    Opis:
    The analysis, which was carried out during the preparation of the article, shows that 88% of entities on the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship use the communication potential of social media to inform about their activities and to advertise the tourist offer. On the other hand, all facilities can be identified by users through web presentations (websites). Communication in cyberspace is accompanied by promotion in the mass media and by a wide range of attractive events. This proves that the managers of sites located on the tourist and cultural route of the industrial heritage of the Silesian Voivodeship use coherent promotional activities.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The study focuses on the problem of redevelopment of post-industrial areas. Their location is often attractive, but potential investors are deterred by a lack of knowledge about the area or an unstable ownership situation. It is therefore necessary to collect information on the past of the area, its current state and the ongoing effects of its former use. The article is an example of a preliminary examination of unused land in order to determine the possibility of its re-use. Design/methodology/approach: The scope of the study includes the identification of the main characteristics of the studied area. Findings: The direction of redevelopment of the analyzed area was initially determined. Practical implications: This study should be followed by a comprehensive analysis of the substances contained in the ground of the area in question and their impact on human health, planning of actions to neutralise any possible negative impact and an estimate of the costs of implementing such modifications. Social implications: The development of the studied area will be an extension of the recreational functions of the adjacent nature and landscape complex. Originality/value This article is a contribution to holistic research on the described area in order to give it valuable functions.

    This article shows basic terminology, current legal acts, problems and dilemmas concerning reclamation and revitalization of brownfields in Poland. It describes, among the others, troubles with development of local revitalization programmes and necessary direction of changes concerning assumptions and adaptation of revitalization act.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The aim of the publication is to verify the practical application of the theoretical assumptions contained in the adopted customer capital model in the process of revitalization of selected post-industrial areas in the city of Lodz. Design/methodology/approach: Due to the problems discussed in the article, the survey technique and the questionnaire interview method were selected for research. The methodological assumption of the article is a hypothesis that the internal customers' orientation towards values important for the capital of external customers - i.e. the internal structure of the organization - determines the success of the investment. Findings: During the analysis it was noticed that all revitalization processes taking place in the selected areas were successful in investments based on the strategies of actions which were determined by values and needs important for the society. Research limitations/implications: The methodological studies and the way they were carried out were extremely accurate in terms of obtaining reliable answers. On the other hand, there were cases in which, due to insignificant knowledge of the revitalization process in the selected area or a negative approach to the entity implementing the process, the respondents provided answers that did not correspond to the content of the questions. Practical implications: On the basis of the results of the research, and hence the confirmed hypothesis, the company or partnership should make more frequent investments based on the needs of society and provide an opportunity for future consumers to participate in the process of 'product' creation. Social implications: The conducted research confirms the importance of public participation in revitalization processes in order for them to achieve investment success, but also spatial and functional success. Originality/value: In the article, the clients' capital is presented for the first time as a central element of the organization, being at the same time the foundation that connects the remaining capitals, which are in the scheme of intellectual capital.

    Zasady i wymagania realizacji strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju akcentują znaczenie problematyki rewitalizacji. Szczególnie istotna jest skuteczna rewitalizacja regionów o dużej skali degradacji terenów poprzemysłowych, do których zalicza się województwo śląskie. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja koncepcji modelu biznesu regionalnego operatora rewitalizacji, będącej wynikiem prac badawczych, prowadzonych przez konsorcjum naukowo przemysłowe. W publikacji scharakteryzowano uwarunkowania makroekonomiczne i regionalne funkcjonowania operatora rewitalizacji. Przedstawiono strukturę modelu biznesu operatora rewitalizacji oraz źródła finansowania jego działalności.
    The principles and requirements of the implementation of the sustainable development strategy emphasize the importance of revitalization. Particularly important is the effective revitalization of large scale regions degradation of post-industrial areas to which the Silesian Voivodeship belongs. The aim of this article is to present the concept of the regional business model of the revitalization operator resulting from research conducted by the scientific and industrial consortium. The macroeconomic and regional conditions of the operation of the revitalization operator were characterized. The structure of the revitalization operator business model and the source of financing of its activity were presented.

