Opis:
The thermal decomposition of supergene potassium-jarosite and sodium-jarosite samples from the weathering profiles of sulfide deposits in the northern Tibetan Plateau, China, was investigated. Electron microprobe, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction analyses indicated the presence of nearly pure potassium-jarosite and sodium-jarosite. Thermogravimetric analysis of the potassium-jarosite sample revealed mass losses of 11.39 wt% at 443.0 °C, 20.99 wt% at 688.3 °C, and 3.18 wt% at 779.3 °C. The thermogravimetric analysis of sodium-jarosite revealed mass losses of 11.72 wt% at 447.5 °C, 21.32 wt% at 682.6 °C, and 3.70 wt% at 716.5 °C. The results provide no evidence for water-molecule loss below 400 °C, as has been reported previously for natural potassium-jarosite and sodium-jarosite. Thermal-decomposition mechanisms have been proposed for potassium-jarosite and sodium-jarosite based on X-ray diffraction analyses of samples obtained at distinct points along the respective thermal decomposition processes. A comparison of the thermal analysis patterns of potassium-jarosite and sodium-jarosite indicates that sodium-jarosite undergoes the initiation of lattice destruction at a higher temperature.

Opis:
Halloysite was intercalated by the mechanochemical technique from dry components. The process efficiency of 50% was achieved. The obtained intercalate differed from the material acquired using an aqueous solution of potassium acetate. The material was analyzed employing electron microscopy, thermogravimetry, X-ray powder diffraction, and dielectric spectroscopy. It was found that the molecules and/or ions present in the interlayer spaces retain some possibility of movement. This property of the material is promising for potential application as low expensive absorbers of electromagnetic radiation.

Opis:
The article presents the concept of a computer system for interpreting unconventional oil and gas deposits with the use of X-ray computed tomography results. The functional principles of the solution proposed are presented in the article. The main goal is to design a product which is a complex and useful tool in a form of a specialist computer software for qualitative and quantitative interpretation of images obtained from X-ray computed tomography. It is devoted to the issues of prospecting and identification of unconventional hydrocarbon deposits. The article focuses on the idea of X-ray computed tomography use as a basis for the analysis of tight rocks, considering especially functional principles of the system, which will be developed by the authors. The functional principles include the issues of graphical visualization of rock structure, qualitative and quantitative interpretation of model for visualizing rock samples, interpretation and a description of the parameters within realizing the module of quantitative interpretation.

Opis:
Purpose: The main objective of this study was to obtain single-phase β-ZrO2 powders with so-called soft agglomerates reproducibile morphology with acetyl-acetone as a chelating-agent. To the best of our knowledge there is no avaiable data which determine the effect of acetyl acetone on the phase composition and morphology of ceria-doped ZrO2 powders for biomedical applications. Methods: Twenty variants of powders with different water to zirconia precursor and acetylacetone to zirconia precursor molar ratios were prepared. 0.9ZrO20.1CeO2 powders were obtained by a hydrolysis and condensation and further calcination of zirconium n-propoxide in a simple one-step sol-gel process. Influence of acetyloacetone to zirconia precursor on the phase composition ratio and water to zirconia precursor was investigated. Samples have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (RS), thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements. Results: Ceramic powders prepared by sol-gel process, according to the various concentration of chelating agent and water show different morphology and phase composition. Conclusions: Higher molar ratios of AcAc in range with smaller amounts of water cause hard agglomerates, obtained powders are characterized by highly thermally stable behaviour and various phase composition. With higher molar ratios of water to zirconium-n-propoxide so-called soft agglomerates and one phase powders are obtained.
