Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this work is to presents the concept of innovation and its function in an enterprise. The sources and types of innovations have been described in this work. Innovation strategies used in enterprises were also presented. Design/methodology/approach: Due to the cognitive nature of the article, the aim of the work will be achieved using the method of analyzing the literature on the subject. Literature studies include Polish and foreign publications. Findings: Innovations are a multi-faceted concept and relate to various areas of a company’s operation – products, distribution channels, business processes, service methods, relationship with business partners, marketing and strategic alliances, etc. Nowadays, innovations are the most compelling way to gain a competitive advantage in the market. Innovation strategy depends on the type and size of the enterprise, as well as a company’s financial capabilities. Thanks to financing innovative activities, a company has a chance to achieve long-term growth. In today’s world, it is difficult to survive without innovations. Innovative enterprises have become the driving force of the economy. Originality/value: The article is a review of the literature on innovation. This work can help entrepreneurs who want to innovate their companies and achieve long-term growth. Managers can choose the optimal innovation strategy appropriate for the enterprise.

Introduction/background: The creation of a knowledge-based economy determines the growth of interest in innovations and the possibility of using them as a tool for building a competitive advantage. This requires companies to develop an appropriate innovation strategy. Its choice is determined by the environment and the company's own capabilities. On the other hand, the effectiveness of strategic decisions in the area of innovation contributes to building a company's competitive advantage. Aim of the article: The aim of the article is to present the cause-effect relations between the choice of innovation strategy and the competitive position of the enterprise. Materials and methods: The methods of critical analysis and synthesis, the method of generalization and logical methods as well as the desk research method were used in the research process. Result and conclusions: As a result of the work, a concept has been developed and direct and indirect consequences of innovation activity have been classified. The choice of innovation strategy usually is based on the direct financial results. But the indirect results are important for creating innovative potential of company and give a multiplier effects. These effects should be taken into account in the process of creating and strategy of innovation. The author presents a diagram of creating a innovative strategy, the direct and indirect effects of innovative activity and the cause and effect relations between the results of innovative activity and the creation of a strong competitive position of the company. The article is aimed at enterprise managers, decision makers of state institutions and scientists dealing with innovation problems.

Opis:
The article discusses the issue of strategies implemented in Polish farms and innovations created as a result. On farms, as well as in enterprises from other industries, net income is assumed as the main goal. In order to achieve it, the direction of development is defined, which may be manifested, for example, by directing production, modernization of the farm or increasing production efficiency. To this end, a strategy is created and implemented in the farms, as a result of which innovation takes place. The objective is to achieve a competitive advantage and maximize net income. Research purpose of this work is to identify the implemented strategies and innovations introduced, as a result, in Polish farms.

Zakłócenia w przepływach materiałowych zwiększają się wraz ze wzrostem niepewności otoczenia łańcucha dostaw. W systemach z przeważającą dystrybucją (łańcuchy dostaw wyrobów hutniczych) ciężar odpowiedzialności za odporność łańcucha dostaw przejmują przedsiębiorstwa dystrybucyjne, które są oceniane przez klientów według kryterium skuteczności. Celem badań zaprezentowanych w artykule jest wskazanie znaczenia elastyczności zasobów we wzmacnianiu odporności sieci dystrybucji.
Interferences in material flows are increasing along with the increase of uncertainty. In systems with prevailing distribution (supply chains of smelting products) distribution companies are assuming the responsibility for the resilience of the supply chain. Flag enterprises of the distribution network are being assessed by customers according to the effectiveness criterion. Showing of meaning flexibilities of resource in improving resilience of distribution networks is a purpose of the article.

