The research results facilitate the description of adenine adsorption on the mercury electrode with reference to the pH of the supporting electrolyte which was the acetate buffer with pH of 3, 4, 5 and 6. The thermodynamic analysis indicates that the curves of the differential capacity of the studied systems with adenine do not overlap with the curves for the supporting electrolyte – the acetate buffer. This indicates the occurrence of adsorption of the studied compound on the mercury electrode within the whole range of applied concentrations in the case of every tested pH value of the acetate buffer. Adsorption energy and interaction constants were determined using the Frumkin isotherm and the viral isotherm. It was demonstrated that a adenine molecule is adsorbed on the mercury electrode in a buffer with pH 4, 5 and 6 through the negative pole, whereas in a buffer with pH 3 through the positive pole. Physical adsorption was observed in the studied systems. This is indicated by the occurrence of a typical maximum on the curve of the relation the relative surface excess amounts and the potential of the electrode; crossed curves of the following relation surface charge of the electrode from its potential (surface charge of the electrode from its potential σ = f(E)) at one point and, thus, the possibility of determining electrical parameters characterizing maximum adsorption as well as the absence of linearity of the function free energy of adsorption as a function of electrode potential ∆G0 = f(E).

Purpose: Lateral (X) and longitudinal (Y) mechanical oscillations of muscle fibers that take place during muscular contraction seem to contain information additionally to the myoelectric activity, which can contribute to the interpretation of some muscle gradation force mechanisms. However, no previous study was found that had investigated the relationship between the muscle force and features associated to the mechanomyographic (MMG) signal obtained by means of a biaxial accelerometer in three different muscles. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the force output at different load levels (20% to 100%) of the maximum voluntary isometric contraction (%MVIC) and the two signals supplied by a biaxial accelerometer and, in addition, the so-called resultant (R) acceleration signal derived from the two signals mentioned previously. Twenty seven male volunteers participated in this study. Methods: The force output related to the right biceps brachii, soleus and gastrocnemius medialis muscles was studied by means of linear regression models fit to log-transformed of the root mean square (RMS) values of the MMG signals in X, Y, and R axes versus each %MVIC. The phase angle of R acceleration (PhaseR) and anthropometric data were also considered. Results: The angular coefficient a and the antilog of y-intercept b from the log-transformed of MMG data values versus force output were able to distinguish partially motor unit strategies during isometric contractions in the three muscles studied. Conclusion: The findings suggest that biaxial accelerometer seems to be an interesting approach in the assessment of muscle contraction properties.

The Arrhenius model, that relates the activation energy with the kinetic constant and process temperature, was applied for flotation as a separation process, and next was extended to other incentive parameters such as the frother concentration, NaCl content and hydrophobicity. It was shown that determination of the activation energy caused by other incentive parameters (i.e. particle size, surface potential) was also possible. The units of the activation energy depend on the type of the separation process and incentive parameter. For contact angle regulating flotation the activation energy unit is mJ/m2, while for the frother concentration is J. It is known that instead in joules, the activation energy can also be expressed in J/mol and in kT or RT units, where k is the Boltzmann constant, R gas constant and T is absolute temperature in kelvins. Even though different formulas of the specific Gibbs potential were used for calculation of activation energy caused by various incentive parameters, there was generally a good agreement between the extend of changes of the first order kinetic constants of the process and activation energy value. It was found that for flotation of copper-bearing carbonaceous shale the activation energy was equal to 1.1 kT for NaCl as the incentive parameter, 3.0 kT for temperature and 32.7 kT for butyl diethylglycol ether used as a flotation frother. For methylated quartz the hydrophobicity-induced activation energy was 42 mJ/m2 for contact angle as the incentive parameter.

Opis:
Age-dependent changes in human eye spectral sensitivity play an important role in contemporary lighting research. Nowadays lighting designing practices take into account the fact that an illuminance level perceived by a given observer depends also on his age. According to recommendations of the International Commission on Illumination CIE presented in the document 227:2017, users age should be taken into account in lighting design of public buildings. The natural consequence of this approach in designing should be the fact that the age of a user also should be considered when verification of lighting installation photometric parameters is performed. According to recommendations of latest CIE documents, verifications of illuminance levels are performed by luxmeters whose spectral sensitivity matches the CIE standard photometric observer V(λ) function. At present there is a lack of papers describing how the accuracy of illuminance measurements could be affected by the fact that with age there are changes in human eye spectral sensitivity and it differs from V(λ) function. To fill this gap we present in this article results showing how applying of different photometric observers influence the luxmeter accuracy. The calculations were performed for LED and FL light sources measured by class B and class C luxmeters. These results indicate that a luxmeter error f1 strongly depends on correlated color temperature of a lamp under measurement and spectral sensitivity of applied photometric observer.

