    Progressing economic changes force organizations to introduce consistent actions whose aim is to improve processes taking place in them. If undertaken actions are to produce a desired result, they should be accompanied by application of diverse pro-quality tools and methods. On the basis of the conducted research, the author analyzes the usefulness of quality management techniques identified as the most frequently utilized in the examined group of companies. Not only does the author discuss the aspect of their usefulness in activities undertaken so far, but she also analyzes entrepreneurs' opinions on potential application of the designated techniques in future.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The purpose of including the following analysis was the problem diagnosed in a manufacturing company with hydraulic technology in the aspect of the growing number of hydraulic connected complaints. Therefore, a decision was made to analyze in detail the problem encountered with the available methods and tools. Design/methodology/approach: The study presents a literature approach to issues related to the effectiveness of the production process and the characteristics of the principles, methods, tools and techniques of quality management, as well as the practical application of the 5 WHY tool, based on a production enterprise from the hydraulic industry. Findings: The analysis carried out noticed problem using the Five Whys tool on the basis of data from a manufacturing enterprise from the hydraulic industry, as well as the created summaries of reasons for both quantitative and qualitative complaints in 2016 and 2017 enabled the identification of the main source of the diagnosed problem in the form of too many corroded hydraulic components in 2017 and the formulating of necessary recommendations to eliminate the above mentioned disadvantages of finished products for the enterprise. Practical implications: The introduced changes in the company from the hydraulic industry will significantly facilitate and improve the identification of defective products that should ultimately not reach the enterprise's customers. Originality/value: Formulating practical conclusions on using quality management tools in the aspect of the assessment of the effectiveness of the enterprise production process in the hydraulic industry.

    Opis:
    Celem artykułu było zwrócenie uwagi na istotę narzędzi zarządzania jakością, które chronią przedsiębiorstwo przed zagrożeniem w postaci wad, a w konsekwencji odpływem klientów. Przedstawiono analizę przyczyn wystąpienia wady, jaką jest niedostateczne przyleganie okleiny do ramiaka pionowego drzwi wewnątrzlokalowych STILE. W tym celu wykorzystano takie narzędzia jak diagram Ishikawy oraz metodę FMEA. W wyniku badań zidentyfikowano kluczowe przyczyny występowania wady oraz zaproponowano sposoby ich eliminacji.
    The aim of the study was to draw attention to the essence of quality management tools that protect the company from the risk of defects and consequently the outflow of customers. The paper presents an analysis of the causes of the defect of insufficient adhesion of the veneer to the vertical stile of the STILE internal door. For this purpose, tools such as the Ishikawa diagram and the FMEA method were used. As a result of the study, the main causes of the defect were identified and methods of elimination.

    The aim of the article is to present some management tools and their impact on the functioning of a knowledge-based enterprises in the context of implementation of the actions taken by them and processes. Paper presents essential features of a knowledge-based businesses, and presents the results of questionnaires carried out in mechanical engineering enterprises in areas of business management tools. The study was carried out in the research and development project named: “Computer-aided management system in the field of knowledge management in engineering industries companies” in 2010-2013, No. 03-0112-10/2010 dated 09.12.2010.

    Information technology companies often have to setup a specific virtual environment in order to develop innovative software products. Software development requires a variety of IT tools to ensure a smooth flow of information and proper organisation of tasks within the project team. The evolution of information and communication technologies has allowed virtual teams to share knowledge online, which became more preferable than traditional meetings of developers. The main objective of this article is to determine how virtual project teams are being formed and what are the key attributes of a virtual team – a conceptual Three Aspects Model of a virtual team was presented that may be used in further research. An overview of supportive project management software solutions for virtual teams has also been conducted. The research results presented in the paper indicate that various IT tools lack support in some aspects of virtual project teams.

    Portale crowdfundingowe oferują szeroki pakiet narzędzi umożliwiających finansowanie oraz prowadzenie małych projektów za pośrednictwem Internetu. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie w jakim stopniu narzędzia oferowane przez portale crowdfundingowe mogą wspomagać zarządzanie projektem uruchomienia nowego produktu lub usługi. Artykuł ma również zweryfikować poziom wiedzy menedżerów przedsięwzięć crowdfundingowych z zakresu zarządzania projektami. Metodyka badawcza objęła arkusz ankiety skierowany do kierowników projektów w wybranych trzech polskich portalach crowdfundingowych.
    Crowdfunding platforms offer a wide range of tools to finance and run small projects over the Internet. The purpose of this article is to study by what extent the tools offered by crowdfunding portals can assist project management to launch a new product or service. The article will also verify the level of project management knowledge of crowdfunding project managers. The research methodology included a questionnaire addressed to project managers in selected three Polish crowdfunding platforms.

