ship tanks for liquid
Opis:
The research was performed with the use of plexiglass models subdivided into 12 separate compartments. The compartments can be filled with a liquid. The model was excited to vibrations within a given frequency band by means of an exciter and accelerations were measured in selected points of the model. During measurement series oscillograms were obtained for various filling states at continuously changing range of measured frequencies. The oscillograms obtained for free vibrations measured on liquid-filled tank models were then processed. Results of the model tests were compared with those theoretically calculated for simple cases of tank-liquid system. The simple cases were used to test correctness of the elaborated computational program for determining hydrodynamic loads applied to tank walls. The application program for determining hydrodynamic internal loads was elaborated. Also, the influence of liquid filling state on values of loading, accelerations and wall deformations was demonstrated.

Opis:
Greater and greater number of cargo ships sailing over small, restricted water areas can endanger the environment - in the case of disaster - by spilling fuel oil, carried in the ship’s bottom tanks for its propulsion. In this paper is proposed an alternative solution (against that of double plating) in the form of the second, elastic protective barrier which would be able to decrease risk of spilling in the case of loss of ship’s plating tightness due to collision or grounding.

Opis:
This paper presents methods and results of the 1st series of tests of acoustic emission (AE) signals, aimed at assessing degree of corrosion protection of a tank made of hull structural steel, protected by means of a protective coating combined from polyurethane layer and concrete filler. The tests were carried out in compliance with a method specially elaborated for application to the work in question. In the method were used requirements of the standards in force, as well as experience gained during realization of the research project CORRSHIP, included in 5th Frame Program of European Union. The application of the AE method to detect and localize corrosion sources during exposure of specimens to corrosive mixture confirmed its high usefulness for the carried-out tests on corrosion protection effectiveness of new types of protective coatings.

Opis:
Small closed sea shipping regions (such as the Baltic Sea) are specially vulnerable to consequences of ecological disasters due to spills of fuel oil used for ship propulsion and carried in single-plating double-bottom tanks. An alternative solution (against the recommended double- plating structure) was proposed. It consists in applying the second, elastic protection barrier to decrease risk of oil spills resulting from loss of tightness of ship plating in consequence of e.g. collision or grounding.

ship tanks for liquid fuels and liquefied gases
Opis:
Kinematic excitations provoke the motion and vibrations of the construction, which in turn considerably affects hydrodynamic loads generated on the walls of liquid cargo tanks. The issues of hydrodynamics also refer to the constructions fixed to the bottom, and those half-immersed, fully immersed, and floating (drilling platforms). They mainly concern ship tanks and oceanotechnical tanks. The theoretical and numerical analysis for long an short tanks, fully or partially filled with liquid has been performed. The determined hydrodynamic loads directly refer to the strength of the tank structure, which provides opportunities for determining the constructional strength of the entire hull. Extremely severe requirements are to be met by tanks used for carrying radioactive liquids, as an extremely high safety level is to be secured on all cargo carriers used in marine and land transport.
