Opis:
Ca2+ and Mg2+ are the most dominating unavoidable ions in the smithsonite flotation. In this paper, the effect of Ca2+ (Mg2+) on the surface of smithsonite sulfidization in a system where water molecules are present was investigated using density functional based tight binding (DFTB+) simulations for the first time. The results indicated that the adsorption of hydrated Ca2+ complexes is stronger than that of hydrated Mg2+ complexes on the hydrated smithsonite (101) surface. In addition, at low concentrations of sodium sulfide, there is no adsorption of HS- on the surface pre-adsorbed with hydrated Ca2+ complexes, but only on the surface pre-adsorbed with hydrated Mg2+ complexes. At high concentrations of Na2S, S2- weakens the adsorption of hydrated Ca2+ complexes due to competitive adsorption, but the presence of S2- could desorb hydrated Mg2+ complexes from the surface. The results compared the differences in effects of Ca2+ and Mg2+ on smithsonite sulfidization, which could provide an atomic scale basis for researching the surface sulfidization of oxide minerals.

Opis:
The current emergency power supply (EPS) measures are not perfect and standardised in response to large-scale power failures, such as city-wide ones. This review paper focuses on reasonably using the emergency electric power source to supply power in case of an abnormal urban power grid, to ensure the regular operation of urban electrical equipment and the daily life of the people. This study first introduces the different kinds of main emergency electric power sources and analyses their advantages and disadvantages. The battery of an electric vehicle as a new potential emergency power source is introduced that can also avoid the loss caused by unexpected power failure. Finally, three different EPS methods are explained in detail for different emergency occasions. Among them, the energy router is reviewed comprehensively considering it is the most potential emergency power distribution approach in the future because of its various applications.

Opis:
Polyaluminum chloride (PACl) was introduced as a flocculant to reduce the entrainment of sericite gangue in fine flaky graphite flotation. The dispersion and aggregation behaviours of sericite and fine flaky graphite in the absence and presence of PACl were studied by settling experiments and verified by optical microscope images. Results of batch flotation tests for artificial mixtures indicated that the addition of PACl decreased the recovery of sericite gangue and the water recovery. Zeta potential measurements, FTIR and XPS analyses revealed that PACl selectively aggregated sericite particles in terms of charge neutralization and precipitate enmeshment.

Opis:
Witherite has been widely used as an industrial and environmental source of barium, with calcite being the primary associated carbonate mineral. However, few studies have been conducted to effectively concentrate witherite from barium ores. In this work, with the treatment of potassium chromate (K2CrO4) and sodium oleate (NaOL), witherite was selectively separated from calcite through selective flotation at different pH conditions. In addition, contact angle, Zeta potential, adsorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements were performed to characterize the separation mechanisms. The results demonstrated that NaOL had a strong collecting ability for both witherite and calcite; nevertheless, witherite could be effectively selected from calcite with the highest recovery at pH 9 in the presence of K2CrO4. From the XPS measurements, NaOL and K2CrO4 were found to be primarily attached to the surfaces of witherite and calcite through chemisorption. The presence of K2CrO4 on the surface of calcite adversely influenced the NaOL adsorption, which could make the flotation separation efficient and successful.

Opis:
Digital volume correlation is an image-based technique for internal 3D displacement and strain fields measurement or analysis widely used in the field of experimental mechanics. A widely used correlation function (criterion) of digital volume correlation is Pearson correlation function, which suffers from the problem of the acquired data being contaminated by salt-and-pepper noise and monotonic nonlinear distortion of the light intensity. In this work, a 3D correlation function called the Spearman correlation function is used to deal with those interferences. A numerical experiment shows that the performance of Spearman correlation function using integer-pixel registration in an environment with 10% salt-and-pepper noise is better than that of Spearman and Pearson correlation functions using sub-pixel registration in an environment with 1% salt-and-pepper noise. As the light intensity distortion is significant, the error of Pearson correlation function is considerable; meanwhile, the error of Spearman correlation function is small. In conclusion, Spearman correlation function is, in particular, practical and useful in digital volume correlation.

Opis:
In a simulated urban river system, the conversion and distribution of six typical antibiotics were investigated under the following conditions: no plant, only Microcystis aeruginosa (algae) and algae combined with Juncus effusus, Cyperus alternifolius, and Acorus calamus. Through the calculation of the mass balance, the quantitative distribution of antibiotics in the water phase, sediment, Microcystis aeruginosa, and plant tissues, and the total elimination efficiency of the antibiotics were determined. The results showed that higher concentrations of sulfathiazole (STZ) and sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) were detected in the water phase of the non-plant group, which were 52.81% and 56.88%, respectively, and ciprofloxacin (CIP) and tetracycline (TCY) were detected higher in the sediment, up to 1562 ng/g and 1829 ng/g, respectively. The antibiotic removal rates have been greatly improved, and those in the system containing Microcystis aeruginosa were higher than that in the system without aquatic plants or algae. The calculation of the mass balance showed that the removal effect of algae combined with Juncus effusus was the best, and the removal rates (azithromycin (AZM) and clarithromycin (CLM)) were the highest, reaching 68.88% and 61.96%. It seems that algae and plants play an important role in the removal of antibiotics.

Opis:
A color image compression-encryption algorithm by combining quaternion discrete multi-fractional random transform with compressive sensing is investigated, in which the chaos-based fractional orders greatly improve key sensitivity. The original color image is compressed and encrypted with the assistance of compressive sensing, in which the partial Hadamard matrix adopted as a measurement matrix is constructed by iterating Chebyshev map instead of utilizing the entire Guassian matrix as a key. The sparse images are divided into 12 sub-images and then represented as three quaternion signals, which are modulated by the quaternion discrete multi-fractional random transform. The image blocking and the quaternion representation make the proposed cryptosystem avoid additional data extension existing in many transform-based methods. To further improve the level of security, the plaintext-related key streams generated by the 2D logistic-sine-coupling map are adopted to diffuse and confuse the intermediate results simultaneously. Consequently, the final ciphertext image is attained. Simulation results reveal that the proposed cryptosystem is feasible with high security and has strong robustness against various attacks.

Optical neural network (ONN) has been regarded as one of the most prospective techniques in the future, due to its high-speed and low power cost. However, the realization of optical convolutional neural network (CNN) in non-ideal cases still remains a big challenge. In this paper, we propose an optical convolutional networks system for classification problems by applying general matrix multiply (GEMM) technology. The results show that under the influence of noise, this system still has good performance with low TOP-1 and TOP-5 error rates of 44.26% and 14.51% for ImageNet. We also propose a quantization model of CNN. The noise quantization model reaches a sufficient prediction accuracy of about 96% for MNIST handwritten dataset.
