Opis:
The main aim of this research was to determine in three ways, i.e. experimentally, analytically and by means of numerical modelling, the resistances of the flow of a natural liquid in a helical pipe and in curved pipes. The analyses were carried out for three pipes: one helical pipe and two curved pipes. Each of the pipes was 2 m long and its inside diameter was 4 mm. The experiment was carried out on a test stand making it possible to measure the rate of the flow of the liquid, the temperature at the pipe’s inlet and outlet and the pressure at the pipe’s inlet and outlet. The resistances of the flow of the liquid were calculated from analytical or empirical formulas found in the literature on the subject. Moreover, numerical modelling was performed using the finite volume element method.

Opis:
The leakage from submarine pipe network is investigated by a numerical model in this paper. A whole event including of the steady flow before the leakage, the transient flow during the leakage and the steady flow after the leakage is considered in the model. The numerical results of the discharge and the head compare with the theoretical solution under the condition of steady flow. Good agreement is obtained. The numerical results of the discharge and the head show that the discharge and the head in each pipe changes suddenly after the leakage occurring. The abrupt trend of the discharge in each pipe is not same completely. Some change upwards, while others downwards. However, the abrupt trend of the head is always downward. The effects of leakage discharge on the transient flow are also investigated. It is founded that the larger the leakage discharge, the more obvious the abrupt trend of the discharge and the head before or after the leakage is.

Opis:
To illustrate the vibration characteristics of a rotating pipe in flow, experiments were conducted for a pipe in flow, a rotating pipe in still water and a rotating pipe in flow. For the pipe in flow without rotation, the trajectory diagram is ‘8’ shaped. For the rotating pipe in still water, a multiple frequency component was induced, and a ‘positive direction whirl’ was found. For the flow and rotation, at a flow velocity of 0.46 m/s, the vibration is dominated by the combination of flow and rotation. With an increase in rotating frequency, the trajectory of the rotating pipe varies from an ‘8’ shape to a circular shape and the ‘reverse direction whirl’ is induced, which is different from ‘positive direction’ in still water. The vibration frequency ratio increases uniformly with flow velocity. At a flow velocity of 1.02 m/s, at which the frequency is close to the theoretical natural frequency, the vibration frequency ratio is f*≈1. Predominantly governed by vortex-induced vibration (VIV), the vibration behavior of a rotating pipe subjected to fluid flow conditions has been found to exhibit complete vanishing of whirl. The vibration characteristics of a rotating pipe in flow are studied by the experiments which is benefit for structural drilling design.

Opis:
The combat potential of future warships will be directly related to the use of modern electronic devices being parts of advanced systems, such as, for instance, radar systems, fire aiming systems, fire detection systems, electric drive systems, and even electronic and radio-electronic weaponry, railguns and lasers, installed on these warships. The capacity and functionality of these devices is continually increasing, at decreasing mass and dimensions, which results in higher power consumption. Heat collection becomes a growing problem in operation of these devices. The paper presents a concept of the use of the CPL (Capillary Pumped Loop) cycle for passive heat collection from precise electronic devices used on warships. It also includes the description of the experimental rig and discussion of the results of laboratory tests performed on this rig and confirmed using the mathematical model developed by the authors.