Opis:
The paper presents some application of barium titanate synthesized by different methods. Barium titanate samples were prepared by four procedures: solid state, mechanochemical as direct synthesis and modification as well as hydrothermal and microwave. The obtained samples were systematically studied using X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), potentiometric titration, and quasi-elastic light scattering and zeta potential measurements. The values of pHpzc (point of zero charge) and pHIEP (isoelectric point) characteristic of the electrical double layer were determined. The prepared samples were tested as photocatalysts under visible light. As a result, relationship between the conditions of barium titanate synthesis, its physicochemical and electrokinetic parameters, as well as photocatalytic activity under visible light was first established.

The reverse flotation of quartz and other gangue silicate minerals with alkyl amines is an important and well known strategy for the processing of iron ore, low grade bauxite ore, and phosphate rock. Some details of amine adsorption by quartz have been described in the literature, but little is known about the disposition of amine during bubble attachment. Now, a new experimental procedure involving vibrational sum frequency spectroscopy (VSFS) has been developed to provide, for the first time, a more detailed analysis of the state of dodecyl amine (DDA) adsorption at different interfaces during bubble attachment/detachment at a silica surface. The results show that the hydrophobic surface state at the silica surface is created by the transfer of a well-organized monolayer of DDA from the bubble surface to the silica surface during bubble contact and attachment.

In this study, differences in the rheological properties of three different types of brown sepiolites (K1, K2, and K3) along with one beige (B) sepiolite with different physicochemical properties were explained based on their crystallinity and level of surface silanol groups. Towards this aim, SEM images, XRD and chemical analyses, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and water absorption tests were conducted along with surface area measurements and time-dependent pH profiles. The pH profiles at 3% by wt. revealed that each sepiolite sample attained the equilibrium at different times. These differences showed a parallel behavior with the degree of crystallinity. While sepiolite with better crystallinity (K1) was rather slow in reaching the equilibrium pH, the sepiolites with poor crystallinity (B and K3) reached their equilibrium pH more quickly. The rheological studies conducted with different sepiolites at 3% solids concentration exhibited time-dependent flow of the Bingham plastic model and thixotropic. Differences observed in the rheological behavior of sepiolites were found to correlate with the fiber size, CEC, surface area, and water absorption. The results further indicated that sepiolites with low crystallinity or high level of surface silanol groups (K3 and B sepiolites) show the best rheological properties.

Hydrometallurgy is considered a promising method to produce solar-grade silicon (SOG-Si) from metallurgical-grade silicon (MG-Si) due to its advantages of low cost, simple operation, and easy control. In this paper, the effects of particle size of MG-Si, type of acid, leaching time, temperature, and liquid-to-solid ratio on the purification efficiency were investigated in an external field environment with the addition of ultrasound. The purification efficiencies of the two acid-leaching methods were compared. It was found that the simultaneous use of HCl + HNO3 was more effective than using only HCl for impurity removal in MG-Si: the extraction efficiencies of impurities Fe and Al were increased by 2.2% and 13.4%, respectively. The impurity contents in MG-Si before and after calcination pretreatment were also compared. This paper is expected to help researchers select the appropriate hydrometallurgical technique to reduce the impurity content in MG-Si.

In this study, flocculation behaviors of natural stone powder suspensions were determined by applying classical jar tests. The flocculation tests were performed in the presence of different types of polymers at different polymer dosages and pHs. Then, the settling rates and residual turbidity values of suspensions were recorded. The flocculation performance of flocculants possessing unique molecular architecture (UMA) and conventional polyacrylamide based flocculants was investigated for the solidliquid separation of natural stone processing wastewater. The effects of flocculant type, dosage and pH were examined. The results obtained from this study indicated that in terms of the settling rate and turbidity, the medium anionic SPP 508 flocculant of 28% charge density showed a better flocculation performance compared to other conventional and UMA flocculants at natural pH. The SPP 508 flocculant gave the lowest turbidity value of 3 NTU (Nepheleometric turbidity Unit) at dosage of 0.3 mg/dm3, while the highest settling rate (870 mm/min) for the suspensions tested was achieved at 1 mg/ dm3 dosage for the same flocculant. However, the lowest settling rate was obtained by high cationic flocculant (Enfloc 440 C). All flocculants showed a good flocculation performance for the settling rate and turbidity at pH 8 and 10.

