Opis:
One of the basic criterion for safety evaluation of structures erected on embankment or sliding slopes is relative horizontal displacement at different elevations. Relative horizontal displacements beneath ground surfaces are performed with inclinometer measurements. This report presents results on horizontal relative ground displacements with the probe SISGEO S242SV30. Investigations were performed with two inclinometer columns 14m height embedded in Warsaw Bank Slope. Mean square error of single observation was determined and mean relative errors of relative displacements in relation to column height. On the basis measurement results several relevant recommendations and practical hints were formulated allowing to avoid survey blunders and discrepancies in measuring procedures often encountered. Detailed inclinometer horizontal displacement measurements results at Warsaw hillside St Ana’s Church grounds were listed and presented.

Opis:
The correct determination of displacements, mainly vertical ones, of the buildings and other building objects is necessary for the statement of changes in construction of these buildings and working out the security rules and forms, allowing for the avoidance of the building catastrophes. The geodetic vertical displacement measurements ought to be performed with high accuracy. For that reason, the most appropriate method of their determination is the precise geometric leveling. This method is characterized by not very long time of realization, but on the other hand there are some inconveniences, caused by doing works in unfavorable terrain conditions (road, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, variable lighting conditions). As a consequence, it is advisable to use for displacement measurements the measurement equipment of high precision parameters, preferably with the automatic registration of the measured elements. In this work there are presented the outcomes of the vertical displacement measurements for the five annual cycles of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Science’s buildings, situated in the area of Grunwaldzki Square. The measurements have been carried out between the years 2006-2010. Because of the statement of abundant cracks of the walls of these buildings, the terrain works have been carried out there. Taking into consideration the localization of the cracks in the area of the ice-marginal valley of the Oder River and their time formation, there has been assumed, that the floods in years 1997 and 2010 are the main reason for the cracks occurrence as well as earthworks associated with doing deep, wide-spatial pits of new building objects . The terrain measurements are performed mainly by third-year students of land surveying in frame of the terrain classes within the Engineering Geodesy course. The terrain data for computations have been prepared by students in frame of their master's thesis works under the authors' of this paper guidance.

Opis:
In the paper the problem of lateral impact of weak soil layer on piles is discussed and analysed from the view point of measurements of deformations of structures founded on piles and of the prediction of its development in the future. Selected model test results are described and compared with numerical simulations. Additionally, basic principles of non-invasive electromagnetic method for measurement of deflection of abutments piles, developed by the author, is also presented.

Opis:
Before research, a graphical analysis of time series is important to carry out because the configuration of empirical points in a proper Cartesian coordinate system enables one to make a decision which class the researched trend function belongs to. When verifying the model it should be checked whether received values of structural parameters estimation are reasonable. The method of extrapolation of time series can be used to forecast only in case when the mechanism of development of the researched effect does not change in time considerably or in case if the mechanism of development of the researched effect is not known and we cannot recognize it. The forecast horizon can be dependent on inertia of researched variables. For variables with a big inertia the forecast horizon can be considerably longer. Longer forecast horizon corresponds with less probability of occurrence of the provided state and simultaneously certainty of the forecast is less. Another question is a stability of the model. It does not mean that the model will be stable after the period the model was estimated, i.e. it will be stable in future. Adaptive models are useful in case of lack of stability in the researched period. Forecast procedures based on those models assume that the effect intensification in time can be segmental, i.e. "smooth", only in some intervals of time. Such models are particularly important for short-term forecasts. Taking one of the following models into account depends on: - clear interpretation of model's parameters, - possibility of a simple estimation of the model's parameters, - the level of accuracy that the model describes the effect's development in time. It should be noticed that building a "good" model describing the given effect on the base of data from the past not always can be proper in future. To enlarge forecast certainty (especially for short time series) several forecasting methods should be used and their results should be compared.

Opis:
The Precise Point Positioning (PPP) analysis technique adapted for monitoring of high - rate coordinate variations from GPS observations is applied for detection of actual displacements related to moderate and light earthquakes. Two approaches are examined: kinematic PPP which is suitable for larger displacements and analysis of residuals from quasi-static PPP which is suitable for detection of min or earthquake related displacements. The potential and limits of the se used methods are documented on M 6.3 L’Aquila earthquake and M 4.3 Tatabanya earthquake. Our experiments proved the ability to measure dynamic seismic-related short-term coordinate variations at sub-centimetre level with PPP using GPS 1 Hz satellites observations.