Celem opracowania jest prezentacja zagadnienia dynamicznego podejścia przedsiębiorstwa do ochrony środowiska i mieszczącej się w tym nurcie proaktywnej strategii środowiskowej – PSŚ. Omówiono główne podejścia przedsiębiorstw do ochrony środowiska: od reaktywnego do proaktywnego w ujęciu ewolucyjnym. Dokonano przeglądu definicji istoty proaktywnej strategii środowiskowej oraz autorskiej propozycji ujęcia PSŚ. Wskazano, że proaktywna strategia środowiskowa jest utożsamiana ze strategią prospector w ujęciu typologii strategii według Milesa i Snowa, a przedsiębiorstwa ją stosujące są proaktywne wobec zmian prawnych, rynku i technologii oraz odporne na kryzys. Wskazano możliwe koncepcje i programy ukierunkowujące wdrożenie proaktywnej strategii środowiskowej (proekologicznej) w przedsiębiorstwie.
The aim of the paper is to present the essence of the company's dynamic approach to environmental protection and its proactive environmental strategy – (PES). The main corporate approaches’ to environmental protection are discussed: from reactive to proactive. The literature review of the essence of PES and author's proposal of the definition of PES were presented. It was indicated that PES is aligned with the prospector’s strategy according to Miles and Snow, and that the companies using them are proactive in terms of legal, market and technology-related changes and crisis-resistant. The article indicates possible concepts and programs to guide the implementation of proactive environmental (pro-ecological) strategy in the enterprise.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the article is to analyse and evaluate the influence of logistics supply chain strategies on the results of enterprises implementing them and creating a supply chain on the example of selected Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises. It presents the theoretical aspects of logistics supply chain strategies in contemporary market conditions. A research methodology has been described and a brief description of the studied population has been made. The results of the research concerning logistics supply chain strategies used in practice by the surveyed enterprises has been presented and an attempt to assess the influence of logistics supply chain strategies on the results of enterprises implementing them and creating a supply chain has been made. Design/methodology/approach: The article is based on the study of literature and own empirical research. The results of author’s own empirical research presented in the article come from more extensive studies concerning the analysis of logistics systems and logistics process management of Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises in the years 2014-2016 in the context of building the competitiveness of enterprises. The research was conducted in 2017 by face-to-face interviews with managers responsible for logistics in the surveyed companies using a questionnaire. 298 manufacturing and trading enterprises from north-eastern Poland were examined (55.4% from the Warmia-Masuria Province and 44.6% from the Podlasie Province), characterized by a diversified competitive position on the market. Findings: Contemporary manufacturing and trading enterprises can use logistics both as a main element to achieve the intended competitive position and as an element to strengthen the adopted by the company method to achieve the intended competitive position. The conducted studies confirmed that the implementation of the adequate to the conditions logistics supply chain strategy allows the enterprise to increase the adjustment of operations to requirements and expectations of customers, respond properly to market challenges, achieve the set goals, implement innovations, increase sales revenues with the same or better financial liquidity than competitors’, reduce costs and reduce capital involvement, and consequently, achieve the competitive advantage and intended competitive position of enterprises creating the supply chain. The most frequently implemented logistics strategy in the best enterprises was the supply chain management strategy. In the majority of the best enterprises, an emergent logistics strategy was implemented, which was in a constant stage of creation and development, and was characterized by a quick response to changing customer requirements, environmental conditions and competitors’ activities. Research limitations/implications: More and more logistics managers manage logistics processes on the scale of the enterprise and the entire supply chain. Creating and implementing a logistics strategy in the supply chain is a very complex process. The article presents only selected aspects of logistics supply chain strategies. The issue of logistics supply chain strategies requires further, in-depth research. Practical implications: The article proposes logistics managers of Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises practical suggestions for using logistics supply chain strategies to achieve the intended competitive advantage. Originality/value: The article fills a cognitive gap regarding logistics supply chain strategies. An extensive review of the literature on logistics supply chain strategies in contemporary market conditions has been made. The article also fills an empirical gap. It presents the results of studies concerning selected aspects of logistics supply chain strategies used in practice by the surveyed manufacturing and trading enterprises. The research results presented in the article can be used by logistics managers of Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises.
