presented to generate the higher-order mutants because of the exponential growth of the number of higher-order mutants, and the coupling effect between higher-order and first-order mutants. To overcome the exponential explosion in the number of higher-order mutants considered, this paper introduces a new technique for generating a reduced set of higher-order mutants. The proposed technique utilizes a data-flow analysis to decrease the number of mutation points through the program under test and consequently reduce the number of higher-order mutants. In this technique only positions of defs and uses are considered as locations to seed the mutation. The generated set of higher-order mutants consists of a reduced number of mutants, which reduces the costs of higher-order mutation testing. In addition, the proposed technique can generate the higher-order mutants directly without generating the first-order mutants or by combining two or more first-order mutants. A set of experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique. The results of the conducted experiments are presented and compared with the results of the related work. These results showed that the proposed technique is more effective than the earlier techniques in generating higher-order mutants without affecting the efficiency of mutation testing.

Opis:
Natural weathering processes can make coal surface more hydrophilic due to the increase of content of hydrophilic functional groups (C-O, C=O, and COOH) and the decrease of content of hydrophobic functional groups (C-C and C-H) on coal surface, and hence the flotation recovery of fine coal is reduced. In this paper, a series of flotation tests were conducted in order to investigate the changes in the flotation kinetic of bituminous coal before and after natural weathering processes. Additionally, XPS was used to indicate the changes in surface properties of bituminous coal. In the investigations the flotation kinetic was changing. The classical first-order rate constant (k) of bituminous coal flotation was reduced after the natural weathering processes. A relationship between the classical first-order rate constant (k) and the hydrophilicity ability (HA) was given.

Opis:
This research aimed to identify the copper ion removal mechanism when using protonated dry alginate beads. This mechanism was explained through ion exchange between Cu ions and the protons from the functional groups of the alginate beads. Copper removal increased with stirring velocity, reaching values of 97.5 mg g-1 (97.5×10-3 kg/kg of PDAB) of dry alginate at 200 rev min-1, at a solution pH of 6.0 and a run time of 360 min. For the lowest level of copper concentrations, at 10 mg dm-3 (10×10-6 kg dm-3), full removal was attained. The removal kinetics was represented by a pseudo- first order model. A value of 0.0131 min-1 was found for the velocity constant. Under equilibrium conditions, the experiment data was fit to the Langmuir adsorption model, and the highest removal values were 270.3, 222.2 (222.2×10-3 kg/kg of PDAB) and 49 mg g-1 (49×10-3 kg/kg of PDAB) for pH values of 5.0, 3.5 and 2.5, respectively. These are higher than most sorbents used in the literature for copper removal. Increased temperature leads to higher Cu removal. The activation energy was calculated at 9.3 kJ mol-1 for the temperature range of 283 to 343K. Observations using SEM and composition measurements of the alginate cross-section taken by EDS showed a uniform distribution of the copper concentration through the structure of the alginate beads, independent of the solution pH, contact time and temperature.

Opis:
Decomposition kinetics of natural organic substances during the photocatalytic process with a semi-conductor TiO2 has been investigated. In the study, a laboratory reactor Heraeus and in a photocatalytic membrane reactor were used. Simulated solutions of deionized water, surface water and fulvic acids, differing in composition, were tested in the experiment. In order to determine reaction rate constants, the Langmuir–Hinshelwood kinetic model based on the first order reaction was applied. It was found that photocatalytic process enabled effective degradation of natural organic substances although its run was affected by inorganic ions, mainly those producing water hardness, present in water.