    Opis:
    Purpose: identification of possibilities of using quality management methods and tools to improve maintenance processes. Design/methodology/approach: the tools used were adjusted to the results of cognitive interview and maturity analysis of maintenance process carried out among representatives of various levels of the organization's management, based on an original tool. Findings: it was found that the level of maturity of the process is in the chaotic phase, despite the fact that the company implemented integrated management systems, quality management methods and tools are not systematically used in the process; it seems, however, the needs in this area are very large. Research limitations/implications: the study was conducted on the basis of only one process, in one workplace; only on the basis of own observations it can be concluded that other processes in this plant, as well as similar ones, will show similar deficiencies, which should, however, be subjected to a deeper analysis. Practical implications: it can be assumed that the research results presented in this paper, as well as the proposed practical solutions, may support not only the process under study, but also completely different processes; the study seems to indicate the need of educating the managers in the field of practical skills for improving the processes in the organizations. Originality/value: the study proposes the use of an original tool for measuring process maturity as an entrance to further steps, it also presents the possibility of using tools, the process of their implementation in an actual process, as well as barriers encountered.

    Purpose: Critical defects are of great significance when evaluating the production process effectiveness, especially in the automotive branch. It is important to analyse these defects and distinguish the crucial ones. In this article, the authors have identified critical defects in the process of brake master cylinders production using quality management tools, and proposed improvement actions. Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the article was to analyse defects and the reasons for their occurrence, and improve the production process of master cylinder with special attention to critical defects. In order to improve this process, critical flaws had to be identified and eliminated from the entire set, which was the engineering problem to be solved. Then the causes of their occurrence as well as the factors causing process disturbances affecting the final occurrence of the defect were identified, and actions eliminating or limiting their occurrence were proposed. In the project, they were used to analyse the tools and principles, i.e. process diagram, Pareto-Lorenz diagram, cause-effect diagram, and to improve the Poka-Yoke process. Findings: Based on the examined causes of defects, improvements were proposed, i.e. guides for applying the body, a program stopping the piston assembly station to control the oil level, purchase of caps from sealed material and the need to work in long-sleeved work clothing, moving the body type verification camera from the final to first station, pallet spacers to protect against piston damage, change of supplier, especially of body castings. Research limitations/implications: The major limitation of the paper is that it is based on one case of an organization. In the future, it will be necessary to conduct studies in more organizations so as to find out if the same result can be achieved. Originality/value: Until now, no quality management tools have been used to analyse and organize the formation of defects in production processes.

    Artykuł koncentruje się na problematyce skuteczności metod, technik i narzędzi zarządzania jakością. Celem niniejszej publikacji jest analiza skuteczności metod, narzędzi i technik zarządzania jakością w branży obróbki metali przy wykorzystaniu metody analizy eksperckiej. W publikacji przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperckich dotyczących omawianego zakresu. Zaprezentowano sposób doboru ekspertów a następnie dokonano szczegółowej analizy narzędzi, metod i technik zarządzania jakością z punktu widzenia ich przydatności w branży obróbki metali. Dla poszczególnych instrumentów określono który z nich jest skuteczny. Dla poszczególnych instrumentów określono również współczynniki konkordancji ekspertów.
    The article focuses on the issue of the effectiveness of quality methods, techniques and tools. The aim of this publication is to analyze the effectiveness of quality management methods, tools and techniques in the metalworking industry using the expert analysis method. The publication presents the results of expert analysis on the discussed topic. The method of selection of experts was presented and then a detailed analysis of tools, methods and techniques of quality management from the point of view of their suitability in the metal processing industry was made. For each instrument we analyze which one is effective. The expert concordance coefficients have also been calculated for individual instruments.

