Opis:
The article presents the results of the investigations of turbocharger shaft bearing using different kinds of lubrication conditions (dry friction and lubrication with different kind of oils). In particular, the wear of the turbocharger shaft surface was evaluated. One of the most frequent failures is the seizure of the turbocharger shaft in the slide bearing, causing its rotation, which leads to destruction of the assembly and costly repairs. On the basis of the conducted tests, it was found that the average value of representative breaks surface on the turbocharger shaft are reduced using of a less viscous oil. Similar situation was seen using new oil instead overworked oil – it had an influence on the value of diameter of breaks.

Opis:
Aircraft touchdown is one of the most difficult and dangerous phases of a flight. The paper presents an aerial light aircraft, prepared and produced by vibroacoustic tests, using an aircraft landing and landing monitoring system (AVI). The concept is based on the use of an ultrasonic transceiver head and vibration transducer, together with an appropriate signal processing and analysis system. The system measures the touchdown speed and altitude of the aircraft in the final phase of the flight and determines the level of load transmitted to the aircraft during the landing. Thanks to data archiving, it allows for better estimation of the wear rate of the structure, which is important in determining the causes of possible malfunction. It can be used with light and ultralight aircraft and, after adaptation, in unmanned aircraft. It can also be used to evaluate the art of piloting during landing.

Opis:
The Laboratory of Aviation Safety and Security at CTU in Prague has recently started a project aimed at runway protection zones. The probability of exceeding by a certain distance from the runway in common incident/accident scenarios (take-off/landing overrun/veer-off, landing undershoot) is being identified relative to the runway for any airport. As a result, the size and position of safety areas around runways are defined for the chosen probability. The basis for probability calculation is a probabilistic model using statistics from more than 1400 real-world cases where jet airplanes have been involved over the last few decades. Other scientific studies have contributed to understanding the issue and supported the model’s application to different conditions.

Opis:
The manner and degree of taking over impact energy by the passive safety elements of the vehicle body is the basis for providing conditions for the survival of people using the means of transport (driver and passengers). The elements specially designed for this purpose in the self-supporting body are longitudinals. Their energy-absorbing properties are designed by using a specific shape, by using appropriate connections of their components and by choosing the right material. Determining the degree to which the vehicle (body) ensures safety during collision requires testing. The most complex and expensive tests are the ones carried out on a complete real object (whole vehicle). The solution worth considering is a bench test of individual body elements designed as energy-consuming (for example, longitudinals). In addition, it is also possible to carry out computer simulations in this area. The purpose of this article was to present and compare the results of dynamic studies on model energy-consuming real objects and compare the results obtained this way with the results of computer simulation in the same range. The scope of work was adopted on this basis: passive safety, model energy-absorbing elements of steel self-supporting vehicle body, dynamic tests, computer simulations. For the purpose of this study, a model of vehicle passive safety elements (model longitudinals) was designed for which dynamic tests were carried out on a specially designed test stand (speed of the hammer was up to 9.7 m/s, impact energy was up to 23.6 kJ). This test stand enabled registration of the deceleration during impact and deformation of the tested object. Next, computer simulations were carried out for geometrically and material-identical models. On the basis of the conducted tests, it was found that it is worth considering the replacement of collision tests of the whole vehicle by tests of its individual components. These tests can also be supported by computer simulations.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of environmental footprints of the life cycle of electric passenger cars, with a current and future electric battery charging analysis in Poland. The shares of the sources of electricity generation in the energy systems of Poland in the years 2015–2050 were used to perform the chosen environmental footprints of current and future electric car battery charging. This article discusses the water and carbon footprints of electric passenger cars in Poland. The carbon footprint was determined usin the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) method. The water footprint was calculated using the Hoekstra method. The environmental footprints were provided by the SimaPro 8 package with the Ecoinvent 3 database. The obtained results showed that the carbon footprint and water footprints of electric passenger cars in Poland are primarily related to the type of electricity used to charge electric car batteries. The results showed that current and future carbon footprint indicators of electric cars in Poland are lower than those for petrol cars, but the water footprint indicators of electric cars are higher than those for petrol cars. In the case of petrol cars, the main determinant of the carbon footprint is direct emission during the exploitation stage and the main determinant of the wate footprint is car production.
