Niezależnie od rodzaju organizowanej komunikacji jedną z najistotniejszych wartości, charakteryzujących podaż usług transportowych jest liczba kursów obsługujących dany rejon komunikacyjny w wybranej relacji [5]. Jednakże często miara ta bywa myląca - brak w niej odniesienia do rozłożenia kursów w czasie. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiony zostanie obiektywny wskaźnik, obrazujący dostępność do komunikacji w czasie faktycznie postrzeganą przez jej użytkowników.

The article presents the effects of researches, which have been done in buses of Municipal Transport Enterprise in Sosnowiec (Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Miejskiej w Sosnowcu). They have been related to number of persons, who were using bus-stop, dependence to passengers exchange time. Huge empirical sample, which was analyzed let model to calibration. The model based on log-normal distribution.

Accurate design of infrastructure for public transport is the basis for the efficient functioning of traffic and passenger transportation. The article presents an analysis of the availability of public transport stops. The measure of the availability relates to access times to certain stops from other stops and the surroundings of the transport hub. The article discusses the scope and the objective of measuring pedestrian and passenger traffic. It also presents an analysis of transition times for the passengers who change their means of transport and need to reach a stop. The provided measurements were carried out on a two-level interchange tram-bus hub. Thus they should be part of any assessment of the quality of passenger service in the hub.

The paper deals with the issue of efficiency of public passenger transport through financial support from public funds from the perspective of improving road safety. The aim is to verify the hypothesis that financing public passenger transport from public funds is a significant tool to influence the number of passengers carried by individual automobile transport, and thus it can be used a tool for influencing road safety in a particular territory. The first part of the paper analyses the sources for financial support of public passenger transport. The next part describes the assumptions for improving road safety through increasing the support of public passenger transport. The last part analyses possible impacts of financing public passenger transport on the road safety in relation to the specified hypothesis.

The aim of the article is to present the role of public transport and its financing methods, with particular emphasis on the role of transport tariffs in Poland. Tariffs in collective transport, in addition to its financing functions, that is, covering the cost of services, are increasingly fulfilling the functions of shaping the desirability of public transport, thereby supporting the city's competitiveness as a whole, both in relation to its residents and people who have jobs in the city or are guests/tourists. The article hypothesises that third generation tariffs are financial tools that allow cities to manage local finance more effectively and affect the competitiveness and appeal of public transport. The research process used methods of critical analysis of literature, induction and deduction, logical inference and economic and financial analysis.

Urban transport systems operate according to fixed, strict timetables, which requires high timeliness and technical readiness of the fleet. Therefore, this article proposes a detailed study of the punctuality of the public transport system using a multiple regression model for the main modes of transport (trams, buses, and Warsaw Metro). The analysis made it possible to go beyond the framework of the overall assessment and to identify the factors that have a significant effect on the punctuality index and to indicate the degree of this effect. The obtained results are a universal tool to assess the punctuality level of the urban transport fleet and to support decision making in the scope of organization of their work, which can be implemented in any similar transport system. The specification of the number of breakdowns, road accidents, or unauthorized stopping of a vehicle as the main causes of delays is the basis for taking corrective measures related to the improvement of the fleet operation system, or for preventive measures. The development of such models is practical in both public transport systems and similar companies providing transport services. For such institutions, the parameter of punctuality is extremely important and affects the quality of the services offered and the reputation of the company, which translates into the numer of customers and potential profit. Therefore, it is important to investigate the factors that shape the punctuality of the tasks performed. It allows for shaping the processes of fleet control and management. It is also worth emphasizing the scientific aspect of the publication, which is the presentation of the possibilities of applying selected mathematical models in such analyses, indication of the conditions of their application, and presentation of possible results together with their interpretation.

Transport publiczny w obrębie aglomeracji oraz terenów do niej przylegających stanowi jeden z najistotniejszych elementów zrównoważonego transportu. Bardzo istotne jest prawidłowe zorganizowanie oraz zaplanowanie sprawnej i odpornej na zakłócenia sieci transportowej. W artykule dokonano analizy strukturalnej – z wykorzystaniem teorii grafów – sieci kolejowej Kolei Mazowieckich, celem oceny jej struktury pod kątem organizacyjnym i funkcjonalnym. Sieć ta wykorzystywana jest m.in. do współrealizacji transportu zbiorowego w obrębie aglomeracji warszawskiej oraz okolicznych terenów.
Public transport within the urban areas and areas adjacent to it is one of the most important elements of sustainable transportation. Accordingly, it is essential to properly organizing and planning efficient and noise-robust system transport (transport network). The article presents structural analysis with the use of graph theory for the Koleje Mazowieckie railway network to assess its structure in terms of organizational and functional. The network is used, among others, to co-realization of public transport within the Warsaw agglomeration and the surrounding areas.