    Artykuł koncentruje się na problematyce skuteczności systemów zarządzania jakością. Celem publikacji jest wykorzystanie rachunku zdań rozmytych do analizy porównawczej systemów zarządzania jakością dwóch organizacji z branży obróbki metali. Dwie organizacje do badań zostały wybrane na podstawie doboru celowego - ich szczegółowa charakterystyka jest przedstawiona w publikacji. Następnie stosując rachunek zdań rozmytych dokonano porównania badanych organizacji w zakresie założonych kryteriów. We wnioskach dokonano analizy różnic występujących w zakresie skuteczności badanych systemów zarządzania jakością.
    The article focuses on the issue of the effectiveness of quality management systems. The aim of the publication is to use the fuzzy-logic analysis for comparative analysis of quality management systems of two organizations from the metal processing industry. Two organizations for research were selected on the basis of purposeful selection - their detailed characteristics are presented in the publication. Then, using the fuzzy sentences analysis, a comparison of the surveyed organizations with regard to the assumed criteria was made. In the conclusions we analyzed the differences in the effectiveness of the quality management systems under examination.

    The development of Environment Management Systems (EMS) commenced as a response to global environmental issues and as a recognition of awareness that sustainable development is prerequisite for keeping the natural system in a proper balance. Transport of dangerous goods by road is quite a complex activity that poses a major potential threat to people and the environment. Therefore, the introduction of certain system tools (standardization of business) contributes to a safer and better road transport operations of dangerous goods. Chemical industry combining their efforts for safety and the environment under the Responsible care program (RC). Such efforts have resulted in the development Safety and Quality Assessment System (SQAS) to assess the haulers. This paper presents tools standardization of business as an opportunity to improve the market positions of dangerous goods haulers.
    Rozwój Systemów Zarządzania Środowiskiem (EMS) rozpoczęty w odpowiedzi na globalne kwestie środowiskowe oraz jako uznanie świadomości zrównoważonego rozwoju jest warunkiem wstępnym dla utrzymania naturalnego systemu we właściwej równowadze. Transport niebezpiecznych towarów drogami jest dość złożoną czynnością, która stwarza potencjalne zagrożenie dla ludzi i środowiska. Zatem wprowadzenie pewnych narzędzi systemowych (standaryzacji biznesu) przyczynia się do bezpieczniejszych i lepszych operacji w transporcie drogowym towarów niebezpiecznych. Przemysł chemiczny łączy swoje wysiłki dla bezpieczeństwa z tymi dla ochrony środowiska w programie Odpowiedzialnej Opieki (Responsible Care - RC). Wysiłki te skutkują rozwojem Systemu Bezpieczeństwa i Ochrony Jakości (SQAS) celem oceny spedytorów. Niniejsza praca prezentuje standaryzację narzędzi biznesowych jako szansę polepszenia rynkowej pozycji spedytorów towarów niebezpiecznych.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The objective of this paper is to make the reader aware of how to design dashboards dedicated to project indicator visualization so as to support their digestibility, usability (scannability) and customizability. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve this goal, first, a literature review was conducted to identify principles for designing dashboards for this issue. Secondly, a real project management dashboard was built to investigate, in terms of technical issues, which interventions a project management dashboard designer should use to create a useful tool that would support the work of the project team. Findings: The digestibility should address the following issues: 1) the optimal number of visualizations, 2) chart selections in a way that enables adaptation to data and assumed initiated action, 3) color design in the context of best contras, with color-blind users in mind. In addition, the usability (scannability) should be intuitive. Thus, elements related to time widget intervals and click to filter options have to be added. To provide the customizability, the dashboard should be designed to display project indicators tailored to the tasks of a particular project team. Originality/value: New in the paper is an examination of a dashboard digestibility, scannability, and customizability in the area of project indicator visualization.

    W artykule przedstawiono praktyczne doświadczenia związane z formułowaniem strategii zarządzania kontaktami z klientami. Przedstawiono aktualne wyzwania rynkowe, biznesowe i technologiczne w sektorze bankowym. Opisano sposób budowy strategii marketingu interakcyjnego. Umiejscowiono wielowymiarową segmentację klientów w procesie podejmowania decyzji. Omówiono marketing interakcyjny, jako nowoczesną, innowacyjną metodę zarządzania kontaktami z klientami. Wskazano rozwiązania analityczne oraz platformy technologiczne stosowane podczas wdrażania strategii oraz w pomiarach jej skuteczności.
    The paper presents practical experiences with customer relationship management strategy formulation. It presents current market, business and technology challenges in the banking sector. Then it discusses the interactive marketing as a modern, innovative method of customer relationship management. It describes also how to build step by step an interactive marketing strategy. A multi-dimensional segmentation of customers is positioned as a key component in the decision process. Finally, indicate the required analytical solutions and technology platforms used in the implementation of the strategy and to measure its effectiveness.