Lifting is known to be a major reason for musculoskeletal injuries. In this way, lifting has a crucial effect on human musculoskeletal system and intensity of this impact depends slightly on the selection of techniques. Underlying mechanisms by which trunk muscles are executed during performing lifting are central to biomechanical study of lifting techniques. In the current study, the trunk muscular control mechanisms of lifting are investigated using the synergetic control analysis. Non-negative matrix factorization has been used to extract trunk muscles synergies from their activities – which are computed by a previously validated musculoskeletal model – during different lifting techniques aimed to investigate motor control strategies. Three lifting techniques are considered; stoop, squat and semi-squat. Three synergies account for variety among muscle activation of trunk muscles with related VAF (Variability Account For) of over 95%. Trunk muscle synergy weightings and related time-varying coefficients are calculated for each kind of lifting techniques considering three synergies. Paired correlation coefficients between muscle synergies are all greater than 0.91 (P < 0.05) suggesting that trunk muscle synergies are similar for examined techniques in spite of their kinematic diversity. This similarity can be a result of their common ultimate goal. The acquired results also elucidate the mechanisms of muscle activation patterns that can be exploited in future studies and ergonomic interventions.

The paper presents principal approaches to diagnosing the structure forming skeleton of the complex optical field. An analysis of optical field singularity algorithms depending on intensity discretization and image resolution has been carried out. An optimal approach is chosen, which allows to bring much closer the solution of the phase problem of localization of speckle-field special points. A possible approach to diagnosing the signs of zero amplitudes has been offered.

There are higher requirements for microstructures and high-precision components in microelectronics, photonics, sensors, optoelectronics and medical devices. For changing the traditional manufacturing methods with cumbersome process and complex equipment, researchers put forward a laser shock forming technique which can contribute to the metal forming with high precision and efficiency in recent years. So far, the laser shock forming needed high pulse energy and high energy. In this paper, nanosecond laser with high frequency and low pulse energy was adopted to make possible the aluminum foil forming on the copper micro-molds with different sizes and shapes. The deformations of aluminum foil were measured by SEM, optical profiler and AFM. Also, the deformation laws were analyzed by comparing imprinting results under different micro-molds. Lastly, stress distribution and deformation process of aluminum foil was investigated by numerical simulations.

In this study, firstly, enrichment experiments were carried out on the epithermal gold ore belonging to the Konya-İnlice region containing 2.38 ppm Au-containing oxide type ore and 1.39 ppm Au-containing sulfur ore with using Falcon device as a gravity enrichment method. In these group experiments, the effects of parameters such as centrifugal force, bowl type effect, and a solid ration of feeding were investigated. As the second enrichment method, the conventional flotation technique was applied. In these enrichment experiments, appropriate grain size, flotation time, amount of reagent, and amount of depressant, and pH effect were investigated. The results of these tests showed that while a concentrate assaying 4.79 ppm Au content was obtained with 7% recovery with Falcon Concentrator, a concentrate with 8.37 ppm Au content with 36.37 % recovery was obtained with flotation tests. Thus, if the middlings were theoretically distributed, the final concentrate recovery increased to 78.10% recovery increases to 78.10%.

This paper quantitatively shows the effect of run-of-mine (ROM) feed grade on flotation plant capacity, and also the combined effects of different feed grades and the size reduction alternative combinations on the project economics. Project economics are defined as CAPEX and OPEX The project profitability was estimated based on a “Cash Flow Model” along the life of the mine, which is ten years. The parameter for tracking project return or profitability is called NPV and IRR (internal rate of return), respectively. These parameters are standard parameters for control of project return in all engineering studies. In the scope of the study, there are a series of case studies including three different comminution alternatives in combination with three different ROM feed grade alternatives. Therefore, the nine case studies were compared based on economics which resulted from different equipment combinations and as well as the different types/amounts of process consumables. Among all the cases, Case 1 (Conventional circuit with 0.1% feed grade) gave the lowest CAPEX whereas Case 9 (High Pressure Grinding Rolls_HPGR circuit with 0.3% feed grade) gave the highest CAPEX. OPEX wise, Case 7 (HPGR circuit with 0.1% feed grade) produced the lowest whereas Case 6 (Semi-Autogenous Ball mill Crusher_SABC circuit with 0.3% feed grade) gave the highest value of OPEX. The NPV of the HPGR circuit with 0.3% feed grade case was found as maximum, which showed the quantitative effect of feed grade and equipment combination on flotation plant economics.

The dental materials studied varied in a wide range of chemical compositions: composites (Silux Plus made by 3M Dental, Tetric Cream made by Ivoclar-Vivadent), pH controlling composite (Ariston pHc made by Vivadent), hybrid glass ionomer (Vitremer made by 3M Dental), compomer (Hytac made by ESPE), amalgamate without the gamma phase (Septalloy made by Septodont), chemocured phosphate cement (Agatos made by Chema-Elektromet), phosphate cement with addition of silver (Argil made by Spora-Dental). The reference standard was a 0.9% physiological solution of NaCl. The relative deviations of the spin-lattice relaxation time vary from –18.5% to +24.0%. From the point of view of magnetic resonance imaging, the materials significantly disturbing the tomographic images are the amalgamate Septalloy-Septodont and glass ionomer Vitremer-3M Dental, while the composite Tetric Cream-Vivadent has insignificant effect.