This study examined the effectiveness of para-transit transport activities by identifying the socioeconomic characteristics of both the passengers and drivers of public transport and the factors confronting their operation. It utilised primary and secondary data. A purposive sampling technique was employed which entailed the identification of all the motor parks, the selection of buses, minibuses and cars at the motor parks, major bus stops and conducting a survey using a structured questionnaire cum interview. Questionnaires were administered to 354 respondents to obtain information about their socioeconomic, trip characteristics and the unconventional public transport operations, of which a total of 312 questionnaires were duly completed and returned. Data collected were analysed using simple descriptive techniques and correlation analysis. The results showed that the majority of the passengers (61.4%) were within the 21 – 30 years age bracket while 43.7% of the drivers were within the 31-40 years age bracket, the patrons and the operators of the public transport are predominantly low-income earners as large proportion of the passengers (42.1%) earned below ₦10,000 per month while 46.9% of the drivers earned between ₦10,001 and ₦20,000 per month. The results of the correlation analysis indicated both the drivers’ and passengers’ perspectives, factors such as public transport conditions, road quality and drainage system are highly correlated between their paired variables. Hence, effort should be made by the government and public transport operators to improve the transport infrastructural facilities in the study area.

The concept of influencing changes in transport behavior towards sustainable mobility, which is gaining popularity in the 21st century, is free public transport (FFPT). It is estimated that the number of cities in which attempts were made to introduce FFPT exceeds 100. Most of them are located in Europe, especially in France and Poland. FFPT has mostly been restricted to specific city areas or market segments in the hope of increasing demand for public transport services. Because of this, a number of publications on free fare results refer to specific cases in cities. The main aim of this article is to examine the impact of free fares on the behavior and transport preferences of pupils in Gdynia, Poland. On the basis of the study of preferences and transport behavior of the inhabitants of Gdynia, carried out earlier by the team in 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2018, a preliminary description of the behavior and transport preferences of students was prepared. The research of the pupils was conducted twice: before and after the introduction of free travel entitlements. The results of the research carried out, and the data analysis, confirmed that FFPT had no impact on demand for public transport services or the travel behavior of pupils. According to the authors, the lack of positive effects of FFPT on travel behavior in the segment of students, or even more broadly, for achieving the purposes of sustainable mobility, results from the interaction of the following factors: specificity of students' travel behavior determined by the schedule of school activities, pupils' positive attitude to cars as urban transport means, not covering all means of public transport services of FFPT in Gdynia (the city rail is not covered by FFPT), short period of time since FFPT has been introduced. The results of the presented studies could not be verified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors emphasize that before introducing FFPT, politicians should rely on the analysis of anticipated changes in the behavior of residents and the impact of FFPT on the economy of public transport, sustainable mobility goals and political and social results. This article complements the current knowledge on the results related to the introduction of FFPT for a selected group of residents.

This paper presents actual public transport problems in Czech Republic. In all public transport systems the strong passenger decline occurs during the observed time. That means the passenger choose another transport mode and mainly car. Artykuł zajmuje się aktualną problematyką w publicznym zbiorowym transporcie osobowym w Republice Czeskiej. We wszystkich systemach publicznego zbiorowego transportu osobowego dochodzi, w ciągu rozważanego okresu czasu, do znacznego obniżenia ilości przewiezionych osób. To znaczy że potencjalny klient coraz to częściej wybiera inny sposób transportu, najczęściej samochód. Dlatego bardzo ważne jest zajęcie się zbiorowym transportem osobowym w celu zabezpieczenia jego zdolności do konkurencyjności. Z punktu widzenia społeczeństwa jest to najmniej kosztowny i zarazem ekologiczny system transportu ludzi.

This paper presents the problem of public transport planning in terms of the optimal use of the available fleet of vehicles and reductions in operational costs and environmental impact. The research takes into account the large fleet of vehicles of various types that are typically found in large cities, including the increasingly widely used electric buses, many depots, and numerous limitations of urban public transport. The mathematical multi-criteria mathematical model formulated in this work considers many important criteria, including technical, economic, and environmental criteria. The preliminary results of the Mixed Integer Linear Programming solver for the proposed model on both theoretical data and real data from urban public transport show the possibility of the practical application of this solver to the transport problems of medium-sized cities with up to two depots, a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles, and up to about 1500 daily timetable trips. Further research directions have been formulated with regard to larger transport systems and new dedicated heuristic algorithms.

The paper presents how to apply and use principles of the non-market allocation of goods and distribution in public transport systems. In most countries, regional and local public transport is a public service, whose availability should be ensured, with originating deficits financed by the public authorities. In the course of this service provision, problems can result from financing the deficit by various entities, e.g., municipalities and municipality groups, as well as participation by district and voivodeship self-governments in agreements related to the common organization of public transport and unified tariff-ticket systems. Based on local justice theory, this paper sets out principles that can be the foundation of deficit financing system development, including the analysis of their practical application to financing integrated public transport systems.