    Obszar Górnego Śląska w ostatnim ćwierćwieczu staje się areną rozgrywających się na naszych oczach zmian społeczno-urbanizacyjnych. Silnie zindustrializowany obszar, gdzie gwałtownym procesom uprzemysłowienia nigdy nie towarzyszyły linearne procesy urbanizacyjne, stanął w obliczu konieczności określenia na nowo swojej tożsamości. Procesy przemian zachodzących we współczesnych społeczeństwach ponowoczesnych znajdują także swoje odzwierciedlenie w przestrzeni społecznej i fizycznej miasta. Współczesne miasto staje się w skali mikro areną wydarzeń obrazujących zmiany społeczne i gospodarcze zachodzące w globalizującym się świecie, ale jednocześnie coraz częściej atutem miast staje się ich wyjątkowość, oryginalność, szczególny "duch miejsca", który sprawia, że niektóre miasta tworzą specyficzną, sobie tylko właściwą atmosferę i "magię miejsca", która przyciąga do o nich ludzi. Celem artykułu jest opis i ocena przebiegu procesów rewitalizacyjnych, intensywnie zachodzących w ostatnich latach na Górnym Śląsku, na przykładzie stolicy regionu – Katowic.
    The area of Upper Silesia in the last quarter of the century has become the arena of social and urban changes taking place. A highly industrialized area where rapid industrialization processes have never been accompanied by linear urbanization processes, has faced the need to redefine its identity. The processes of change taking place in modern postmodern societies are also reflected in the social and physical space of the city. The modern city becomes a micro-arena of events that depict social change and the economy in the globalizing world, but at the same time, the uniqueness, originality and special spirit of the place are becoming that some cities create a specific, just the right atmosphere and the "magic of the place" that attracts people to them. The aim of the article is to describe and evaluate the course of revitalization processes, intensively occurring in recent years in Upper Silesia, on the example of the capital of the region – Katowice.

    This paper describes life cycles that have influence over the life cycle of a company. Moreover it is an attempt to highlight the relations that take place between those life cycles, in the post-industrial context. The effect of their analyse was creation of a life cycle model for a company that is extended by adding a touristic function to it.
    Artykuł opisuje cykle życia, które mają bezpośrednie oddziaływanie na cykl życia przedsiębiorstwa. Ponadto podjęto w nim próbę zaznaczenia wzajemnych relacji między tymi cyklami w kontekście turystyki poprzemysłowej. Wynikiem ich analizy jest skonstruowanie modelu cyklu życia przedsiębiorstwa poszerzonego o funkcję turystyczną. W artykule wykorzystano metodę krytycznej analizy literatury przedmiotu, dokonując przeglądu zagadnień teoretycznych związanych z cyklem życia przedsiębiorstwa.

    Purpose: Effective social and economic revitalisation of post-industrial cities involves municipal government entities undertaking planning activities. The aim of the paper is to analyze these activities as the entities have to set not only far-reaching goals to be achieved, but also develop a strategy to achieve the intended results, which acts as a basis for the selection of optimal tactical actions. The city planning document needs to refer to broader regional, metropolitan and national strategies and include specific sectoral programmes within the city. In addition, it should include an evaluation model that ensures the verification of the effectiveness of the operations undertaken. Methodology: The Zabrze development strategy was analysed to determine the content of planning documents in the field of development strategy of post-industrial cities. The content of the document, taking into account the specified priorities, was then verified with systematically prepared reports specifying the degree of implementation of plans, budgetary outlays and the schedule of activities. Findings: As a result, it was possible to link the planning assumptions with the facts in the case of the revitalisation of the city, which, several years ago, was a centre of heavy industry with numerous mines, steelworks and manufacturing plants. We focused primarily on the analysis of the implementation of tasks related to social and infrastructure revitalisation. It was agreed that in the case of Zabrze, the development of a new field of economic activity, i.e. post-industrial heritage tourism, played an important role. Value: It has been shown that consistent implementation of the adopted plans by the local government can result in a change of the image of the city.
